Real Life game/fun: Calling for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet....first week Oct 2013

Denise....I'll have to seriously work out my schedule in the next month of so. I'm waiting on airline deals to open up for my travel period. At this stage, it's $$$$$ :faint:. Once I know when I'm flying in/out, that's when my planning turns serious.

Well, that makes sense. Keep me posted. I have not booked yet either. :)

WITW?:confused3

I'm still in, but you mention food I am not familiar with.

Balloon is functioning.

I'm still in FL..for most of the rest of the month.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Hmmm....sounds like a good excuse to cook one in the next couple weeks or so and test it out.....PLUS post pictures here. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! Yes about the food. I do not enjoy curry taste, not a problem, to each his own!:)

Bobbi, you may be suffering from the same misconception that I was. I thought that all "curries" were made with curry powder. That would be like assuming all casseroles were made with cream of mushroom soup. I've figured out that the curry is to Eastern culture what the casserole is to Americans. When PIO was here in November she pointed out to me that I was eating all sorts of what she calls curries without even knowing!

Ok, that's interesting to know. Thanks.

Every culture has their form of "sauce".

Western - casserole sauce. Made with aromatic vegetables (onion, carrots, celery etc), spices and/or herbs (pepper, salt, cinnamon, parsley), a liquid (stock or some sort) and simmered.

Italian - pasta sauce. Made with aromatic vegetables (onion, carrots, celery etc), spices and/or herbs (pepper, salt, cinnamon, parsley), a liquid (tomato based, or cream) and simmered.

French - meat sauce. Made with aromatic vegetables (onion, carrots, celery etc), spices and/or herbs (pepper, salt, cinnamon, parsley), a liquid (wine, butter or cream) and simmered.

Asian - curry sauce. Made with aromatic vegetables (onion, spring onion, galangal, lemon grass etc in any combination), spices (be it with curry powder or not), a liquid (tomato based, tamarind based or coconut based)....and simmered.

Seems like there's a lot in common. ;)

Be afraid......be very very afraid.

Qantas went on sale today.

I'm flying into LAX on the 13 Sept. Will be flying out from LAX on the 10 Oct. Let the planning begin in earnest!

Alison - How do you feel about a tweak to those BCV dates??????

Let me know ASAP on the tweak dates. Email is best. I will call tomorrow.

Folks - I've updated the first post with names of Dissers going and their dates.

Let me know if any changes are needed. :goodvibes

I'm currently booked for the 2 - 9th October; but I was hoping to arrive late September and stay to the 7th October. That would provide me with more scope for planning my journey back to Melbourne than leaving Orlando on the 9th.

That would still provide me with complete overlap with Bobbi. Bobbi's dates are 3 - 6 October.

I think you were hoping to be there in the latter part of September into the first couple of days in October.

We'd be looking to do a cook-off dinner when Bobbi was at the World.

Hmmmm.......we need to start really figuring out our activities and what ADRs we are going to do; and whether we are going to do any together or not.

Okay. My dates are now 29th September - 7th October; staying at the BCV.

Denise - When are you planning on being there?
Ed - Have you decided when you'll be at WDW?

I am only a 2 1/2 hour drive away from WDW so i am there any date. Just will have to ask off from work if we meet during a weekday

Maybe we should look at crowd projections and pick one of the busieet days for the cook off. My guess is that it would be Saturday. I would like to spend a good deal of time enjoying the food booths at Epcot on the weekdays.

I'm also hoping to do some F&W events like dinners or if they have the Grand Mariner tasting again...

We probably should also check park open/close hours and when EMH are; and when the F&W and MNSSHP events are on.
