Here's the jist of the article

1. Download the official Disneyland mobile app

First things first. The Disneyland app* allows you to navigate that land and even utilize the mobile ordering feature at select dining locations when you are in the land. Be sure to download before you go!

2. Plan around your attraction experience

Starting Jan. 17 as needed, a virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance may be implemented to help deliver the best possible guest experience, allowing guests to explore other areas of the park while waiting for their turn to ride. The Disneyland app will have a dedicated module, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group, available from the main page. Here’s how it will work:

  • Request to join a boarding group to ride the attraction, once you have entered Disneyland park. The virtual queue will not be available until published park opening hours.
  • Boarding groups will be sent a push notification when it is their turn to enter the attraction queue and you can monitor status of boarding groups from the app.
  • There also will be the ability to join a boarding group from select locations inside Disneyland park, if you are not using the app. The boarding group is tied to admission that will be scanned upon entry of the attraction.
  • Signage throughout the park will also display boarding group status.
  • Admission into Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be subject to capacity, and having an assigned boarding group will not guarantee entrance to the attraction.

If I have no bag, just phone, wallet, and keys, can I go through the "no bag" line? If the bag line is shorter, can I go there without an actual bag?

for @SouthFayetteFan
Official numbers from the HUB
Park opened at 6:22am
BG gone at 7:07am
Backup BG gone at 9:13am with 106 being first
fingerscan to enter park as of yesterday
Delayed opening of the attraction 8:20am
First BG called was 15

Just curious...what is the HUB? Been wondering every time I see it 😀 Btw...thank you for all you and the other moderators do on here! Been reading every day since the board started. Feeling prepared for our trip at the end of the month 🤞🏻

To those of you that have had BG called in the last two hours of the park being open, is the line shorter if you wait to go until closer to closing time? Or is the line about the same the entire time during those last two hours that the park is open?

Just trying to plan ahead in case we get a late BG. :)

We will be joining the many of you on here that will be there during the last week of Jan!

Thanks to everyone providing info!! I'm feeling pretty confident about what to expect and hope that Disney doesn't decide to change something while we are there!

Yes. The no bag line means that you have no bag. You can have stuff in your pockets, a water bottle, etc.

Seems pretty darn similar to what is going on now at DHS - only thing I notice is it doesn't mention any concept of "Back-up" BGs, just that "having an assigned boarding group will not guarantee entrance to the attraction" - so almost like all BGs there are Back-up BGs

Should be, but the more conservative answer is: no one knows. Some days the no-bag lines have been longer than the bag lines. Also, there were super busy days over the weekend after New Year's when the BGs were gone after 1 or 2 minutes. Let's hope that doesn't happen again. Also, keep an eye out for change in park hours.
An hour to get through the no-bag line and tapstyles is a whole lot of time. To secure a boarding group when it opens at 7, you “just” need to tap into the park 1-2 minutes before park open.
Now,,, if you want to rope drop SDD or MFSR after getting a BG, 6am is on the late side.
For just a BG, then a plan for 6:30 arrival has some wiggle-room.

(I wouldn’t recommend unloading from a bus at 6:55am, but I did make it from the bus through the no bag line and tapped in at 6:58 on Monday and got a boarding group at the same time as guests that arrived much earlier)

the not guaranteed wording is the same as "regular" bg here. I think they will end up doing backup bg there as well. But as with anything at Disney, nothing is guaranteed

the line is longer at the end of the day just because when the ride goes down you are told to come back anytime through out the day. In the morning you can zoom through and go straight on the ride and be out in 20 minutes (if it's performing properly) in the evening people have reported 1 to 1.5 hours from start to finish

We will be at DHS in 3 weeks and plan on getting an Uber to DHS from AKL. We don't want to take chances.

Out of curiosity - where do the Uber/Lift people get dropped off? Never took one to the parks before.

FWIW I just returned from AKL and got on a bus at 5:45 am.

Got the recovery FP and currently awaiting the second half of the ride. Question can I file a complaint about the conversation in another park? I got my FP but I’m not happy with how they handled it but I really don’t want to talk to the front of park GR again

When the bag lines were shorter, someone posted security made them stand on the longer no-bag line because they were bagless. My advice, crumple a plastic grocery bag in your pocket so if this happens you can put your phone inside and join the shorter bag line 🤷‍♀️

If that afternoon it looked like my BG would be called as part of that last 2 hour mega-grouping, then I'd prepare to get over there and ready around 6pm (or 7p for 9p closing).
You never know what can go wrong, I'd rather be in the front than at the back even if that meant a longer wait.

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com if you don't want to talk with GR in person

Thanks! I guess we will just have to see how things go. Right now DHS opens 8am for our day (1/31). I'm wondering with opening an hour later if there will be bigger crowds.
