I got one on the 24th without any trouble.
I would be too nervous relying on the Skyliner, in case of weather, etc. We will have a car, but I prefer to take the Skyliner back. So I’m thinking that the Uber to speedway sounds like a great option. You can walk to te CBR Skyliner station, you will need to be there by 8:30am to be able to get on and over to DHS, if you wait for the skyliner to start at Riviera it will be 9am.
Uber and walking from that gas station is an option or going by bus to DHS from Riviera is an option
All of them should put you inside the park before 10am, now if you want to get some early ride done then obviously uber or driving on your own would be more controllable
No normal standby line at all. BGs are the only way to ride.Glad I found this thread so I could find out about BGs. I had no idea even with Covid crowds it was still had to get onto ROTR. Is a BG the only way to get on the ride or is there a real line as well. We'll be at DHS on Wednesday, September 23rd (Our 20th Anniversary) and we're so excited. I'll definitely be practicing how to get a BG from now until then.![]()
Boarding groups are filling within seconds. Each group travels alone so it will just you and your travel partner.Hey - Just... looking for some random feedback here.
I went to Disney last December, about a week after Rise opened. Think I rode it 3 times on that trip, for the 3 days I spent at Disney. I am an experienced Disney traveler. Very park savvy, fairly tech savvy, got up early, understood the boarding group process, got into the park before rope drop, was ready and waiting at drop time. Didn't ever have a problem getting a group first thing in the morning.
Went back in February for just 1 day. Same basic story. Didn't have any issues getting a group.
SO NOW... I'm going back later this month. 2 of my 7 already booked Disney Days will be at Hollywood Studios. This will be my first visit since the onset of the pandemic, and my first visit since they switched over to multiple drop times for boarding groups, and I just want to ask people who have more recent experience - So long as I'm on the ball - Would you anticipate I should have any problems getting a group?
Does the process "feel" about the same as it did back around the time the ride opened? Do groups fill up faster after the pandemic? Slower?
I've been on it 4-5 times already, so if I didn't get to ride I'd be bummed, but I'd live. BUT I'm traveling with someone who will be seeing Galaxy's Edge for the first time, and I'd very much like to do all I can to make sure he doesn't miss it. Time was I'd be less worried about this because prior to the pandemic, 7 days at Disney meant I had 7 chances to attempt boarding, and if I failed, oh well, I could always park hop elsewhere and try again tomorrow. But being limited to only 2 HS days and 2 attempts makes me feel a bit edgier about things. Meh.
If you're prepared there's no reason not to get one. With the boarding groups filling up so fast, do you think there’s still a good change to get a BG? We are headed there on 9/18 and a little worried.
The app now selects everyone in your mde party that is in the park so no need to modify that, it's basically just clicking join 2 timesObtaining a BG was far easier in January during normal operation and capacity. Now that capacity is a fraction, BGs are gone in mere seconds. Then, modifying a ride party still allowed for obtaining a BG (though 40+ was the best we did). Today, if you have to modify your ride party or if you don't get the process right...forget about it.
On Verizon cellular, between 2 people and the other 3 on Disney Wi-Fi, got BG 4 by joining right at 10am and selecting default party (all of whom where in park). Ecstatic but man this is a stressful and unforgiving process. P.A. announcement at 30 seconds after 7 indicated all BGs were gone for the first queue.
Read post 1 and 2 and then the last couple of pagesI am nervous that I will miss a step and lose out. With the smaller crowds does everyone get a group? The park opens at 10 , they give out numbers at 10, how does that work? Don't we have to be in GE to join the virtual queu?
Also, I watched a you tuber in HS over the weekend. He said they have other times during the day that they give out boarding groups. He said we have to ask a CM for the times. Is this in addition to the 10a and 2p times? Or is there a chance I will get there and the time will be different?
Because of not being able to park hop, we have one shot at getting a BG. I don’t want to leave anything to chance. Disney transportation is too unreliable in this case. Any other park, 100% agree with you.Seems like some of you are over-thinking it if you're staying on property. Just get to your bus stop early at your resort, you'll be there well before 10:00. Other than labor day weekend crowds are very small, you'll have all day to ride everything multiple times if you want. Taking Ubers to gas stations and walking? It can be done, but really unnecessary imho.
