We are considering purchasing DVC and after reading much information here on the boards (which by the way is soooooooo great and informative) saw mention of people receiving bags, etc. when they joined. What exactly do you receive and do you receive them if you purchase through re-sale?

We bought through Disney and we got a bag and some hats, along with our incentives for buying. It would be my guess that you don't get that stuff through resale, but I have never bought resale, so don't know that for sure. There is a sticky thread from the TTS that they are giving customers gift baskets, I am not sure if that is still going on or what was in them.

We got The Bag and a watercolor drawing of VWL. My hubby framed it and put it in his cubicle. His "happy place" he calls it.....

DH mentioned he'd seen some DVC clothing.....is that available in the parks?

We bought one contract through Disney and 5 through resale. We receive a back pack when we bought through Disney and nothing from Disney when we bought resale. We did get a nice gift basket from the TTS when we bought resale.

Don't forget about the free ice cream and the picture they take of you at SSR :goodvibes

We received a very large bag, what I call a "tote" and two free APs!

We purchased our first two contracts via resale. We just did an add-on through Disney this spring. We were so excited to get the tote bag (and more especially two AP vouchers!). Didn't get anything with the resales other than what we thought was a really good price and points at BWV! :teeth:

We bought at SSR about a week ago. besides the cash incentive, we got free ice cream, a canvas tote bag and four magical fast passes. Each Fast Pass was good for three instant fast passes anywhere. When we tried them, they didn't work, expired! We went to the nearest DVC kiosk (You're never more than 100 feet from one, ever) and the guy there gave us four passes.
I noticed that while eating the ice cream that there were folks in there with paper DVC bags. I'm guessing that they took the tour but didn't sign up yet. We left with the big canvas beach bag.

We bought a resale.

We did not get anything from Disney.

We did receive a letter from The Timeshare Store to stop by for a " nice gift "
waiting for us. Wish they would mail it to us. When we go to WDW in October
( the first time using DVC ) we will be using the ME and will not have transportation to get the " nice gift ."

Yeah the paper bag has the hard back "Dream" book in it. We got that too since we had to come back the next day with all of our info to sign the papers. I didn't bring any of my stuff with me, so we had to come back.

We got the hard-bound "Dream" book when we called DVC and first investigated. We didn't take tours or anything like that. When we were there in March '05, we were like "Yeah, RIGHT....like we could afford that!" Now here we are with a new "home" at VWL!!

But isn't that book "dreamy"??? We have it on our coffee table......

How does one who is already a DVC member since 2004 get the dream book? I would love tohave one for my coffee table too.

I got the dream book when I called DVC inquiring about purchasing. Really neat book. Dream is a very fitting name - made me do lots of dreaming! :cloud9: I take it out pretty often just to get that little fix!

It is a great book! I love it. Sometimes I just look at it to look at it even though I am a member now :cloud9:

Leaving it on the coffee table is a good idea .. it can induce conversations with guests and allow you to talk about DVC/Disney even more :goodvibes

No wonder DH thinks I am DIS

:rotfl2:

Big canvas bag, hard bound dreams book, fast passes (which I think you get whether you buy or not-- just for giving up your time)-- we skipped the ice cream because we were on our way to dinner at Prime Time. Also we got a break for a few hours during the touring/buying process while our kids had an awesome time in the kids club (priceless).

We bought resale through TTS and got a bag from DVC along with a print from Disney. The bag isn't all that great so your not missing much.

Haven't been able to get over to TTS to get our gift basket!
