Panama City Beach, Florida.

The redneck capital of the world. Oh wait. That’s Georgia, isn’t it?

No, Panama City is the Redneck Riviera -- being from Mississippi, I thought you would've known that. Macon is the redneck capital of the world -- we's more civilized up here in the big city.

Cause I love you all dearly, but when you say it out loud…..well, ya know. Yeah right. Like I'd ever say it out loud. Again.

Frankly, I don't even think it -- I find it's much better for my peace of mind.

It just so happens that while we were there, the resort was hosting a cheer camp. Yes. Cheerleaders. Everywhere. There were cheerleaders in every nook and cranny of that place. They were well behaved for the most part, but the pool and the beach quickly became more crowded than a bus bound for POR on an Epcot EMH night when they came around.

CIMG3581.jpg

Oh sure -- you post umpteen pictures of food and beautiful beaches, but only one of the cheerleaders? Like that's right. Sheesh.

LaLa said:
And last but certainly not least, that you should never, ever look a gift horse in the mouth.

Yeah, and you should avoid the other end too. I'm just sayin'.

Nice report La2. Next time though -- more cheerleaders!

Took my boy to the doctor this morning for his 2 year check-up. He is still in the 10th percentile for both height and weight. If he was female, we would call him dainty. He was suitably charming and impressive in showing off his various skills (body parts, talking in phrases, climbing, dexterity, naming colors, etc.) and consented to give the P.A. (whom I adore) a big hug at the end.

And he's getting serious about his potty training. He's been dry for 2 days at school. He has a harder time concentrating at home, but is having moderate success. He likes his big boy underwear.

My little Ethan, and I mean little. He's 3, 36inch and only about 28 pounds, fully clothed and soaking wet. It's especially bad since Kaleb, who is only 18 months is about 33in and 25 pounds. :rotfl: I have one who is off the charts in one direction and one who isn't even on the charts in the other. heh.

Glad he's doing good with his potty training! Hope he keeps it up! :thumbsup2

Well, since my brain found me, it also found LaLa's mini-trippie

Which is beautiful, by the way, LaLa. So glad you had such a nice trip.

Especially glad for this:
Reason: And luckily, we didn't have any injuries like Mr. Big Horns and Amy did on their beach trip.
I assume that no one uttered those famous last words "just one more time" (at least not while on the beach.)

I hate to contradict, but actually, the Redneck Riviera is Gulf Shores, Alabama. We should know. We visit often.

True dat, my friend. True dat.

I'll keep that in mind. And thanks Chappie. I've really missed you and the way you make me do the LaLa.

Good afternoon all.

Have you all been behaving yourselves while I was away? I should certainly hope not.

I came out of hiding to post on the "Confused" thread on the TR board and thought I would drop by here while I was in the neighborhood.

Darryl - Jump right in sir, the water's fine. Oh, and enjoy your heretofore pain free existance....cause a leg waxing is in your future.

LaLa - Great report as always girl.

Sher - Just curious if I missed any pics that I should go back and find. Shoes? Short black skirts? The absence of shoes and short black skirts?

Lou - Those pics were even posted in the correct order of importance.

Mel - I hope you had a wonderful birthday. I am sorry not to have posted anything on the actual day. I kept meaning to, but it was a very busy one at work. I was going to email you, but it never happened. Sorry. I will submit myself to any punishment you deem fit. But please, for the love of all that is good and right, not another leg waxing.

Grammy and Pooh - How are you fine ladies doing today. Not sure why we never really chat amongst ourselves. Hope you are having a good week.

All right campers, you may now return to your regularly scheduled activities.

Hay! Them's fightin' words. Maybe. Unless they're true.

Haven't you ever been to Cochran, Hawkinsville, or Adel? and you say MACON is the redneck capital of the world? Methinks you need to travel just a titch further south.

LALA...I love your report.

It makes me want to go back to the beach.
And I hate the ocean. Cause the salt water hurts my eyes.

Andy has never seen the ocean I don't think. At least not from Florida. The only Florida he has really seen has been Disney.

We should go to the beach I think.

My parents used to take me to Panama City every year. When I was little. I know because I have seen pictures. Really hilarious 80's pictures. They are great. If I had a scanner I would share some. I think.

So Lala....I may now be looking into a beach trip.
Thanks.

Thanks to you too Amy. Because you trip started the idea. Lala has not really put it there.

I hate to contradict, but actually, the Redneck Riviera is Gulf Shores, Alabama. We should know. We visit often.

I am SOOOO late for a meeting but my addiction to you compelled me to chime in with a BORG for LaLa and Amy. Yes, true dat about Gulf Shores. Know it well.

I loved loved LaLa's report. I think we should do minitrippies of our summer travels here. I will post about Destin when I get back. Home. I've been to Destin. Now I'm really late for a meeting, but I had to BORG with Lala AND say I thought of at least ten of you I missed in shoutouts and felt so terrible I needed a fanny pack!

MP, DMM, ash, frick-where-is-my-pm, chap, etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :moped:

The group has gotten so large that I will NEVER attempt individual shout outs - but, love to all...

LaLa - Any reference to Club La Vela makes me laugh out loud. Yes maam, this sister took her '88 Dominates Senior Trip to PCB - aka the Redneck Riviera. Car full of girls riding down from GA blasting Van Halen's "Panama" as loud as we could get it. We thought we were ALL THAT. Loved your mini-trippie - especially the pics and summary of what you learned. Too bad you got bumped from the A-list, though. Ain't nuthin' worse than a nasty beach condo.

Horsegirl - Looks like you did a great job of rallying the troops for Mel. I hope her TR will appear here sooner rather than later. Good work, friend.

I'm too behind to even try and comment on anything else.

Hope everyone is doing great... :)

By the way, the NM's just decided to go to the beach this weekend. Hilton Head is the closest, and the Disney resort there looked pretty cool. Anyone been there? I'll check the DVC board, too. Just wanted some M2 thoughts.

Or west...cause I'm guessing he's never been to Crawford County!! But perhaps the best is in Bacon County, which is southeast. And I can say that, because I have relatives there. And they are some of the redneckiest of the redneck.

And the ONLY reason the "big city" is more "sophisticated" than the rest of the state is because no one who lives there is actually from GA. They all have come from other parts of the country. Like Michigan. Which is understandable. I'd rather be in GA than MI, too. Just sayin'.

Also, glad to hear that Gulf Shores is red-neckier than PC. I didn't know a red-neckier place existed. Except Bacon County.

Rhondinator...how DID that copying go yesterday?
I forgot to ask you!!!

Okay, for you and Jami and Rhonda and Amy, I googled "Redneck Riviera", and the first hit was on Wikipedia, which contained the following:

"Redneck Riviera"
The Emerald Coast, particularly Panama City Beach, is known colloquially as the Redneck Riviera, although this term is sometimes applied to a larger region of the coast from Mobile, Alabama to Apalachicola, Florida.

Redneck Riviera is also the title of a song by Tom T. Hall about this region. Lyrics include:

Gulf Shores up through Apalachicola
They got beaches of the whitest sand
Nobody cares if gramma's got a tattoo
Or Bubba's got a hot wing in his hand

So I guess we're all right. Which is a good thing. How often does that happen? :teeth:

This message is for Nicolemarie in response to her question about the DVC property in Hilton Head. It is a lot of fun! We have been twice and had a great time each time. This past March we stayed somewhere else in Hilton Head but rode our bikes over to the Disney property and visited their tiny gift shop. You would have thought we were really in Disney because my kids and I went crazy. It was like I got a big shot of happy just from visiting the place. Anyway, the DVC board probably has lots of info for you, but I just wanted to tell you that it is a great place here.

Wooohooo! Boogie down peeps. :teeth:

OK - I didn't even go past this post, so you know I wasn't cheating.

The Joker - Steve Miller Band circa 1973. I have the 45 in my basement!!!
It has a red label!

However......dear Horseypoo - it wasn't "some people call him Paulie".....it was "Mau.....rice" whaaa-waaa.

I did google this:

"Space cowboy" and "gangster of love" referred to earlier Miller songs. Maurice was from Miller's 1972 tune "Enter Maurice," which appeared on the album Recall the Beginning ... A Journey From Eden. "Enter Maurice" had this lyric: "My dearest darling, come closer to Maurice so I can whisper sweet words of epismetology in your ear and speak to you of the pompitous of love."

Fun facts, for fun people!!!

Oh my - I went back and read....and now I"m posting under myself.

I've finally got some free time! House is clean, (toilets too, Sher - but I only have three) kids still at school......so I'm here.

Random Ramblings On....

Lala: FABULOUS miniTR! {{{{{{{{{CLAP}}}}{{{CLAP}}}}}}} Did you plan the cheerleaders as an extra special treat for Father's Day?? My DH would have loved me to pieces. As long as most were redheads....

GAKitty - you really make me laugh (see#3591), really laugh, no really. Like this guy :lmao: Not this guy :rotfl2: Cause if I was on the floor, it's doubtful that I get back up. Not this one either :rotfl: Too creepy.

Nicolemarie: I've been to Disney Hilton Head. It was great. And we were there in February so being the crazy Canadians that we are, we were the only ones on the beach. DD in the ocean. Me in a sweatshirt. Not sure how old you kids are, but sign them up for as many of the seminars as you can. Mine were 6 and 8 then (I think) and they loved every one. Also do the Dolphin watching. It was fun. I really liked Hilton Head. My expectations were low, and I was pleasantly surprised.

To all the Blogers - Whew more things to read. I have put y'all in my list of favourites. So that's a start!

Pooh - I have a little story to tell you about cleaning ladies. I'll post that in a minute.

Ta-ta

I've finally got some free time! House is clean, (toilets too, Sher - but I only have three) kids still at school......so I'm here.

Yak, baby. I HIGHLY doubt you could be meaning me here.

I DON'T do toilets.

Pooh - my cleaning lady story. All this Suthern talk made me think of this story.

It takes place when we lived in Jawjah. A Canadian in Jawjah.

One of the first things DH did when we moved to GA is join a local private golf club. I'm a golf widow. I accept that. Oh well. Bought house, joined club. Isn't that always the way :confused3 . The Disney AP's came later.

Anyway, this particular membership came with family priviledges. The previous club was a old boys club. Wives could golf on Tuesday morning and Friday night after 8pm or something like that. Whatever.

So DH says, why don't you join the Ladies league and meet some new people. I reluctantly agreed. I golf, but frankly I have better things to do with 5 hours than chase a little white ball around a lawn. Again, whatever.
It might be fun. So I join the Ladies 9 hole league. Georgian's are serious golfers, no 40ish year old woman should be in the 9 hole league. That's for the older gal's! Well, it was and it was fun. Except for the the stories of the current ailments.

So one day I get paired with this sweet little old lady who is telling me that she used to volunteer in WW2. I kid you not! I'm trying to do the mental math and all I can think is she's old and in great shape! Think Jessica Tandy in Driving Miss Daisy. We got talking about me, what I was doing etc. I told her my kids were now in school full time and I had a little time on my hands, hence I decided to try golfing. We were talking about how I liked it in Georgia, etc. etc and the talk went to cleaning ladies. I told Miss Daisy that I recently let our's go, because with the kids in school I can save a little by doing it myself.

Well, the look on Miss Daisy's face was priceless.

She touched my arm, in the best sweet little old Suthern' Georgian lady voice, looked me right in the eye and said,

"Dahlin' let me give you a little piece of ad-veye-ce......"

"Nevher, evher, let the help go"

I could barely contain myself. Big time silent shake!
I could hear the voice of Olivia Dehavilland amongst the trees....Scarlet....

I knew from that moment I was going to really enjoy my time living in the fine State of Georgia!!

Sher - sorry, I mean't Pooh............Pooh/toilets............Sher/green.

Now I got it.

It's the fumes honey......Green paint is really special. And effects the brain.

I think mine went shopping with Amy's!

OMG, NM. You know the really funny thing about what you just typed is that the whole time we were there, I kept hearing Van Halen in my head. And I kept thinking about our all girl trip we took after graduation. Yes maam we were fine. In 89. I bet Frickles and Kim went too. Marky Mark was there. He told me so. Yep, Guess mini skirts, big hair, day glo tans and Obsession perfume. Now that's hot.

Pongo, the really sad thing is that if you posted those pictures of when you were "a little girl" on the beach, you would probably find either me, NM, Marky Mark, Frickles or Kim in the background. On the beach. Acting like unruly teenagers after graduation. And then later Marky Mark would be the guy hanging his head out of the car window and yelling "Wheeeewwwwww Heeeewwww" as the girls all walked by. On his way to start a riot at La Vela. ;)

Horsey, SherSher, Yakkity Yak, Jamal, Master G, Pongo, everybody else...THANKS (((((((((((KISS))))))))))))))

And I agree with Jamal. We should all post mini trippies of our summer vacations. With pictures. But not of mass quantities of cheerleaders. Cause I've had my fill. I'm good.
