RCI - How Many Points Needed?

So DH and I are debating cancelling our Nov trip. While we'd feel safe enough going, we're not confident in taking our (will be then) 19 mo old since she can't wear a mask and still puts everything in her mouth. But I digress....

If we cancel before our banking deadline, all my 2019 points will go back to my account for banking, but I have 68 2018 UY points that will have to be dumped into RCI. My question is - is 68 RCI points going to get me ANYTHING? We've never used RCI so we are completely unfamiliar with it. We are from MA - so I was thinking perhaps off-season down the cape (i.e. winter). Anyone have any insight into this? If its worthless to dump into RCI, I'd rather keep, book a cheap studio and rent it out.

TIA for all your insight and experience!

You can access RCI from the DVC member website and do your own discovery. Login to your DVC account, navigate to RCI and play around. See what you find. If you see something of interest, you can book directly online. Yes, you can book online w/out having deposited your DVC credits in advance. So go play!

You have to deposit in 10 point increments, so you'll want to make that 70. I think you can add more points later, in case you find something that costs more points.

I had no idea!! Thank you! I will go ahead and see what is w/in driving distance of us

I’d not limit to 70 points when looking. For ex, if a 1br might be 120, it might be worth it to add 50 points to make that reservation. You’ll find tons of nice mountain resorts within driving distance from you as well as spring/fall coastal.
