Some links that may help:
If you need to get the train, you can take a 100 Airlink bus from Waverly station to the airport
www.lothianbuses.com (.co.uk is the normal site) is showing service updates. The 100 was on a reduced service earlier today.
http://www.edinburghairport.com/ for flight info. If you have an iPhone, plane finder will show you where your plane physically is. This info is available on-line at
http://planefinder.net/ but the app is pretty cool! The free version is only updated 4 times a day so woth paying for the full version.
http://trafficscotland.org/ for up to date road info, they also have an iPhone app that shows minute by minute camera feeds from the motorways and Edinburgh bypass. The camera are also on their website.
There is also a good app called "My airport - Service officiel d'Aeroports de Paris" which is in French but is fairly easy to use, it shows arrivals and departures from CDG - we used it both ways in May because of the ash clouds.
Sorry if I've given you all this iPhone info and you don't have one, just useful apps I've picked up along the way, most will run on iPod touch as well but you'll need an internet connection.
Hope all goes well and you get there. I advised someone at work today against travelling to Dundee (I'm from there) as they were trying to get there via the Kincardine Bridge due to the Forth bridge being closed. They've taken my advice but the bridge is now open again.
The airport was on the news the other night explaining how difficult it is to keep clear the runways and entry points and the pull-back areas (I always though it was push-back but maybe that's only if you are on the plane) clear of snow - it's a very large area.
I'm crossing my fingers for you and hoping you can get there.
