I was just curious which you all thought was better, Ho Jo's or the Tropicanna? I am curious to hear your opinions please. I know Tropicanna is right across from the main entrance, how far of a walk is Ho Jo's. Thank you for all the help and advice.:)

I personally an a big fan of Tropicana! The location is great, they have a free continental breakfast(not the greatedt but not too bad eiether) and they have a convient store on the property. I've always had a positive experience here.

I've never stayed at the hojo but heard the property is really nice and they have a wonderful pool area for the kids. No free breakfast and it is a bit further to walk than the Tropicana. I preferrto be closer to the park:)

Well, my vote would be for Tropicana. We just stayed there last week for 4 days. Even though you spend all day walking around Disneyland, at the end of the day every extra step seems like a mile.

That being said, Tropicana is nothing special....but it is a clean place to sleep. The pool was very cold for October, wish they would heat it. For being in the middle of a parking lot, the pool area is nice thoug.

HoJo is farther away...maybe about a city block? Not much when you compare it to the amount of walking done at DL, but still tiring at the end of the day...especially if you have a tired child with you, as we did.

Whichever you decide, have a great trip!

I would say HOJO as I was not impressed with Tropicana on our trip in May. I will say it is close which is a plus but the two rooms we had reminded me of a cramped Motel 6 (very cramped in our room for our party of three). The breakfast was not good whatsoever except for the apples. Stale donuts and watered down juices- we didn't even use it the rest of our trip it was that bad.
I like to think I am not a hotel snob but my dad who is way cheap stayed in the room next to us and had the same feelings about the hotel as I did. And he likes a good bargain...

The Tropicana does have a good following on this board and that is why we tried it. I will try HOJO or BWPPI next time we decide to stay off site.

HoJos is almost exactly half a mile walking distance to Security Checkin.....

Tropicanna was good in 2004, but like others have said rooms are a little small and breakfast was not great. Last year we stayed at Carousel Inn and that was a better stay, also interested to try BWPPI or Camelot. Park Vue Inn gets very mixed reviews but worth getting a quote for.

I also just wanted to say, feel free to add any other good neighbor hotel that you thought was great and the reasons, I will consider, just thought of these two off the top of my head. I would appreciate any feedback. Reasonable prices though.:)

The Tropicana gets my vote. I have stayed at: BWPPI, Tropciana, Hojo and Camelot for my offsite trips. The Tropican room seemed more updated than the others, the bathroom was nice and new. Also the proximity beat out the Hojo as did having a free breakfast. I do agree the free breakfast is nothing great but its free and it was enough to get our day going and save us a few dollars on our food budget. The parking was much better here than at the BWPPI, and they let you take breakfast items back to the room, which BWPPI did not. And it had less of a parking lot feel than the Camelot did. The Hojo is very nice, our room was more spacious than the Tropicana one. However, when I stay offsite its all about location. So even though the walk is not that bad, to me it was just a bummer to pass by other motels that were closer. Because other than the pretty grounds, to me the Hojo is a just a motel too. So I might as well stay closer is my theory!

Good luck, you cannot go wrong with either. And the Hojo does have a baby pool and kiddie spray jets so if you have little kids that would be a huge factor.

Based on all the popular reviews here on the Dis boards, I would LOVE to give Tropicana a try (CCI as well). . . that is if I ever can't get the incredible Entertainment Rate at the HoJo. That's what keeps me a loyal return guest at my favorite Anaheim hotel. :goodvibes

IMO none of the hotels over on harbor are worth significantly more than any of the others. I will leave the definition of exactly how much is significant to the reader. If they're all the same price, I'd take the BWPPI, Tropicana, or Carousel.

Ditto.:thumbsup2

Tropicana, we stayed there in June and loved it. We like it so much we'll be back next June.

Our room wasn't small, it was the size of most motel rooms. But there is just 3 of us, and maybe they have smaller rooms then others I don't know. We thought the breakfast was okay. Nothing to write home about, but nothing was stale during our stay. To me it's better then nothing! Our room was always clean, and we really enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

But most importantly was location! Loved how close it was. Hojo's just seemed too far once I got spoiled with the Tropicana's location! LOL Although I wouldn't mind staying there once too, looks like they've got a really nice pool area! I actually tried to get the Entertainment rate before booking the Tropicana earlier this year, but it wasn't available. They didn't give me a good enough discount to make the walk!

Hojo's all the way...and for the last five years. The walk is not bad at all, and it kills me when people say it is terrible. My son has never had a problem with it at the end of a busy Disneyland day. And the extra little bit is worth it. The hotel is great. Period. We never feel crowded there, and the staff is great. The grounds are beautiful and spread out and their Gift Shop is fantastic. This is our hotel of choice.

Tropicana! I love the location haven't stayed there but I was just not impressed with HOJO. I don't get the love its so far away and after a long day in the park walking that far is killer and it just isn't all that impressive hotel wise.

Tropicana for us too...
We have stayed there the last 2 times and loved it. Our room was clean and nice sized, pool area was very nice and includes a huge hot tub. Location was perfect and the staff was very nice. Not a question where we will stay next time.
