Somebody explain the whole process in very small Easy to understand terms? I don’t expect to actually get there early enough to get whatever a Boarding Group thing is but just in case??
Thank you and I promise never to ask again 😁

First post has the explanation. Also search on YouTube for videos

Maybe it’s an explanation for you but I don’t see what I would actually have to do, just that it’s like how one used to get into the land (never been so I don’t know). Clicking on the link gave me useless information about how to spend my wait time. I’m old, semi-senile and social media challenged. Someone take pity on me. ROTR FOR DUMMIES???

Information in the first post:

“At scheduled park opening time the boarding groups will appear open on My Disney Experience.

This is when you join boarding group and then add those in your party.

Then you will be given a boarding group number. This is your group and when it is called you will have two hours to return.

The app can be glitchy and Disney has guest experience cast members throughout DHS to assist you in getting a group.”

About as simple as it can get:
Enter park before official opening time.
Open app at official park opening.
Click the red button to get boarding group. Don’t delay on this step. Spots will go fast.

Click on page 1 of this very long thread. Lots of good info and a video😊😊 If you still have questions ask again.
But I’ll add a little info first:
To get a Boarding group everyone that wants to ride has to be scanned into the park.
Bg’s are given out on the Disney app.
Bg’s are available at the official park opening time. **They have been changing the park opening to earlier times so be sure to check opening times prior to your trip.
Now that the Christmas/New Year holidays are over it hasn’t been as busy but regular BG’s are booked within 10-20 minutes after park opening.
But😊 backup groups are available until around 9am.
Backup groups have been called the last few days starting around 4pm

Where in that glitchy unreliable app might I find this? And if the app isn’t working which, in my limited techno-challenged experience is most of the time, I am [out of luck]?

If you can't use the app you can locate a cast member with an ipad, they can help you get into a boarding group.

O

it's on the first page when you open the app. Make sure your app is up to date

Thank you all. I’m guessing it will all be a moot point anyway.

I don't know if they are still doing this but on 1/1 when we were there, at 6:10 or so before gates opened at 6:30 CM's were going up and down the outside wait line looking for people with print off tickets and converting the paper tickets to plastic. They were warning people about not having paper print out tickets when the line started moving.

Thanks for your help everyone! We followed advice. Waited with the group headed toward MFSR. Had 4 phones logged into the same MDE account. Mine never went red. My dd on verizon data got BG 19. My FYI of the day is that we'd hoped to do MFSR, and despite being there when we were and generally in the same holding spot as others, by the time we were actually in line CM said it was a 2 hour wait and we knew BG was about to be called, and it was too close for comfort for us so we bailed, which impacted the overall touring plan of the day, but in the end it worked out. Just would have taken a different path if I'd thought we'd have that long of a wait at opening.

I kinda said this earlier but I feel like the best bet if you get called in the last 30 minutes of BGs for that day is to wait until the end of your 2 hour window.
I read your warning which is why we didn't hurry over there. But I never expected the line to look the way it did back when we were there for opening day in December. I've been following this thread since the beginning and I can't remember anyone reporting such a long line in the last two hours of the day.
We walked by that line. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The MFSR line was about an hour though since everyone in the land was in line for ROTR. Good luck getting on another day. How disappointing that just have been,
I'm glad that someone else saw that line, too. It was very disappointing. But we will get back there again later.

You can practice at home - even check it out right now if you want

Just open up the My Disney Experience App and you will see right on front page info about Rise of the Resistance boarding groups. Click on Find Out More

From this screen, when they are open, you can click on Join Boarding Group and see how the process goes (won't be able to fully do it as you aren't in Hollywood Studios)

It might seem confusing or intimidating but if you trying out from home one morning you will see how straight forward it really is.

We are trying for a BG next Wednesday. All three of us have an MDE account and share plans. Should we all log into one account that morning, or is it fine to try from our own accounts? We aren’t planning on Getting in line for anything that morning; is there a good place to hang out and wait for park open that won’t be jam backed with people heading to GE or TSL?
