No need to lug your iPad Pro around just to grab a BG unless you just want a big screenshot of your BG number..:rotfl2:

The key factor is practice, practice, practice. Quick fingers hitting familiar buttons is next and a reasonably solid connection could be either Wi-Fi or Cellular data. Just find a spot to stand still for the 30 seconds to get set for the clock to roll over to 10 AM and once you grab your BG in 10 seconds you are free to move about the park...

Thank you!

Well....today is the day. I'm pretty nervous.

I did practice at home, and was mostly successful, but hadn't gotten a chance to practice recently, due to work schedule.

My phone connection has me slightly worried. When on data, even at the best of times, I am typically getting 2 bars. Speed-wise, I've never noticed an issue on LTE, but I've also not been in a theme park trying to refresh to get a ride before, so....my LTE is untested.

Any tips on the best spots to get away from other people?

Planning a trip in 2 weeks. Has the boarding passes changed since Covid? I have tried to read through all these threads and it's rather confusing. I just wanted to know do you still get your boarding pass right when park opens from MDE?

Post #1 and #2 have key infos pre and post COVID, But to answer your question. Now there is 2 BG drops... One at 10am and one at 2pm. But since the shortened hours I haven't seen a report about how fast the 2pm one goes.

Our experience yesterday... we’re staying at BCV, walked and arrived at DHS at 9:15. Walked straight to MMRR, line slowly moved and we stepped onto ride at 9:50. We were testing LTE service while in line and our internet was working so we felt good about being able to access BGs if still on MMRR. Ride ended at 9:58 and we scurried outside exit door and proceeded to get BG10. We then rode TSM and walked to ROR. The ride broke down for 60 min when we were almost on ride (in the last queue room) but it was well worth the wait.

I have a Verizon phone and had full bars right outside the entrance to Sci-Fi. I wanted to "get away" from large groups of people and started walking towards ABC Commissary and my bars went down the further I got from Sci-Fi. So I went back and stayed there because I had full bars. Got the BG without issues as well (2pm try).

BG9 secured ON Slinky Dog. I’m shaking XD

Having a great morning and these tips really paid off. We walked over from YC around 8:30, were the first in line for temp check and security, got on MMRR right at 9:30 on the first train (so cute!) then headed over to slinky and boarded our car at 9:56. Now riding Saucers while we wait for our BG to be called :)

Reports are that 2pm boarding groups are also often gone in less than 1 minute if not less than 30 seconds.

There’s a sidewalk that goes from Speedway to the lake, then down to Hollywood Studios. Use walking directions on your phone or computer and drop pins to where you want to walk from and to. @crazy_for_the_dis @Eldritch

Is it pretty straightforward getting to the lake, and then walking to HS? Are there signs and/or a sidewalk at the lake directing you to HS?

Do you have to have magic bands to show you are in the park, or will the cards work? Since no FP right now, didn't really want to bring my kids bands, but I will do it if it gives any ROTR BG advantage. Was at HS 3 days in February and did not get a ROTR BG any day, despite doing my homework and arriving waaaay early!! This thread is very helpful.

What your party uses to tap into the park doesn’t matter and has no effect on getting a bg. Magicbands aren’t actively tracked anyways. In fact, you don’t have to be in the park to get a bg, you just have to have entered the park that day. It’s a good idea to be there in case part of your group doesn’t show up when you get a bg- in that case you’d need to go to a cm to have the missing people added.

Here's a hopeful question, which I probably know the answer to. We're going next week, which before covid was one of the best weeks all year to go. Is it possible that there would be an opportunity to walk on later in the day to ride a second time?

I would say this would be incredibly unlikely.

Short answer no. As fas as I know they have never opened the stand by queue to the general public. And the ride has so much down time that usually they're calling BG right up until the end of the day.
