I would think the glitchiness of today and yesterday might have something to do with the very cold weather. Milder temps are on the way, so here’s hoping they bring more consistency
That would definitely affect the outdoor rides, such as SDD, but RoTR is indoors. When we visited in Jan 2014, we had to wait until temperatures were above a certain threshold (can’t remember the temp high 40s maybe) before Expedition Everest could run.

I love this thread! Read it every morning with my coffee :coffee: !! A great big thanks to all the people posting their experiences, to the mods for keeping it spoiler free and (somewhat!) on topic, and a super big shout out to SouthLafayetteFan for the awesome chart and hilarious commentary.

Our trip is right when MMRR opens (March 4-8) and I can't decide if that's going to help things or not :P. Our HS days are 3/5 and 3/8 so we will only get one day to monitor how things work before it's our turn :scared:. I'm hoping that the opening of another new ride will move opening hours back earlier and MAYBE see a return of the rides up and running when they let people start tapping in (a girl can hope right??) Of course the big unknown is how is MMRR gonna work...VQ, standby, some new fangled method.....

To be sure I'll be reading this thread in the hopes that we are as prepared as we can be and that Force is with us!

I'll preface by saying I haven't ridden RotR so have not idea if some of the ride is outside. (Not asking for this information as I know that this is a no spoiler thread.)

Only saying this because the temps FL has been enduring these past few days really should not affect an indoor ride. Rides that are built inside are built in buildings that are climate controlled. I'd be really surprised if the challenges RotR is facing are weather related. While these temps are low for FL, they are not unheard of so I would think the RotR structure would have been built with these temps in consideration as well as the melt-your-face-off hot temps of the summer.

Only saying this as a Canadian who rarely faces challenges to structures until temperatures reach numbers much, much lower than what FL has had this week.
I would hope something like this isn’t the case, but there used to be a roller coaster at Cedar Point that was completely indoors, and they would close it in the rain due to leaks and moisture that would form on the track. So weather *could* play a part.

You

You're cutting it close. Line to pay parking. A couple of long red lights. Wrong slow security line or tapstyle. I'd be on the road by 6a

Thanks, I will bump my departure to 6:00. Worst case is that we fly through and have to wait longer inside the park but better than frantically trying to make it in time.

For me it's the security lines that freak me out! I always seem to choose the line that is moving the slowest when there is somewhere I want to go quickly.

Got on and through some of the experience before being evacuated. Super bummed. We have a return fast pass, but I also have an any ride FastPass from slinky dog. I’m hoping those don’t get mixed up.

Need a bit more help cause I am still confused on something. I have read many posts here and many out side articles on boarding groups.

I know you use the MDE app on your phone and I know you must be physically through the turnstiles with your whole group having scanned in for admission.

I don't understand what it means when I keep seeing the words that a person must be "logged into the system" to join a boarding group. Is there something extra that has to be done? Do you need to be on their WiFi to be considered in the correct area? Trying to figure out if I am missing something.

Lastly after seeing the CHART on the opening posts of this thread it is both helpful and freaking terrifying! The last couple days recorded have run out of boarding groups after just 1 minute. Is there a secret to using the app super fast when they open boarding groups? I know if I am not there early for RD and boarding groups that is on me, but I am most concerned I will do all that and still not act fast enough for a boarding group. (I also go to HS after MMRR opens on 3/4 so who know what will change then anyways.) Advice is appreciated.

"Logged in" just refers to the My Disney Experience app (MDE or MDX for short). You must be logged in in order to obtain a boarding group.

Another update for those curious about ROTR status -

We boarded the ride for the second time. We made it a little further this time, but something cropped up again that caused them to shut off the ride. On the way out, I overheard someone complaining to a CM that it was the third time they were forced to get off. Time to go back to the resort and try again later.

Still partial to the "Rumors of Light" thread that we had going when the show was delayed, and delayed, and delayed. So much fun was had, torching them on their own Blog...

Those were the days! But, I'm loving life right now with ROTR and @SouthFayetteFan 's glorious contributions to The CHART!!!! (Oh my goodess - NEW idea for tonight!!! The ROTR board proudly presents... your chart! a la Lumiere from BaTB)
