My DM an DSis are going to the world from May 13th to May 22nd. I had booked Alamo using the free Insiders Club rate last Friday for $238 complete for a compact car.

Today I booked them a mid-size using the same deal for $191 complete! Almost $50 off-A great deal! Once I booked the new offer I cancelled the previous ressie. I just hope I can get such a great rate when DD and I go in Sept/Oct.

FYI-I had also booked them a ressie at Dollar ($271 booked back on April 9th) which was the best deal I found at that time.

I did some research on the cash-less toll situation in Florida and while Dollar charges $8.95 per day for free tolls (a total of about $100 for their trip) Alamo only charges a service fee of $2.95 per 24 hour period that you go thru a cashless toll booth-plus toll fee. Maximum of $14.95 service fee for rental contract period. I think that is a great deal. And at Alamo you don't have to sign up for it-it's automatic if you go thru a cash-free toll. At Dollar if you don't sign up for it and go thru a cash-free toll booth you will be charged $15 each time.

I have now rebooked, and cancelled, several times using Insiders Deals and they are now getting a mid-size for $172/complete. :cool1: Price is still the same today, arriving 5/13 and leaving 5/22.

Total savings $66 and a larger vehicle.

Ooh! Thanks for the info! Where did you find this insiders rate? Am looking for car from June 6 7:00 pm- June 21st noon, and getting a little freaked out at the cost. Any tips you have are appreciated!!!

For some reason the $25 off a week is not working for early June, hope they get if fixed soom

I called on the code. They said there are too many coupons for the MCO location. They only allow so many coupons per location

I've managed to reduce my TOTAL rental cost to $168.37 for the dates 5/11 - 5/21 out of PBI. That's for a Full-sized car, no discount coupons or upgrades needed!!! Hubby wants the reservation info, but I keep telling him "I'm not done yet." :rotfl2:

Concerning the cashless toll options. We live in CA and bought a Sunpass transponder on one of our 1st trips to FL, back in 2001. It goes with us when we travel, which makes the 417 and Beachline really easy to use. The best thing is, FL doesn't charge a maintenance fee to keep a transponder activated. Buy it once, take it back home with you and use it again on your next trip. They only cost $25 to purchase and are available at Publix and CVS Pharmacies. You will have to load a minimum of $10 on the transponder to cover tolls, but using your own transponder will save you $$ on the tolls themselves. We have to register the rental car's license plate with SunPass to make sure we don't get double charged by the rental agency, but I found that I can put the car rental company's transponder into the glove box and forget about it. That was the BEST $25 we ever spent in FL!!!!!
