Also, what in the world is the Stave Church exhibit?

For our family? Yes, Maelstrom was a classic. We even loved the movie at the end.

The Stave Church was like a mini museum in Norway that showcased Norwegian history. It closed and re opened either late last year or early this year and it was changed to add scenes and clothing from the movie, Frozen.

I am not anti-Frozen. It is on my top movie list! However, I disagree with how they are doing the castle lighting at MK and the Frozen desert party at Osborne Lights/HS is RIDICULOUS!!! Disney is making that bank though with obsessed Elsa fans.

I just don't understand everyone's obsession with Frozen. It was a cute movie, but I think there have been just as good recent ones, like Tangled, Brave and Princess and the Frog. What makes Frozen so special?

I think Disney is just trying to keep up with the demand for it. But I really don't get it. And what they're doing to Norway to support all this hype is just sad.

You all are tired of Frozen, but there are tens of thousands of Disney, visitors, perhaps hundreds of thousands of visitors, who are new and are not tired of Frozen. These folks can't get enough. I am also Disney stockholder and am ecstatic that they have a hit movie. Disney is not just about you but it is for everyone. I am also here right now seeing all the little kids in costume. They love it.

I think you are right. Frozen has mass appeal and has certainly proven to be more than just a "flavor of the month". I think it was pointed out in another post that the actual "takeover" of Frozen as spun by some people has probably been a little over blown. 6 months ago, people were screaming that there wasn't enough dedicated to Frozen in the parks. They add a few attractions and now it is too much? I think the hordes of people waiting in lines for their piece of Frozen memories would probably disagree. Some people just enjoy knocking anything that is new and popular.

I also think that the minority of people who are burning their copies of Frozen because Disney temporarily switched up the castle lighting ceremony to feature Frozen characters need to get a grip on reality.

To all you Frozen fans, I'm going to start this post with a request not to flame me! It's not that I have anything against Frozen - it was a cute movie with great characters and I'm happy for Disney and the success it's brought the company...but hasn't the 15 minutes of fame run out yet? Now the Christmas parade is called "The Disney Frozen Christmas Celebration"?!? I'm wondering when they will rename Walt Disney World to Walt Disney World of Frozen?

Just looking forward to the day when Disney is not all things Frozen - anyone else feel the same?

I love the movie, but can honesty say, "Let it gooo Disney! I'm over it!" It is getting annoying, really! The whole Maelstrom and castle lighting fiasco threw me over the edge...

I think they did their best to grab the Frozen hype while it was hot rather than wait a year or two to develop one particular ride for it. So they fit it where they could, while the demand is there, and eventually it will die down. It won't be front and center forever.

I believe the keywords are "for your family". I, on the other hand, hadn't even heard of it before it was being replaced and everyone was suddenly outraged.

That's not what I said. I'm saying that people are getting really emotional over a ride most people ignored prior to the Frozen takeover. Honestly, I had been glancing at TRs for at least two years before officially joining the dis and nobody mentioned Maelstrom for the most part. Just an observation, not a fact. Disney went "Once Is Frozen" with Once Upon a Time to cash in on the theme and my favorite show has kicked a wonderful core cast aside to make room for Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, and The Snow Queen (Anna and Elsa's aunt. Probably going to figure into the next movie.)

The turning of the Norway pavilion makes me wonder if each of the pavilions will now become a homage to movies.

Mexico - Three Cabarellos (sp?) won't cut it.
Noway - Frozen
China - Mulan
Germany - Snow White
Italy - Pinocchio
US - Pochahontas
Japan - ?
Morroco - Aladdin
France - Beauty and the Beast
UK - 101 Dalmatians, Winnie the Pooh, Mary Poppins
Canada - Brother Bear

I'm sorry but no matter how you slice it and whether you like it or not putting a Frozen themed ride in the Norway pavilion totally resets the World Showcase. It's a vast departure from the original intent.

Personally, I don't think the movie was that great. Has catchy music, cute story, but I didn't find it "defining" in any way. It simply is.

They added a frozen segment to celebrate the magic (projection show) and as much as I get a little tired of seeing frozen all over the place when the song played and to hear the WHOLE crowd erupt into "let it go" I got a little teary.

It means a lot to a whole generation of children AND adults.

Couldn't agree more. Frozen means a lot to so many people. I get why people think Disney is going overkill, but it's left a huge and visible impact on hundreds of thousands of people. And Let it Go is just an empowering song to hear by one person, let alone hundreds. In fact- this thread has inspired me to pop Frozen into my computer and chillax with the Elsa build-a-bear I made.

I agree. When the change was announced, it was interesting to hear many people say, "I had not bothered riding Maelstrom in years but how dare they replace it with Frozen!". Maybe that is why they made the change? I liked Maelstrom. It was a fun, quirky ride but I was very meh about it being replaced.

I have ridden Maelstrom several times and I found it boring for the most part. I don't know that I'll like the Frozen ride any better but if I have my little ones I will.
As for the movie, having 2 little granddaughters brings the whole sister theme to our household. I love the story, am glad it wasn't a beautiful princess who met the handsome prince and they all lived happily ever after.
I am excited to take my granddaughters to all the Frozen events. There are plenty of ways to avoid and ignore it.

Frozen is Disney's "flavor of the month". Something else will come along in the next year or so that will replace a lot of the Frozen mania related stuff.

When DD was a little girl, WDW was in the grip of Lilo & Stitch mania. Stitch took over the monorail spiel as well as wake up calls. He also TP'd the Castle and was all over the place for meet and greets. Eventually, Stitch cooled off and now he is really only visible at Stitch's Great Escape.

I don't possibly see how you can relate Stitch to Frozen. Not even close. And I really don't see how you can call Frozen the "flavor of the month". Laughable at best. Frozen is the highest grossing animated film of all time. Honestly, if Disney sat on it and did nothing, they would be flamed. They respond to fan requests and they are screwed. What exactly is it that you would like them to do?

Here are some of my thoughts.

Frozen is a huge hit because of the people. The movie has made an emotional connection with viewers young and old and that's what makes it a success. As a mother of daughters and having a sister of my own, I get it.

Considering how many people are at Disney at a given time, Disney is attempting to meet demand. The demand is there.
