received bad advice here

Crisi: Right under my name it says member since may 2000 - I'm sure I started posting around then, too.

All: I thought stating "no offense" was enough, but I should have added: (1) the advice was free, (2) I have received a tremendous amount of VERY helpful advice on other topics here, (3) DW did have a gun to my head when I signed!

lol @ DW comment. Hang in there if you can Nick. I bet things are going to come out better than you think at VB.

Hey, I resemble that remark ;) Seriously, I was really pretty tough on my husband too. I believe you, and I sympathize, especially since you all now feel buying in was a mistake.

I hope that we don't end up in the same place. I really don't think we will though. My Mom, who really, really dislikes vacations, is actually looking forward to our first trip "home." If that's any indication, we done good :teeth:

I'd forgotten the possibility that the webmasters may have deleted old threads. But if you review what you've posted from earlier, you don't seem to have been thrilled with your purchase for a long time. Your first post comes up as Feb 1, 2001 - and is posting about lack of availability at any onsite resort other than OKW - you don't "read" disappointed by that in that post, but you do in some subsequent posts.

:moped: crisi: my earlier concerns were mainly to do with a lack of flexibility in staying in other places using the concierge collection and in the dues at vb increasing by such large percentages, more than I think most anticipated based on some of the early 42-year cost analyses - if going to orlando over and over again makes is enough of a vacation, this club is perfect, and also I am not unaware that disney wants us to spend every dollar with them, but a more perfect dvc to me would be one with a larger concierge collection grouped into three tiers of bargain/moderate/premier instead of just premier with high point amounts per each night's stay - I also wish dvc had been more successful with their offsite locations at HH and VB and that they had expanded as planned in newport beach, ca. and in times square, and that these successes would have led to other resorts around the world. having said all that, other than on a cost-benefit analysis we have really enjoyed dvc - we have been to Woodstock Inn in Vt., Topnotch in Vermont, The Grand Californian (including on 9/11, which then included several free nights), a Disney Cruise, which we plan to do again, WLV, OKW, BW, and about 6 trips to our favorite spot, VB, including the day they re-opened from the hurricanes.

ok, I'm going to get on my :moped: and go home and enjoy the last rays of the :sunny: and then maybe put on my :3dglasses and watch a scary movie! :Pinkbounc

Well, I read the entire thread and I must say, Nick, you did take the high road! Very informative for those considering Vero DVC.

I hope that it all works out for you. :flower:

Dr Bond - re-read post - 1500 to 2500 would be the difference in selling the same # of points at VB as compared to points at one of the Orlando resorts. Wake up.
Ya, I got that prior to posting my response, and my post was in reference to that fact. My point is that given the total investment, the amount isn't that huge. Me thinks the advice was sound as is Vero Beach.

No offense to anyone, but before we purchased, I reviewed this site for some time and the general consensus was to buy where you plan to stay. This is still good advice for the Orlando resorts, but I do not think it was good advice for us, since we like Vero Beach.

It was apparently pretty good advice when you got it. The world has changed since then. Imagine that!

I think another poster's comments were on target though. Just hang in there, because the world is almost certainly going to change again, and the advice that is bad in your eyes today may be good again after a while.

If you want guarantees, rather than advice, then you should ask for that. But I doubt that you'll find very many of those in here, or much of anywhere else.

Except, perhaps, from a used car dealer. ;-).
