Really, Kohls?

I often shop for things without keeping real track of what I am spending. I just figure it won't be too much and if I have a coupon I keep it in mind that whatever the total is will be decreased with using it, but of course, reality catches up at the register and I am shocked that the total is not as tiny as I imagined. So I am thinking thats what the OP did.

I find shopping at Kolhs frustrating and haven't been in years.

OP I get it:thumbsup2 I often have the same reaction when i shop there and they act like I've saved hundreds of dollars. I find it insulting to think I'm so dumb, like I don't know you jack the regular price way up there!

I can laugh and relate to this. I used to work at Kohls and I'd watch same t shirt rack have a diff price each day I'd work. was kinda fun to see what cheapest price was. I hated circling the "savings" as I'm not stupid I know you didn't really save that much and you should too.

I like Kohl's because it is convenient to shop at. I purchased DS a watch there last weekend since he was going to camp on Sunday. It was listed at $54.95 regular retail with the discounts and kohl's cash it was $34.95. I went in to Target after that and $34.99 was the regular retail there. Like others I too have found some good deals on the clearance racks. I have to shop for DS in the men department now. He needed a pair of black dress pants for the school concert. Found some for $10 on the clearance rack!

The only time I feel like I truly saved a lot at Kohls was when I bought my Dyson Animal and here is why. Kohls will price match any store, you can also use and %off coupon with $off coupon. That is what we did. We found a great deal at another store ( Kohls had to price match), had $off coupon with % off and on top of that we got Kohls cash. I will tell you the manager was not happy about it. I used the Kohls cash on clearance with a %off coupon.

I cannot complain about Kohl's at all. I just bought underwear for a ridiculous price on the clearance rack. They had the original mfr. price tags on them from Vanity Fair which said $26 for 3 pairs. (They were actually 3 little plastic hangers bound together). Kohl's had all their clearance underwear 3/9.99, and I had a 30% off coupon. So I got three 3-packs (9 pairs) for $6.99. I saw the same ones at Nordstrom on sale for 19.99 for each 3-pack. I got a great deal that time. I figured I paid $53 less than I would have at Nordstrom. :cool1:

You just have to really watch your prices at Kohl's, some things are a great deal and some are not.

One thing I don't understand. If you gave them a 15% off coupon and your total was $53, then the total without the coupon should have been closer to $62 or $63, not $107. Not sure how you saved $54 with a 15% off coupon unless your total was a whole lot higher than $53. You would have only saved $54 if you had a 50% off coupon, correct? What am I missing?

I think $63 for two ties and a pair of bball shorts is a decent deal, especially if they were name brands.

I think OP meant the original total would have been $107, before both whatever sale the items were on AND the coupon.

They also mark the prices up before they put them on "sale". Peel off the price tag to reveal the original price underneath.

I used to work at Kohls too and I worked the third shift and I had to change the signage. I was suppose to only work 2 notes a week and they started begging me to work more. I was working my regular 40 hr job and putting another 40 in on 3rd shift. I tried sleeping from 4-9 and I could never fall asleep.

kohl's is nuts

I think she means really, like come on, who are they kidding? She's not mad she paid the 54, but she's saying they're not fooling anyone saying she saved 56 dollars, either.

Justice does the same thing. If you don't have a coupon or the store isn't 40% off, you're paying too much!

You just have to watch what you buy. For example Kohls regular price for a Keurig Mini is crazy high. Their sale price is $99 which is the regular price at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond etc. With a 30% off coupon, their price was the best I could find anywhere.

Eta. The you saved number is dumb.

Kohl's is ridiculous. I wanted to buy a juicer. Every website that I checked had it for like $60. Kohl's was almost $100. And that was their "sale" price. I was contemplating kohls cause it was the closest, but I gave up and bought it elsewhere.

I don't usually care for Kohl's because for someone like me, who does not shop there often, it is difficult to know what a truly good price is. However, I just came out of there with four pairs of shorts (longer than junior length but shorter than misses length, which are hard for me to find) and they were "on sale" for $10 which I think is pretty good considering the pair I just got at Target was on sale for $15. Plus because I used a Kohl's credit card they gave me an additional 20% off even tho I didn't have any coupons with me. So no complaints today. It was a pleasant surprise that I found something I wanted. However, the locations near me are all very disorganized as far as where they have everything so it was a fluke that I found these to begin with.

I love Kohls!

I always use my Kohls charge, so I always get a discount of at least 15%. I almost never walk in without a coupon, and I do the math before I go to the register. I get fabulous sales, and I'm never mad or surprised at the amount I'm paying. If it costs too much, I simply choose not to buy it.

YES, this is exactly what I'm saying. While I still think that's too expensive for ties, it is what it is. Those are the ones that he likes, so those are the ones that he'll get. Thanks for the poster who said that she found the same kind at Marshalls. I'll just have to find a Marshalls around here.

So no, I'm not mad, I'm not OUTRAGED (as someone put it) at the prices but it's like I said in the title, "REALLY, KOHLS?", do you think we're actually stupid to think that we've "saved" this much money shopping here when in actuality you just jacked up the prices to begin with? I KNEW ahead of time how much it was going to cost, because I did look at the price before going to the register (I was calculating to see if I met the $50 to get $10 Kohls cash). I'm just saying TO ME it just seems a bit high to spend $107 for one pair of shorts and 2 ties. Maybe I'm cheap, who knows. :lmao: That's all. My original post wasn't a complaint or saying that I would NEVER shop there again, it was just a simple vent. I have gone there before and scored really well (between sales/clearance/coupons/kohls cash/etc) I still remember getting 3 pairs of shorts for my son for like $22. I was like  I was a happy camper!

So, for the record....it was a simple vent.

You should know that on the DIS a "simple vent" gets escalated to "outrage" and then you get "outrage" dished right back at you. It's amazing to me to read some of these exchanges and see how easily some people get wound up and seem to then enjoy posting ridicule over it.:confused3

Good luck at Marshalls. It can be hit or miss with JG ties. Sometimes they will have tons of them for awhile, then the sell out and it takes awhile till they get them back in.

Thanks for the heads up on Marshalls. I found that the closest one to me is about 45 mins away. I don't get to the area often but next time I'm there, I'll definitely stop in and see what I can find.

Yeah, I've noticed the trend on here with people getting their panties in a bunch often. LOL I usually just read the posts and laugh. I also don't usually get caught up in all the drama, but I just wanted to set the record straight that people didn't really have to get all bent out of shape from what I was trying to say. It was just a simple vent. Thanks for "getting it".

It annoys me too. If the stuff was marked $54 and that's what I paid, no big deal. But if they tell me it's really $104, and they are giving me such a great deal by allowing me to purchase the items for the same price they are at any other reasonable store, I also scoff at them!
