We got in the line around 7:28a and the ride had not opened yet (line was already super long); ride opened at 8a so we started moving pretty quickly in line. We were inside the theater in line around 8:53a and to the pre-show of the ride by 9:05am. All in all, not too bad. If you have an early BG for RotR with an hour return time, may not be able to do standby for MMRR

Thank you.

If you didn’t enter the park until 7:15 and didn’t get to the line until almost 7:30, that isn’t an outrageous wait, especially considering that the posted wait time at park opening has been around two hours. Maybe that’s how long someone who first joined the line at 8 would wait, but even that might be inflated.

As for the one hour ROTR return time, has there been any indication that that is real or enforced? Today I looked at about 10 AM and the app showed now boarding groups 2-31. So, the very first group called had at least the better part of 2 hours to return, and if they were up to calling BG 31 there must not have been any significant downtime.

Are folks able to bring bags into the park and still get a bg? I know it can take longer to get through Security with a bag.

We had a bag last week, and we got in for a BG attempt (we got lucky: BG 3!). You should allow for a little extra time, but in our experience, once they start letting people into the park at 7, all of the lines at the gate become manageable (we arrived around 7:20, and we had no trouble). I’d be there by 7:30, though, to be sure. And keep in mind that this would be a late arrival for any rope drop at SDD, MFSR or MMRR.

The rule is, it’s being enforced (but who knows if it actually is. CM told me and others in front of me it is being enforced). I talked to guest experience about my glitch trying to get a BG and she said they are enforcing 1 hr return time to get as many people on the ride as possible. What happened to me happened to several other people in front of me at the guest service umbrella so it seems the glitch is a real issue today. They wrote down my magic band #, phone type and whether I was on WiFi to track the issue

Is there an area in HS where the GET lineup may be shorter than other GET lines? Is there an area to avoid?

I am late with my write up from our experience. We had three BG days planned. Sunday, Feb 23 to Tuesday, Feb 25.

I am the one who ran out and replaced my DD's and my iPhone 6 with iPhone 11 a week before our trip. Best decision ever! I also after a week of practice decided that we were going to need to include my DH (iPhone 6S) in on the plan. More about that later.
Both DD and I had both the MDE and the clock app on the phone next to each other
We stayed at Boardwalk Inn. So no issues getting to the park.

Prep day before: Me to DH. Ok so let's get the app on your phone. No I don't know your password. It's probably saved on your phone. Please hand phone to your DD she can find it for you. (That's not going to happen.) He finally finds it. And supposedly practices. I should have asked for screen shots as proof since DD and I were at AK at 8 am.

Day 1 - Through security by 7:15. I can't remember when they let us into the park.
We headed for the Rock n Roll. 7:50 OK - everyone turn off wifi, bluetooth and hard close all apps.
DH - Wait I can't get the app to open. ok. So now it's not taking my password.
Me: Just get out. Delete app. Reload app.( The minutes are ticking by. Finally at 7:58 I ask him to please stop talking (I love him but I needed total silence).
As soon as the second hand passed the 11 on the clock I opened the MDE. First try BG 8. OMG we are so excited. We did a very quiet happy dance. DH is still trying to get the app to work.
Did the coaster then straight to SWGE off the ride by 9 am. Very happy.

Day 2:
Same park entry. This time we lined up for TOT.
DH is still having MDE issues. Basically had them the entire trip.
7:50 - we get phones sorted and ready to go. Again as soon as second hand passes the 11 open MDE.
This time I glitch. I am backing out (and having a mild freak out) and my DD shows we her phone BG 10. Wow. Did TOT, BG called on and off the ride before 9 am. Again very happy family.

Day 3 - We decided to call it. We closed out SWGE the night before with an 8:30 Oga ADR.. Lots of nighttime lightsaber pics. Still a very happy family. We took a nice calm walk to the parks. Used our FPs for TOT, then MFSR, and then played in SWGE until it was time to head out.

Lessons Learned: Practice, clean up your friends and family list. My DD still had her aunt in her list and ran into problems with that the first day. I had totally forgotten she was on there. I basically disowned my entire family prior to our trip. (Sorry family.) Stay calm. Breath. Have as many people as possible in your party trying for a BG. With my Day 2 glitch I probably would not have gotten one. If you are in a position to upgrade phone do so, this was the best pre vacation purchase I have ever made.

This thread is one of the best and most helpful vacation planning threads I have ever been apart of. Thank you to everyone on here. We could not have done it without you.

Is all this worth it? Yes. Hagrids is my new favorite ride but SWGE is my new favorite everything else. We are already planning our next trip back for 2021 (and honestly if the opportunity presents itself I would go back earlier). oh and read Black Spire before your trip. DH and I both read it and by the end of the trip DD was regretting being a teenager and ignoring my requests to read the book. She has vowed to read it before next trip.

Decided to go back to HS this morning. Got there at 7:15. Did rope drop at RRC. While in line I grabbed group 8!!! But... I was the only one who showed up. Got off ride and went to GET. They put my husband and daughter in my group. And we proceeded to walk on ROR. Success 2 days in a row!!!

Does anyone have it not show the MDE account owner but everyone else? I often see my 3 family members but not me?!?! In the park I would keep going and head to GET but surprised to see this a few days a week while practicing from home.

It has happened to me at least once.

Quick report and observations from this morning:
this was a very late day decision yesterday to go today so no fp booked in advance
Arrived via car around 6:55am, no traffic at toll plaza, no wait for bag check. The park opened right at 7am, inside the park at 7:10am
main goal was to live stream the rope drop crowds for each of the areas of the park, started on Sunset at 7:15am where they had 2 lines already set up, left for RnRC and right for ToT, maybe 100 people at RnRC and like 30 at the ToT line
moved to MMRR where the line snaked everywhere around centerstage, the wait time was approx 2.5 hours, very organized as well
TSLand queue started by Woody's big statue, everyone going into the land had to be in this line, then they would each go their separate way once the land opened
SGWE crowds (no line formation here) where from the entrance tunnel to Baseline Taphouse, my DD who has opened the land and walked people inside told me the crowds didn't look bad at all and that that amount of crowds was probably an hour wait if you were at the very back, this was around 7:40am
I can say all the lines and crowds were very well managed and control so no fear of running or massive cutting
Walked back toward Min and Bill this time using my DD iphone 6 MetroPCS data (cause I was streaming with my Samsung) she turned off bluetooth, turned off battery saver, closed all apps and gave me the phone so I could show on stream how to grab a bg.
opened app at 7:59 and as soon as the clock turned to 8am I hit "find out more" red join bg button was still grey, so I went back and forward again, red button still not active so hit my status and joined through there, got bg 31. Maybe it's an iphone thing but I have always had the red join bg button active at 8am
Anyways went and met Vader, Chewie and BB8 out of launch Bay by 8:20, tried the green milk bread pudding from Milk Stand (delicious btw) and then went to meet Minnie and Mickey out by 9:15am, that m&g opened at 9am. Our bg was called around 10ish (i forget) but had a 25 min wait in the queue and rode with no issues, lunch at Sci Fi at 11am, back home at 12:30pm.

Is it possible to see a recorded version of your livestream? If so, where?

I definitely think this is older iPhone behavior. It's typically how it works for me. I have better luck clicking My Status (iPhone SE).

Yes. I posted having this happen to me the past two days while practicing from home.

My wife was already asking for an iPhone 11 Max. I was using an iPhone 7, so I got her the new phone and transferred my stuff to her old iPhone X. I noticed a significant improvement in speed of loading the app, etc. in my practicing.

I've already showed her how to secure a BG so she can be trying as well. Thinking about maybe swtiching phones with her that morning, since hers may be a little bit faster but I'm faster overall at the process.
