Hey Sher......can you use this?

What a day! Busy, busy, in meetings all day, got home at 6:30, then just spent an hour answering e-mails. I am now caught up! And because I have to go to Hartford tomorrow morning, I get a whole extra hour to sleep! Sooo, I'm looking forward to seeing some friends tonight. :sunny:

Kimmie, That's my favorite Andy Rooney Riff! It is all soooo true.

Tink, don't be wolley. I know it's tough, but it's amazing how fast they adapt. I was a WRECK last year when my youngest started Middle School. He's got special challenges, and I was just sure it was going to be a disaster. He did just fine!!

That being said, Middle School does kinda suck. But I like Haley's POV!! That was a good one, girlie, and so true!

Mark, eloquent as always. Drop by more often, will ya?

Pongo, baby, I was so busy today that I never even got a chance to send you an e-mail. I will try to call you sometime in the next day or two. Try to pick up the phone, this time, okay?!?!?

Horsey, happy to see your cute little avatar here again. We certainly missed you, mama!!

Finally, I'm lovin all the camera advice. We need one, too. I now feel well prepared to make a decision! (We are total photography novices, but I've always wanted a Canon, since I've never heard a bad word. Will have to check out all the recommendations!!)

As usual, I spent my evening watching DD at gymnastics. Actually, I barely watched her because there was better entertainment in the watching area.

(Don't know what else to call it...a section of the gym is walled off, with windows so parents can see into the gym...but not yell directions to the kids...)

Anyway, the owner of the gym announced the fall hours for the girls in my daughters group. All of the girls are "new" to the team...and have all started training more hours, which has been an adjustment for everyone. (It seems like it has been harder on the parents, tho, cause the girls love what they are doing.)

The schedule is: Tuesday, Thursday....and Saturday. The girls in this group range from age 6 to age 11. Most of the girls are 8 years old and going into the 3rd grade. (Mine is only 6 and entering first grade.) There were concerns about increased homework etc. in addition to 9 hours a week in the gym, so the owner decided 2 school days was better than 3...hence the Saturday practice. (makes sense to me...but it really doesn't matter, mine is only going into first and since my older one was in first last year I know what to expect homework wise...I am confident she can handle it).

So...some of the mom's start talking. They can't believe that anyone would schedule practice on a SATURDAY. Don't they know that people like to take skiing trips on the weekends?? Plus, they wanted to sign their daughter up for soccer, and swimming, and tennis, and irish step dancing, and ballet...and all of THOSE classes are on Saturdays. They feel the gym has NO RIGHT to schedule saturday practices.

Now, let me say this. I feel it is up to each family to determine what is right for them, but when my daughter was given this opportunity ( a goal she set for herself, and worked for herself, and acheived herself) we sat down and had a serious talk. Even though she is only 6, I told her that 9 hours a week is a BIG commitment. Once you decide to do this, you will be giving up other things. (Like other sports, maybe play dates etc.) I told her to be SURE this was what she wanted. Paying for 9 hours a week in the gym is NOT CHEAP. (not to mention the mandatory leotards, paying for memership fees, and competitions etc).

With our (mine and DH) help, DD decided this was a commitment she could make. We have worked our lives around it to help her succeed. I have other kids with other interests, and have to consider them as well, but we always find a way to make it work if the kids want to do something...KWIM???

These other mom's expect the gym (which has 900 gymnasts total including recreational classes/ teams etc.) to work around them....I just don't get it. Who do these people think they are??? Why do people think THEY are the only ones that matter???

Just had to bump us up....We were below someone asking if they should wear pantyhose to a job interview.

May I ask...who cares?!?

Good Night All!!

I found this in my inbox last night. It's from a good friend:

Can anyone give advice on Disney World? There are volumes of info. online and at the library. Too much information. "Park Hopper options," "advance purch. discount," ...too many choices. And where to stay and which places to see? Planning this vacation could become a full time job. Can anyone put this in simple terms for me?

I have discerned that the best time to go is early December. (few crowds & beautiful decorations)

Next step: We would like the cheapest way to spend 2 days (we will be driving there). My kids don't like superfast roller coasters or princesses and don't know who Mickey Mouse is, but they love animals and nature. I'm guessing Animal Kingdom is the best place for us. But what to do the second day?

How do you answer that?

My stab at the reply included:The only simple answer is: there is no simple answer, to buy the Unofficial Guide and to go to Universal for the second day.

Okay, let me pull out my box of excuses. . .
Please choose one of the following:
A) Pot was boiling over on the stove
B) An alligator was in my bathtub
C) Exit to Eden with Dana Delaney was on HBO
D) My computer froze up at just that very moment when I started to edit
E) Was teleported to an alien spaceship to meet Zhigahk, Borg Commander
:confused3

Sher ~ glad to see the enforcer out early this morning. I think.

My apologies for my late arrival last night folks. I hope that doesn't happen for our meet chat, too.

Working on a new project for work, waiting to hear about the next step for the other job prospect.
