Hello out there!

I thought that the $10 per person upcharge for Palo dinner was included in the $339 REAS package, but it looks like I was mistaken. Was anyone else under this impression?

Also wanted to let you know that the upcharge for Palo brunch is now also $10 per person, not $5 like I have seen posted on this board. Just FYI!

The $10 per person charge for dinner at Palo is included, the charge for brunch is not. We had the REAS package in November and weren't charged the $10 per person at dinner at Palo.

We used the REAS on our December cruise and were not charged the Palo fee either (but we did fill out the slip for the tip we left).

I've got a question: I spoke to a DCL Rep last week who said repeatedly that the $10 Palo fee was the tip. He was quite certain about it. What's the deal?

That is the service fee that is divided up between the employees at Palo...not sure about the percentage. It definitely is not considered to be the complete tip for the server.

We sailed on Jan. 8 of this year and the fee was included. We did however tip in addition to the upcharge.

The $10 for brunch has been in place for awhile now. It did increase from $5.00 but that was well over a year ago.

We were just charged the $20 upcharge on our recent cruise. (We also tipped another $30 on top of that- I hope that went directly to our awesome server Ellie and did not have to be split.)

Do you think that I should pursue a credit for this, or let it go. Who would I call anyway if I wanted a credit?

At first I too thought we were charged the $20 charge for Palo for two since (we signed up for REAS package) our server bought over a receipt for us to sign. When I asked he said that they still need to run it over the machine but if we signed up for the REAS package then the charged will not show up on our charges and when I received our bill for the entire cruise he was right. THere was no charge for Palo only the tip that we had charged. Did you check your entire bill just to make sure? :flower:

Sort of on the same note:

What did you tip for Palo-Dinner?
Palo - Brunch? (We were told that this is an Extra $10 per person)
Spa Pkg?

Thanks for any help.

lvmymcky- Thanks for much for replying. I didn't get a copy of the individual bill from Palo. I do remember the $20 on there, but I forgot to ask. Since our bar bill :goodvibes and additional tip made it onto our master account at the same time, it is hard to tell. Perhaps I will just email DCL and check it out.

mom_rules- I believe that 20% gratuity is customary for the brunch and dinner and spa as well. We just estimated what we thought the brunch and dinner would cost at a nicer restaurant and applied 20%- 15% is already included on all alcohol and bar purchases.

As for the spa, the $89 charge is shown on the slip, but we upgraded our massage to include a special back scrub and heat treatment (which was wonderful and well worth the add'l $45, plus you got the scrub product as well) so we tipped them $23 each. (Two techs for two massages.)

HTH!

Would it be acceptable-they estimate the cost of our couples massage to be $242 (included in the REAS pkg)- to tip $25 each ($50 total)? $10 tip for dinner and/or brunch at Palo?

The Palo upcharge is supposed to be included in the REAS pkg. However, we were charged for it but went to Guest Services and got it removed. The brunch upcharge is not included as this reservation is a courtesy and not included. We tipped $20 at both the Palo dinner and brunch. For the spa, we tipped $15 each (they show the cost of the massage as being $89). I think these tips were fine but each experience is different and you should tip based on your satisfaction with the service.
