What is everyone thinking at this point? Is it too much and too intense?

I am also torn to just wait but we have a birthday soon and thinking it could be a good way to help celebrate with a new movie (wish it came with a digital code though).

I haven't seen it yet, but I think it is pretty in line with something like Frozen or Moana. I can tell you Sunday after I see it.

Hey, I just thought I'd chime in since I saw it now. The movie is a bit darker though I don't know if it's too dark for young children. There are some harrowing moments. The creatures aren't scary, but there is one scene with a human skeleton that has a real Indiana Jones vibe - or maybe like The Goonies. If that would scare them, then maybe steer clear, but generally it's about like recent Disney fare like Frozen or Moana in terms of the general tone. I hope that helps.

My 3 kids 8, 6, 3 loved it! I thought it was very enjoyable (even as an adult). I did not find it overly scary or mature and for reference I find the lion king a bit concerning at some scenes.

DS5 thought it was just ok. I thought it just wasn’t very uplifting. Not funny. Not fun. More like a fantasy world history lesson about war. I love Akwafina and I thought her skills were underused. I smirked plenty, but no belly laughs like in Moana.

It's definitely more of an action/adventure tale for sure. There is some humor. I certainly think the story is uplifting by the end, but it is darker than typical. It reminded me a lot of Avatar: The LAst Airbender in tone.

We enjoyed it - not my favorite movie but it was entertaining. I really like Walt Disney Animation movies to be musicals. I like singing characters and for me, that was missing from Raya. It’s action packed from start to finish and very fast paced, though. But I want songs and a catchy soundtrack :)

Lots of fighting. I’d say it’s more intense than your typical Walt Disney Animation film in terms of action, but my 4 & 6 year olds enjoyed it. My daughter covered her face a couple time during the more suspenseful parts.
