Real Life game/fun: Calling for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet....first week Oct 2013

Okay. My dates are now 29th September - 7th October; staying at the BCV.

Denise - When are you planning on being there?
Ed - Have you decided when you'll be at WDW?

I am looking at Sept 24 - Oct 1 or Sept 25 - Oct. 2 but, have not booked yet. Assuming you will be busy getting there on the 29th and I might be leaving on the first, what are your plans for Monday, Sept. 30th?

I have no idea.....but I think it might involve catching up with you. :rotfl: Will your cousin be there as well?

Yes, Jason will be with me.

Alison, will you and Fran be there then too?

If it is my last day in the parks, I will want to end my day in the MK. I always have to begin and end in the MK. I usually hit a park in the morning (there for the rope drop) then take a resort break in the afternoon and then go back to a park in the evening, trying to stay til closing.

Here is what Touring Plans says about the 30th:

Folks....my first draft firm'ish itinerary which I posted on my Anyone Game PTR looks like this.

13 Sep: LA/Anaheim (4 nights)
17 Sep: Sedona (3 nights)
20 Sep: Grand Canyon (2 nights)
22 Sep: Monument Valley (1 night)
23 Sep: Durango (3 nights)
26 Sep: Albuquerque (1 night)
27 Sep: Universal (2 nights)
29 Sep: WDW (8 nights)
7 Oct: LA (3 nights)
10 Oct: Depart for Melbourne.

I'll be blogging/musing about each section of the trip ad nauseum on the PTR; but I was wondering about ADRs. We have between now and the end of March to figure it out.

Well, considering that we are going during F&W, our policy is to only make a few "meaningful" ones. Those in addition to our cookout sh oild be all we need as a group. We can also do stuff on our own that doesn't suit the grouip. When I'm not so tired and typing on the computer ill k ist some of the stuff Fran and I want to do regardless.

I need to do think about the few meaningful ones we want to do. I imagine that we'll want to do breakfast....so I'm fairly safe in thinking that no one else will be joining us a pre-RD time. :lmao:

But I did wonder if there were other places that others might want to join in with us for the one ADR on. I can't imagine us wanting to make more than 2 table service and 2 breakfasts in the 8 days. Not when there is F&W and our cookout.

Hi...just checking in. I thoroughly enjoyed my month in FL, and came home to temps that haven't been above freezing for most of the week, 19 degrees right now.

I have some health decisions to make, and some doctors to see regarding my walking. I'm on the fence regarding another toe operation. I did alright in FL as is. I did not keep up with friends, but met them for awhile, then we parted. I enjoy more " resort" time rather than "park" time.

Your itinerary looks great, PIO, you are doing a lot!!The Grand Canyon & Durango are my favorites on your list. Will you stay on site at either national park?

Looking forward to this Meet! The restaurants I like best are Chefs, Artist Point, Cape May Cafe, & Trail's End. Be Our Guest is OK, & I can understand if it's on a "must do" for folks. I've been there twice for dinner, with 2 more reservations coming up. I enjoy the buffet at Captain's Grill for breakfast, lox is included, they will make omelettes. I've read good things about Kouzinna's for breakfast, I've had great dinners there, too.

As DVCers, guests staying on points, we would be allowed to see Wishes from the Top of the World at BLT. It's a different perspective to see wishes from, and it's been a "must do" for me & my friends, especially if there are "no park" days.

Looking forward to reading what everyone wants to do!

Welcome back Bobbi.

I'm looking to stay on the NP at Grand Canyon and hopefully for Monument Valley as well. We're are hoping to meet up with DH's family in Colorado and at this stage, nothing's really confirmed until DH sends them an email with the dates and we find out if the dates work for them. I've only reminded him three times now.

I'd like to see BOG because it's new.

We like Chefs and have eaten dinner at Kouzzina's.

I need to gently nudge DH or I'll completely swamp him with too much planning. So, I need to get up a short list for restaurants for what I want and run it by him.

Hopefully, I'll get round to it in the next 3 weeks or so.

I have received an e-mail regarding the fall semester, and I did mention that I wanted to teach. So, that's the first step. Once I know my schedule, I will add on a day or two to my reservation. I hope it's soon enough to hopefully still be at BCV.:goodvibes

OK,
We're back home again. While we are at VWL (Sept 29-Oct2) I would like to have a dinner at the California Grill.

I'll have to talk to Fran about BoG for dinner. We weren't that impressed with lunch there. It was nice and all, but certainly not all that special.

We really enjoyed our meal at Chefs de France so I'd be happy to go back there.

Kouzzina was good when we ate there shortly after it opened.

We've never eaten at Cape May, but I'm sure that would be a good one as it is like a New England Clambake.

The other place that we would definitely like to go to is Raglan Road, we ate at Cooke's (QS from Raglan Road) and the food was excellent, so I'm sure that the sit down portion (that has even more variety) would have some great food in addition to the simple food that we enjoyed.

I haven't started my "spreadsheet" for this trip yet, but that would probably be a good idea to start musing on where and when to dine and what to do. This trip was kind of nice to play it by ear and get to try lots of different QS dining places. I found a few places that were pretty good and don't need an ADR!

There's plenty of other places that we like, but in keeping with your list, I picked the ones that like most.

Oh, I forgot to say that Fran definitely wants to do the F! dining package on this next trip. We do the Hollywood Brown Derby because she doesn't want to try Mama Melrose's and I'm not sure what the other one on the plan is.

We are fine with going to the Signature restaurants that we want to hit just ourselves, but we are more than happy to have company if anyone wants to join us.

I'm thinking that since we talked about a couple options for dinner, Fran and I could do the Signatures on our own and we could do two others as a group or some combination thereof. Four ADRs would be plenty for us with the F&W offerings. It might be best to plan a Saturday night ADR out of Epcot so that it is more calm. The F&W tends to be packed on weekends, so unless you are doing a reserved food event, we try to steer clear.

PIO, I know you mentioned breakfast, and there is only one breakfast that I think Fran would get up early to meet you folks at before a rope drop (if it is even open that early), so we may just do breakfasts on our own.

The one thing I really want to do is the Grand Mariner tasting if they offer that on Saturday afternoons. In the past it has been at 2:30PM and they give you four different shots (tastes) plus some yummy desserts. I hope they offer it again this year, as I will be signing up for that!

I'd love to do the Fantasmic! dining package. Brown Derby would be definitely the one I'd like to do.

Raglan Road was on my list; just a matter of when.

Cape May will be easy to do; as it's just downstairs from where we are staying.

I'll probably book a breakfast. At the moment, Tusker House is high on my list. I'd love to do 'Ohanas as well; but I don't know when.

I'm arriving Sunday the 29th; and I've been working my trip plans in order. I think I've just about sorted out my time between Disneyland to WDW. We're spending longer in the 4-corners (Arizona/Colorado) area than originally thought. DH's cousins from Dallas are free to join us from 25 -29 September. I'll be looking to fly in from Durango to Orlando on the 29th.

We'll be doing Universal after Disney and cutting back on time in LA at the end.

I hope to be updating my PTR with more detail in the next week or so. Just need to agree on a few more things with DH and then the detailed planning and booking can begin.

Okay! So it sounds like three ADR dinners between the two of our families. That's very cool with me! The more time we can have with you the better!

So it sounds like we will work out a F! dining package with Hollywood Brown Derby, do a night at Raglan Road and another at Cape May Cafe. We can make our own reservation at CA Grill. Maybe we might want to do Raglan Road early on while Fran and I are at VWL, or not. Like I said I have not even started to look at my spreadsheet. That's when I finally start to figure out what is good for which night.

We are definitely not good for going out on the night we arrive. No one wants to see Fran that night. I mgiht be OK, but not really good. Best that the two of us eat something in the room that I cook from our grocery delivery service!

This is all very exciting! Yay! planning is beginning!

Lets just see how it all works out. But that sounds like a plan. If I had to drop one, it would possibly be Cape May. We still have to fit the cook-out in between everything.

I just booked the night of October 2nd to add to the other dates, so now I have the 2 to the 6th booked. I will be leaving WDW on Sunday.

As I was playing with the on line booking, I noticed that the Sunday night was already booked, whereas the Wednesday was available. Because I didn't want to have to move, even if I was willing to, I decided to take that night and I would deal with my schedule when I get it.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Seems like you've added a night! :thumbsup2

Maybe we could all do fantasmic! dining together. That would make 4 of us on the pontoon; if Fran and Alison don't want to do it. I could check around; there are other Aussies going to be there at the same time.....maybe we could drum up enough interest.
