Ok folks, I think we're losing steam here :rotfl2: . Not only did I make a homecooked meal after working today I photographed it to boot so gosh darnit I'm posting it:teeth: . It's southwest chicken chili with cornbread (homemade thank you very much). I looked around for a beer in the frig but I must have used the last to make stew over the weekend. I threw the Kit Kat in at the last minute. Don't want to lose those dessert points :rotfl2: . I have no intention of eating it though - it's a crime to ruin lovely chocolate by adding milk :rotfl: .

Nice effort, CEDmom. The chili looks great, especially with the cheese on top. It needs a scoop of sour cream on top to make it everything chili should be, though. The corn bread looks good, but real butter would have been better than margarine. 8 points for the food.

Your beverage is basic (read: boring), and the shocking lack of any kind of straw (bendy or otherwise) takes you to a 5 for the beverage.

Your presentation is also basic, but basically pleasing. I have to agree that the bruise in the pumpkin detracts, and there's no salt and pepper on the table (whether you need to use it or not). I'll give you a 7.5 for presentation, and a 4 for dessert.

Overall score: 6.125. Come back and play again soon. :thumbsup2

BM66 - I love the china! It's fabulous! :thumbsup2

I'm not loving the beverage. Diet Pepsi is good, but this is not. Deduct half a pint for lack of non-funky flavored soda.

The ketchup on the potatoes is overkill. Deduct half a point.

Dessert looks good. Definitely need milk to go with it, though.

All in all, pretty good. Total score 9.0. :cool1:

Thank you for your critique. :goodvibes

Not only were there yummy meals to view, there were new tags doled out today-bravo!

Nice!!! :thumbsup2

The beverage is lacking, though. You at least need some ice in it. Deduct half a point for no ice.

And the pumpkin actually distracts from the presentation, rather than add to it. Or is the pumpkin your vegetable course? Either way I'm deducting half a point.

And I'm wondering about your eating surface. Is that the floor? Interesting.

Total score is 9.0 & that ain't bad. :cheer2:

I wasn't sure about the pumpkin either, I grabbed it at the last minute. I'll put more thought into the design element next time ;) :rotfl: . That eating surface is our extened kitchen counter. We don't have a kitchen table in our new house and the dining room is saved for company, like my DIS friends ;) :rotfl2: .

Darn it, I forgot the salt and pepper. I also remember the sour cream after we'd eaten.

I promise to do better tonight :guilty: :rotfl: .

I rate your liunch a 6. I think you have to have diet pepsi then it would be a ten. :thumbsup2

Merle, I'm feeling the love, my friend. I like the plate and cup a lot. I'd have to ding you 1/2 point for squirting ketchup all over the potatoes before taking the picture. What's that all about? You could have just put the ketchup bottle next to the plate. :sad2: And I'm going to ding another 1/2 point for no fruit or vegie to balance out the plate and the meal. But a 9 is a good score and it's a nice looking meal. :thumbsup2

As to this whole soda critique that people do...let it be known that I do not drink cola of any kind and rarely drink soda at all. Maybe some root beer with pizza. I don't like cola--never have, never will :crazy2: , don't need the sugar of regular soda, and can't have nutrasweet. So go easy on me with the drinks if I ever submit a meal. I usually drink milk unless I'm being bad like last night. :teeth:

Alright here is my dinner, please remember I don't sit at the table for dinner, so I used the counter for photographing.

Dinner was a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich, made with leftover chicken, bleu cheese, provolone, Frank's hot sauce, and bacon on whole wheat bread, oven roasted potatoes with ketchup and a Diet Pepsi Jazz- strawberries and cream. Please note the "china" I used, which I took a pic of first so that you could get the full effect. Dessert was a Entennmens Chocolate donut eaten at the computer while I Dis'sed. No bendy straw, I was to hungry to go downstairs and get one.

Morning, Merle.

Ok, your sandwich looks so good I want it right now. Kudos for the whole wheat bread. :thumbsup2 The blue cheese makes me so happy I'm giving you an 12 for the sandwich.

Personally, I don't even mind the pre-squirted ketchup, since the design of it is aesthetically pleasing. I love potatoes, too, but since I'm low-carbing, I'm going to give you a 7 for the side dish.

The beverage? Way too wacky for me, and you're telling me you had bendy straws in the house, but you just couldn't be bothered to get one? Tsk Tsk. 2 for the beverage.

The china is fun, functional, and thematic for the DIS. I'll give you an 8 for presentation - would be more if some salt and pepper shakers or a cute decorative item had been found to set beside it for the picture, or if a pet were in view. Oh, and whose skate clad feet are those peeking out from under the donut?

That gives you a 7.0 average. Congratulations.

Here's my lunch from yesterday. I used the camera in my phone so it's not great.

Miss Jasmine,

Does this mean you grazed all day on other things?

Lunch today will be out. Going to vist my StepDad and I don't think he'll cotton to taking pictures of my lunch.

Jasmine... :rotfl2: I can't give you an actual number, of course. You know, the whole cola thing, not to mention a diet drink, picture quality with all the distractions, etc. But I love the posting, anyway. :thumbsup2 You gave me a laugh when I really want a strong drink. :teeth:

Yes, I am a grazer. I eat fruits, nuts, cereal, yogurt, etc. all through the day.

Sorry about the distraction but it was a working lunch, I do that so have time to play during the day as well. ;) I'm glad I could make ya laugh. :teeth:

I have a lot of homework to do before class tonight so I don't think lunch is on the agenda. However, I'll submit my breakfast because the day just isn't complete unless someone flambes my meal choices :rotfl:

This includes: 1 carton of Breyers Light (low sugar, high protein) blueberry yogurt, 1 slice of cranberry granola breakfast bread. I'm debating between a smear of cream cheese or butter still. 1 banana and a cup of hot cranberry tea.

CEDmom - It would have been a 10 if your pumpkin was turned. I like your china. :)

LiteBrite - You get my first 10 because I LOVE buffalo chicken. :thumbsup2

Shug - Looks good, but I'm deducting a point because I don't appreciate that end of your banana staring me in the face. :sad2:

Shug, that looks pretty bad, but bananas flambe is good, sliced and cooked with brown sugar, served with brandy, flamed, and served over vanilla ice cream. :thumbsup2 :teeth:

Wow, Shug, fruit city - between the blueberry yogurt, the cranberry granola bread, the banana, and the cranberry tea, a person might think you were trying to make up for the fact that nobody's been eating any fruit with their meals around here! (luvflorida tried to sneak in an apple, but she admitted she wasn't eating it, so that doesn't count). I would give a 10 for the fruit fest, but I'm pretty sure you're trying too hard, so I'm knocking it down to a 9.

Obviously the bread is homemade, Betty, so you get a 9 for that (once again, it would be a 10 if it were whole grain).

7 points for the beverage choice - tea is great, but I don't like fruit flavors.

Presentation gets a 9 because of the Grumpy mug, the cheery checked border on the plate, and the presence of the decorative butter holder. Lack of napkin is holding you back from a perfect 10. Or a glimpse of Petey would have worked, too.

Average score is 8.75. Nice breakfast.

Dang, I wish I could accept that 10, but I'm afraid it rightfully belongs to Merle - that was her dinner with the buffalo chicken sandwich.

Careful, LiteBrite, or you're going to be off of Shug's list! You need to carefully think through any and all comment to her. As far as the fruit, now you know why all the stool softeners were still in her medicine cabinet! :cool1:

Yes, it's home made but I'm easing Dh into the whole grain flour thing. It's gonna take time and some sneakiness. There actually is a paper towel for a napkin under the spoon but it's the same color as the counter so it's hard to see. Petey is currently in hiding and pouting over his lack of a walk this morning, otherwise, if food is involved he's right there with ya

This looks edible. I would probably just have the yogurt, but to each their own. I don't eat breakfast so this looks like a lot of food to me.

The individual components receive 10's, but the meal as a whole receives an 8.
