Really Disney.....you're changing the popcorn too!

I never got to try the original popcorn! it was never a priority, but, after hearing how great it was, we decided to try it this trip. Oh well, I will never know what I missed.

Maybe just the popping corn will change but they will keep the same flavoring formula. Could that be possible? I don't know that the popping corn would make that huge of a difference if that's the case. At least, I don't know that I would recognize it. Here's to hoping it remains as delicious as always and a good vegan option for everyone!

If I want Popsecret popcorn, I can go to almost any grocery store and buy it. I can't go anywhere else and buy popcorn that tastes exactly like Disney's. I do hope, as the above poster said, they are just buying the popping corn from Popsecret and retaining the current flavoring.

According to a post on another forum, Disney use louana pop-n-lite popping oil (its a mix of canola and coconut oil) to pop their popcorn. Whether they change the oil and seasoning will determine if the flavour changes.

The flavored popcorn they have at Epcot between the land and Figment is insane, I've never had popcorn so good and something I must have every time I go.

Totally craving this right now! The Buffalo Chicken/Blue Cheese popcorn mixed with Sour Cream popcorn was sooooo good! Got this twice on our August trip!

Well it better be better or taste the same. That popcorn they have been carrying for years is the best I have ever had anywhere.

I agree. I always get a box right after we walk through the main gate at MK. My Dad always did and he doesn't go to Disney anymore because it's too much walking for him...so I do it for that sentimental reason (and because i LOVE it). My kids have now taken to this tradition as well and that warms my heart. I'm hopeful like others have said that the oil and flavorings will remain the same. It's really one of the only foods on the planet that I'm sentimentally attached to!

Well another thing gone. Face it folks once the signs on the car say Pop Secret the product will taste like your typical Pop Secret from the store. Heres why, someone buys great tasting popcorn at the park then goes home & buys it at the store. Finds out its nowhere near the same. They complain. Someone that likes pop secret, buys something from the cart that doesnt taste the same. They complain. So what we will now be getting is dumbed down popcorn at the current or higher price. Its all about $$$$$$. Looks like 1 less thing for me to buys.

I'm bummed about this because my kids are allergic to dairy (among many other things) and the popcorn was one of their only safe snacks at Disney. They also changed their vendor for fries at some point between our last two trips, and we couldn't find safe fries at any QS restaurant this May. Even with the TS restaurants only one location was able to provide safe fries for them. It's just disappointing to have another food taken away when their diet is so restricted already.

Which typical PopSecret? The microwave kind, and if so, which flavor? Or the jars of PopSecret corn kernels with nothing else added?

I'd expect that even people who buy the best sounding flavor of microwave popcorn will know that it's not the same as the old fashioned hot oil poppers. And people who use stove-top poppers will know that the oil and freshness will make a difference.

I would never expect microwave popcorn to be just like what I buy from a movie theater or cart.

I don't think the fries are an issue in regards to dairy. But my twins are also soy allergic and completely grain free. Last trip they almost all had a soy contamination risk while some contained grains such as rice. It's such a shame because they are completely unnecessary ingredients.

Thanks for clarifying! I'm sure you are aware that there are many restaurants who do use dairy ingredients in their fries so I figured WDW was following suit.

And yes, so many of these ingredients are so unnecessary. Just leave things more natural, please! Healthier for everyone!!

Does Disney sell microwave popcorn in the parks???? Pop Secret sells just popping kernels as well as their microwave items. I haven't been to the parks in awhile, so forgive me if I'm clueless, but don't most of the popcorn carts pop their corn? If so, then they should still meet the same allergy standards if they continue with the same oil. Seems that even if they don't pop it onsite, that they'd still pop regular kernels because it's ssooo much cheaper than microwave popcorn.

As for the flavored popcorns--I'd think they'd be an issue for food allergies anyways.

I too purchase a popcorn as soon as we come thru the tunnel at the Magic Kingdom - nothing like sharing a popcorn on a bench and people watching. That said, I will wait until I taste it and make my judgment. Now if they would only get rid of those hacking dry wheat buns served at a lot of quick service restaurants. Won't eat those at all. Yuck!
