Storm ravaged, yes. I lived right outside New Orleans until Katrina. House had a fair amount of damage but not nearly as bad as most. Also, DH (Dick) worked in the hotel IT department so he lost his job due to lack of work, yada yada.

We were able to sell our house and move here, where my company relocated me. We have a new house and Dick has a new job. He just got a huge raise after only 6 months!

Overall, we are much better off here, but I miss my hot sausage and french bread in a BAD way.

Horsy - I'll try to post some pics of my horses. Won't be as awesome as that pic in your siggie though. That one could easily be a portrait.

Tink - I had to look up what cow peas are. Cow peas = black-eyed peas. Never had them before!

Parents are back home. For now. While here they rented an apartment so they could 'test' living in Austin, so they will be back in mid-November for 9 months. We looked at a million minus three apartments over the week they were here.

They picked the one that is two minutes from my house.

I did not lose my temper or sense of humor all week. I am very proud of myself. I feel so grown up. I wonder if I can make it for 9 months? I know it will be a little stressful and a huge time suck to have them close by but I really am looking forward to it. Mostly. Except when I dread it.

We can always move to Canada again if we need to



I missed all sorts of stuff here, again.

Grammy I hope the room situation is all fixed up. That is always my greatest fear, that they will screw up my ressie.

BDG You really took that long to find us? I always figured you were lurking over here. I miss the TOOT. But time is short and my lists are long these days, so I am only playing here (and not muchly). TFI, that is my way of sadin' welcome aboard.

I leave in 3 weeks. Yikes. Plus I spent a whole week doing stuff for my parents and putting my 'stuff' on the back burner. So now I am way behind. I have about five ten hundred things to do, so I will not be here muchly this week. I hope I can catch-up by next week.
