REAL ID (verified license) to fly?

May as well throw this in the pot......plans rigth now are to require Passports for all domestic flights in 2020.

That will settle the License issue. For flying and *loop* cruise ID.

hmm...that might thrown a wrench in the statement TSA has in their own website: "Starting on Oct. 1, 2020, every air traveler will need a REAL ID-compliant license, or another acceptable form of identification, for domestic air travel."- statement from 1/21/16.

Maybe they updated after that statement??

Anything is possible, I read the passport thing about a month ago and TSA was saying the issue over the individual states and the licences was out of hand and they were going to go to passports. Seems it would be a.big problem for that any Passports to be issued.

Time will tell

They're always updating/postponing the compliant thing while the politicians posture and delay taking action.

Oh for sure anything is possible..this whole business has been quite a mess. But it tends to be that when you have rules that the federal government wants all the states to adopt. The thing I don't like about it is if they force passports to be the only thing accepted is the high cost of them; it's nowhere near equalivalent to what paying for a driver's license is.

I have a passport but only because we went out of the country for our honeymoon otherwise I didn't truly have a reason to get it.

I doubt they will require passports for all. Not only the cost but the processing time. No last minute decisions to fly if you don't already have a passport. It will push more people onto the road, which will increase highway death stats. Same reason they don't stop the lap baby rule.
