How difficult is it to get to be the Flag Family once during our trip? We're going the third week in June. And is it done once per day, in the morning, or twice, so you could get morning to raise the flags or evening to lower them? And does anyone know the approximate time? DH is afraid that it's at 5:00am or something real early like that.

It depends on how busy it is. I would ask about openings when you are checking in at the front desk. It has become more well known so more people want to be flag family. It is in the mornings around 7am. I'm not sure if they still do an evening flag lowering or not. When I was at WL in March, it was all booked up for the week I was there. I did get to be FF in '99 so I know it is worth the effort to get up early for:) Good Luck!

We stayed there about 4 years ago in mid-June. While our bellhop was taking our luggage to our room, I asked him about Flag Family and he said they were no longer doing it BUT DH went to Guest Services and they said no problem and gave us our choice of days!!! It was only mornings then. We had to meet in the lobby at 7am. It was well worth it!!!!!

I have often wondered if this little known wonderful secret has gotton out to too many people and if it is harder to get now.

Good luck!

We were fortunate enough to be the Flag Family on our last WDW trip. We are DVC members and were spending our 2nd WDW week at the WLV after a weekend at Vero Beach. Before heading to Vero we dropped off some luggage at the WL so we wouldn't have to drag it with us for the weekend. When we did that I stopped by Guest Services and asked about being the FF. I had my choice of 2 days the following week. When we checked in at the WL on Sunday and I stopped by Guest Services again to give them our room number I saw that the FF sheet was full for our entire stay. Needless to say I was glad I had asked when I did. Oh, and this visit was just 2 weeks after 9/11 when things were still slow.

I guess my point in relating this story is to tell you that yes, the FF program is very popular. Make sure you stop by as soon as you get to the WL. I think your length of stay will also be a big factor.

Oh, and to answer your other questions...the program is done just once each day, in the morning. When we did it in September we had instructions to be at Guest Services by 8:15am but I've heard that the time varies.

Good luck! It is a lot of fun!

When we did it in Feb. we met at 8:15. When we checked in, there were only 2 dates available. I agree - it's gotten very popular!
