reading books on your cell phone vs Kindle or Nook

I have a Droid X and a Nook Color. I had the Droid before the Nook. I have read both Nook and Kindle books on my Droid. I have found that you are constantly turning the page while reading on your phone but other then that, not a huge deal. I have an anti-glare screen protector and have found that if you use the night setting for Nook, there is no glare or eye strain. You can set the font size to something that works for you. I prefer using the Nook but it's nice to have the option on my phone for times when you are waiting for appointments, etc.

OP here - I am trying to minimize the number of things I have to carry and would like to bundle it into one device but it does not seem like that will be possible. With the Nook Color it says that you can access Gmail and the web. How easy is it? If I can do that easily enough I might stick with my flip phone and get a Nook and carry it when I need it.

What I really want to do is read books and access Gmail on occasion. I don't want to add more expensive gadgets or more access fees although it seems like everything has access fees.

It would be great if I could bundle it in one item but I don't think that is possible. I don't want to get an Ipad or Iphone as there are a lot of apps that the Apple products cannot access. I do like that the Nook is smaller than the "I" products.

Oh the dilemmas of technology!

It is very easy to access email and browse the web on a nook color - but keep in mind it is Wi Fi only - no 3G. You would have to be near an internet connection to utilize those functions.

It's as easy as using a smartphone to access but you need to have a Wi-Fi connection if you want to do that. It would be more convenient to use a smartphone for emails since they are 3G. I don't take my Nook with me unless I know I am going to be reading for hours (like an overnight trip, etc.). The screen on a Droid X is pretty big for a cell phone and with medium sized text I get 6-8 lines of text on the phone. "Turning" pages is as simple as a touch of the finger so it isn't bad. I read on my phone for about 6 months before I got my actual Nook and had no issues at all. It's just more "book-like" with the Nook.

I have the kindle and the kindle on my ATT Inspire Droid. It is much easier to read on the kindle but the Droid works well also.

I have a Nook and while I do prefer to read books on my Nook I also read them on my Droid X when I am stuck somewhere without my Nook. I haven't had any problems reading on my Droid X.

I have a nook and the nook app on my ipod touch, ipad and htc incredible droid phone(too many gadgets I know) and will often go back and forth between what I read on. Works great and I always have my book with me!

I could not see reading anything of substance on a phone. I have an iPad and love to read books on it, either on the Kindle or iBooks apps.
