Reading Challenge 2022

Oh boy - I've never done a group thing like this before so I'll give it a go! Starting goal 10.

Are there any specific rules or formats? Just plop the review in one of these messages?

Welcome. There are no rules to this at all. Most people do just plop a review of the book as they finish it. Myself, I wait until the end of the month a put a review of every book I read for the month in one post.

I'm still waiting on my copy of this one. I ordered from her local indie bookstore to get a signed copy, and they've been so overwhelmed with orders that they haven't gotten them all out yet!
I grabbed the copy I read off the new books shelf at my library. I knew I would not be able to finish it in the usual 2 week loan but was surprised I was able to renew it so I could finish. They must have ordered a lot of copies, lol.

Glad to have you aboard! No rules, we don't want it feel like an obligation to read/report. Just for enjoyment. I like to keep track of what I have read because I have on occasion started reading a book & thought, mmm this sounds familiar, & turns out I have already read it, lol.
Also love seeing what others have read & liked.

1. Walt's Disneyland: A Walk in the Park with Walt Disney. By Marcy Carriker Smothers, 2021.
If you are a fan of Walt and Disneyland history, GET THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY! Written by the author of Eat Like Walt (one of my favorites), this book is to be savored. Incredibly well researched, well written and organized, and included many photographs that I have not seen. I have a large collection of books on Walt and Disneyland, and yet I learned many new things about both. I highly recommend it!

Happy New Year All!

I'm going to jump in for another year. Didn't meet my goal in 2021 of 50 so I'll drop to a more realistic 40!

Just an FYI, if your local library uses Beanstack for their Summer Reading Software they may also be participating in the Winter Reading Challenge. It's a program they do every Jan/Feb.

My system uses it and we do a book 'Bingo' game with our customers.

There are digital badges and sometimes prizes and drawings so you might want to check out your local branch to see if they are participating.

I LOVE the Beanstack app! My local library system has been using it since summer 2020. They are doing the winter reading challenge also, and they also do other challenges throughout the year. But even without the challenges, I love how easy it is to track time and book read.

2/10 Midnight Promises by Sherryl Woods. Book 8 of the Sweet Magnolia series
This book circles back to a character focused on in an earlier book. The character is not one of my favorites, so it was a bit more challenging to read. What I did enjoy was the further character development of the main character, incorporation of a side character and the struggles with advanced age, and bringing in a new character into the fold who is undergoing her own struggles.

#2/50 Golden Girl by Elin Hilerbrand
This one was reviewed a few times on last years challenge so I grabbed it last week at the library.
Pretty good for a light read. I liked her Paradise series better tho.
"Billy Summers" by Stephen King is up next.

I’ll say 10 because I’m a crafter and spend a lot of time on that. Are audio books okay? I just finished Michelle Obama’s book Becoming and loved it. I also just read Elin Hildebrands book Paradise and am on the wait list for the next in the series. Currently almost finished Jodi Piccoult’s book Change of Heart. It is so familiar though and wonder if I’ve read it before or if it’s similar to another book,

I think audiobooks count! :)

(1/24)
I just finished The Vampire Diaries: The Fury by LJ Smith. It is the third in the series and my least favorite of the three. I'll still read the fourth. I can't leave the series unfinished! 🙃

Welcome! Yes audio books count toward your goal.

Just found this challenge. Sounds interesting so I would love to join. I think 24 books should be possible. I usually stick to my favourite writers so I would be happy to get some inspiration for new ones here. Although I am german I prefer reading books in english 😀 .
At the moment I re-read the James Herriot books. There are seven books from an english vet, James Herriot, who lived in England from about 1914 till 1995 and tells heartwarming stories about everything he experienced in his life. James Harriot was a real person, so it is even more interesting. If you love animals, give it a try.

I read those books last year and I loved them!

Welcome! I will have to add Herriot to my list.
