My plan was, and still is, to try for RotR on 2 separate days of our trip, especially since the official DHS day is the last day. I had planned on heading over from the Boardwalk in the morning and deciding to stay there or head to Epcot based on BG number. The plan was already to end the night at DHS regardless, with a ToT FP. The change to 1 hour could potentially put a snag in that plan, but honestly, I think park hopping to Epcot is still feasible, depending on where and what you're doing at Epcot. My plans are just to eat/drink around the showcase, so we should have plenty of time to walk back...as long as I keep an eye on the app and don't drink too much 🤣

And thank you to everyone here for all your hard work and data collecting! The charts are freaking amazing!

So your callback didn't overlap that FP at all, then?

See, now THAT would make some sense, a longer callback if the system sees an overlapping FP window.
LOL, I think you are giving Disney IT *way* too much credit on what they are able to do. The BG system is completely separate from the ADR and the FP system, which is why it will allow you a BG even if you have FPs in a different park. I mean, they don't even know if you get BG 42 or whatever, at what time you will be riding. They just know your BG is after BG 41.

I wonder if they're giving 1 hour windows to the first several BGs to help reduce some of the lines at like Slinky Dog and other places? I mean the line has been extending past the land entrance at times.
That would make sense to me. The planner in me wants to know how this will all play out, not only for ADRs in other parks, but FPs at DHS and trying for FPs at other parks, and decisions about going back to the resort to rest. It would make a lot of sense to limit the first BGs to 1-hour and the ones called after a certain point in the day (5pm?) to 1-hour. Really looking forward to hearing everyone's return time windows throughout the entire day today.

1 hour makes a lot of sense for early boarding groups. We had the first called group a few days ago and it took 10 minutes to get to the ride entrance. Even with that amount of time, there was a grand total of 15 people in the whole queue. Our ride vehicle was not completely filled. Can potentially encourage people to go ride earlier with the first set of groups beyond the obvious help at end of day backups.

Great thread. I appreciate the need for the 7am openings to get through more BGs, but doesn’t this increase the incentive for people to rope drop DHS, get a BG, and then head to another park for rope drop there? Do we think people are doing this in significance numbers?

It is insanely busy here today.

It is insanely busy here today.
Based on wait times I think yesterday may have been busier. It was crowded yesterday in general. I tried to hop over to the Epcot right before my boarding group got called and the security lines at IG were at least 20 people deep. AK was also super crowded, almost a 3 hour wait for Everest around 5pm and Safari was 2 hours.

God I am glad we returned home Friday night. Friday am at Animal kingdom was not bad at all.

This whole process is so crazy making. I have to rush to get an early bus. I have to hope I'm not too far back in line and don't get held up at the turn styles because something isn't working right or someone in the bag line has lots of stuff. Then....I have to log onto the site as quickly as I can and hope I can get on, and there are no glitches with my app, then....hopefully I can secure a boarding pass. After all this, I have to hope the ride doesn't break down, and hopefully I can ride that day. My heart is racing just thinking about it!
