Really bummed!!

We have been going to VB since June of 2000. Love it! Well it seems now its impossible to get a 2 bedroom at the 7 month window for 5 consecutive days with out gambling with the wait list. Very bummed so its off to Sanibel Island instead this summer. The first summer in 9 years that we haven't spent at least a week at VB. We shall miss it.

Can you sell the current contract you have and rebuy at VB? VB resales are nicely priced.

That's one reason we decided to buy some points at VB..
As the general DVC membership numbers increase, there will be the same number of rooms at VB.
Even if a only small percentage of members use their points at VB, sooner or later it will be VERY tough to get a ressie... especially a cottage.

I actually considered selling my current contract at BWV's and buying a smaller contract at VB. We'll see.

Wow! Do you think I was just lucky or maybe because of the summer?
I called on December 23 for July 23-31 (8 nights) at 7 months, and was able to get a dedicated 2 bedroom. I do have a beach cottage on waitlist.

We did buy where we intended to stay 10 yrs ago. However, after 2-4 Disney trips a year since 1999 we prefer alternate destinations more often than Disney trips. We did snag HH fort he first week of June, super excited about that!

When did you want to go?

July 18-23rd 2 bedroom. Sunday was available, Monday not, Tues-Fri available. Called at 0902. If it had been Sun or Fri night not available I may have risked waitlisting.

Sunny side- the luxury condo on Sanibel is fabulous for $1200 for 7 nigths right on the beach. Chairs and umbrella included. Seashell capitol of the world. Really kinda excited but sad about VB.

Sorry to hear this. I've really been expecting things to get harder there, what with the additions of SSR, AKV, BLT, and THV, that is a lot of new members and no new beach resort capacity. We love Sanibel, but for me riding the waves is my main entertainment. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

And we shall see you at HHI the same week as we too snagged a studio! This will be our first summer not at VB since we became owners in 2007. It seems like OVIRs are always available so I actually sold my VB small contract. Points reallocation really messed us up. So we too will wish and hope at the 7 mos. mark.

I could probably try for 2 Inn rooms but it is so nice to have the kitchen and living area with 2 teens + girlfriends, preschooler, and toddler. HH is only a 4.5hr drive for us so we may start trying for our shorter trips there, we haven't been since 99 or 2000 so we're really looking forward to it.

Ahhh... Captiva (and Senibel) was or first love. That was before we started 'doing Disney', ...and then Vero.

I would really like to go back. It is more built up now. Used to love all the little cottages in Captiva and walking to the Mucky Duck.
