Real Life game/fun: Calling for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet....first week Oct 2013

I have always booked Pontoon boats with Disboarders & it has always been fine. Another option for wishes is the Pirate Dessert Party if you don't get enough others to share the cost of just the pontoon boats, but it is pricey in itself.

We have done it, the interaction with crew is hilarious.

I would only stay another night if I get a T/Th schedule. I hope we can plan the cookout, and either Boat or Fantasmic within the days I am there. I think a MNSSHP is another possibility, and if I have to miss something, that would be OK, because I really do enjoy them, but they are walking intensive.

I think my itinerary is firming up. I haven't posted on my PTR yet but it will look something like this.

13 Sep: LA/Anaheim (4 nights)
17 Sep: Sedona (3 nights)
20 Sep: Grand Canyon (2 nights)
22 Sep: Page (2 nights)
24 Sep: Monument Valley (1 night)
25 Sep: Durango (4 nights)
29 Sep: WDW (8 nights)
7 Oct: Universal (2 nights)
9 Oct: LA (1 night)
10 Oct: Depart for Melbourne.

DH's cousin and his wife (from Dallas) will be able to meet up with us in the Durango area; but only in late September. So, we're going to maximise our time time and hope to get to Universal after Disney.

I think I've worked out what I want to do in the Sedona through to Monument Valley component.
Time to start looking at Disney! :cool1:

I think since we are staying in DVC villas, we have members & guests, we can go to the Top of the World at BLT. You get a different view of the fireworks, they pipe in the music, it's a nice lounge. If there was a non park day, that's a great way to end the day, with Disney magic!

We are determined to make it to a water park this trip. We've not made time on any of our visits so this is going to be high on our priority list. How do we get access to Top of the World?

I think we're there for 7 full days and I was thinking of getting a 7 day PHWFandM ticket. I had assumed that even after the water park, we would want to have the option to get to a park afterwards. I don't know if I'd rethink the ticket if we then dovetailed a trip to BLT afterwards.....

Bobbi - I was just looking at the calendar (*smacks hand on head*). DH is celebrating a birthday on the 3rd of October (no one take that as a hint for present giving!!). How about we try for the Wishes pontoon on that night? It's a Thursday.....I wonder how late the parks are opened to? The alternative is Wednesday the 2nd, which will be the 3rd in Australia.

I once celebrated my birthday at WDW and we celebrated for 2 days. Looks like we might have to do the same again for DH. :rotfl2:

Wow! A fury of planning going on!

Seems like you've added a night! :thumbsup2

Maybe we could all do fantasmic! dining together. That would make 4 of us on the pontoon; if Fran and Alison don't want to do it. I could check around; there are other Aussies going to be there at the same time.....maybe we could drum up enough interest.

Fantasmic is not with the pontoon. That would be Wishes, and I would still be interested in doing that. I hadn't talked about it lately since it was just the six of us doing it, but if we got some Aussies interested that would bring the cost down. I've never booked it, but it sounds pretty fun.

I would.

I woud do Fantasmic with meal at Brown Derby.

I know that I am not there as long as the rest, so I will miss things.

Bobbi:goodvibes

We would love to have you join us Bobbi. That would be sometime then either Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday for the Brown Derby. We are leaving Monday and I plan to book our flights this weekend. I've just been wrestling with the logistics for our cruise out of Galveston. We would never have booked it if we'd known the problems of getting to that port!

I sense a new PTR coming on! :scratchin

Sounds like the same dates will be open for our cookout. That would be sometime then either Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. We will probably pass on MNSSHP, the cost of a hard admission ticket doesn't seem that worth it for us, since we aren't all that into trick or treating and I'm not sure the parade is a $70 draw.

The itinerary looks good. I've booked two nights at the VCG, but after Sunny's little incident, it might be hard to get Fran to want to stay out there. I booked the 15th and 16th in a one bedroom. I can always cancel as late as August. I don't know how that works in your plans.

We arrive at WDW on the 29th as well, but we are at VWL for the first three nights. I'd be up for something during that time possibly meeting up for a trip through a park or a meal, but definitely planning a lot of the hanging out once we're all at the BCV.

We can definitely celebrate DH's birthday somewhere in there!

Did I say Fantasmic? I must be tired.

You're right. I'm thinking of Wishes pontoon. Preferable a pontoon with piped music. If you and Fran are interested, that would make it six. I haven't asked any of the Aussies yet because I don't know if Ed might be interested, when he's joining us etc. Is the pontoon HA? Will Fran be able to transfer... I've been googling to find out and I'm not sure.....

I'd like to be able to check out the schedule for MNSSHP. I think we might only have one party night during the week we are there and I'd really like to take DS to it.

Okay. You, Bobbi and I overlap on the 4 nights.

We already have MNSSHP to juggle around; and it seems like we have 3 things we'd like to do together:

  • The cookout
  • Brown Derby
  • Wishes Pontoon

Seems like we're starting to cook with gas here. :thumbsup2

My plans for DLR are to stay in the area from 13 - 17th. I know you hang on to your VCG points because you go so often; but just say the word and I'm more than happy to see if we can work something out!!! ;)

Alison - I think I did know that you had booked those days at VGC. I've checked my notes. I've got Disney days written down for the Sunday and the Monday. I'm going to need to sort out tickets soon.....

Fran is doing much better, so she should have no problem getting on the boat. She plans on tendering in Grand Cayman so if she can do that, she can get on a pontoon.

Are you meaning did you want to rent points at the VGC? Actually we have a lot of VGC points because they canceled F&W so we don't have much reason to stay out there. If you do speak quickly. The seven month window has opened up for your trip and the resort is almost booked on points.

Alison - I think I did know that you had booked those days at VGC. I've checked my notes. I've got Disney days written down for the Sunday and the Monday. I'm going to need to sort out tickets soon.....

I was going to take care of your tickets for you. Just let me know the number of days you will be going so that I can reserve them in our allotment.

I will be off the computer for a while. Darcy and Jim are here and we are going to 1st street to do some work.

As far as going to the top of the world. It would be a day that you overlaped with a member, because sometimes it's not enough just to be staying DVC, they asked to see the Member Card.

It's simply a matter of going to BLT, meeting in the lobby, showing room keys and the member card and you are directed to an elevator to take you to the lounge.

The perspective of seeing Wishes would be similar to how you see Wishes ( or Hallowishes if it's the night of MNSSHP) from the Cali Grill.

Even if we go to a park some days, we find it just nicer, out of the crowds to go up to the lounge to relax and see the fireworks.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. Cookout, Wishes Pontoon and Brown Derby sound like good things to do together. As far as Raglan Road, if it could be fit in on the other night, or the Top of the World, or something new...Great! PIO, sure thing about going to MNSSHP they really are fun! Great Parade, I think the best Disney does. Your family will love it, I'm sure!

Thanks for clarifying it Bobbi. I did google it and realised that we would need to have a DVC member staying at BLT in order to access; so it's probably off my list. Most of us are staying at BCV.

I'm not sure when Alison is thinking of going to Cali Grill. I was hoping to find some time today to look at what restaurants I really want to eat at. But my MiL is here visiting and I have some work to do this afternoon; so it might have to wait til tonight.

We're going to have to get our plans sorted as I think the ADR 180 window opens up at the end of this month. Likewise with the pontoons; but that's going to be tough as I'm not sure when Disney will release the October schedule.

I would suggest that we do the F! Package on Wednesday only because that is check in day for most of us. We should already have the kitchen in the morning for the day we want to do the cookout in case anything needs marinating, chopping or whatever. I might vote for Friday for that one. Epcot starts getting packed on Friday night for F&W so that might be a good time to avoid it. If we started in late afternoon, maybe a park might have EMH to hit afterwards. There's always Jellyrolls, although Sharon's DS might not appreciate it or be able to get in.

Sounds like a plan to me. I was also thinking the cookout might be good at the weekend to avoid Epcot.

Hopefully I'll have a few nights for MNSSHP options and we can get in on another night to leave these nights free for the DisMeets.

They have lightened the rules. For now any DVC member can visit TOTWL. I'm not sure how long it will remain that way.

We are planning on CalI Grill fir either Monday or Tuesday night. If we end up at HBD on Wed. then. I would do CG on Mon to avoid two signatures in a row.

I'd like to keep Saturday afternoon free so that if they do the Grand Mariner tasting I can attend. In the past it has only been offered on Saturdays at 2:30 PM. We could possibly do wishes that night then or Thursday.

So I'm arriving on the 29th. Still have to work out flights and book them from Durango; and I'm leaving WDW on the 7th.

By my count, that's 7 full days. I'm thinking of buying the 7 days park hopper plus water fun ticket. It might be overkill...but it gives me the option of going to the parks every day.

Here's a draft first pass.....

30th September - I think that that might be an overlap day with dhorner. Hopefully this is the Magic Kingdom day.

1 October - Blizzard Beach day, Epcot for F&W - pending park hours and EMH at the other parks.

2 October - If this is the Fantasmic! night, then I guess I'll be heading to DHS here.

3 October - I suspect this might be a MNSSHP night. If this is the case and it's the only party night whilst we are there, we might have to keep this night open. If not, then this could be the Wishes pontoon night.

4 October - Cook out? Pending park hours, this could be Animal Kingdom; in which case I'd be looking at Tusker House breakfast.

5 October - [Alison wants to keep the afternoon free for the F&W Grand Marnier tasting].

6 October -

7 October - check out day.

Flight times on Wednesday do not allow me to get to WDW for any lunch ADRs, and dinners would be iffy. I am fine with missing the F! Meal.

The rules for going to Top of the World when staying on points with a DVC member have been extended through this year. There are nights exempted, but not when we're there.

Bobbi:)

Yes  Monday, Sept 30th is a day I will be there :yay: It will be my last full day. I leave the next morning

And, yes, it is a must for me to spend my last night in the MK. I do not think Monday's are ever a MNSSHP night. And/or I would also be up for something in the morning. I will have a park hopper ticket so I could be anywhere. There are some places I want to hit for breakfasts like the Kona Cafe for the pancakes at the Poly, or Chef Mickey's or didn't Bobbi recommend someplace for breakfast..... Captain's Grill? at the Yacht Club? I could save one for you if you'd like to meet for breakfast? We usually get up for a rope drop somewhere and then do a later breakfast. Then take our afternoon break. Then go back to the MK for the evening.

Or, plan your day and I will pick some place from your itinerary to meet.

I thought that MNSSHP was usually on Tuesdays and Fridays, I could be wrong. Ill have to start filling in some of the blanks on my spreadsheet, and think about plans. Depending on plans I would like to meet up on Monday, but I don't want to DISmeet Fran out too much, so depending on your final plans we'll see. I've always wanted to try Kona for breakfast. Although Fran also likes 1900 Park Fare so I'll have to discuss it with her.
