Rapunzel Meet & Greet Question

I have read several posts suggesting one family member high tail it to this at rope drop to "save a place in line" while the others do some rides in Fantasyland. This is okay with the others in line? My family can just walk past those waiting to join the parent already in line? Or are those suggesting this being rude?

I don't think anyone is going to stop you, I wouldn't. I know how long princess lines can be!

For a great, easy, and a lot of Princess meet and greets, go to world showcase when it opens and there are plenty, I met with belle, Jasmine, and Alice in 30 min!

This is the one case I can think of at a WDW M&G where the CMs there have consistently encouraged this behavior. So, it doesn't matter what the other families think, and they should probably take advantage of it themselves.

I know there is plenty of debate on whether it is rude for one family member to hold a place in line while others do something else. I don't think it's rude at all and honestly, doesn't add to the wait time. We went to MNSSHP and I got in line for the Dwarfs while DH took our young kids to the playground by Splash Mt. Many other parents did the same thing and the long wait was much more pleasant without impatient kids. I'm certain the people in front of me and behind me were grateful that my kids were playing ;)

But when we did it in May, the wait was 2 hrs in 95 degree temps... not only did we send extra family off but those of us in line rotated "cool" breaks for A/C in the QS near the queue. We even bought the CzM watching the line a water and would share fans.

Maybe it was the heat, but I found those in line with me to be beyond reasonable and helpful

when we were there in May 2011, the CM was actually going down the line and asking each person how many people there were in in their group. He was counting the numbers on his little hand-held counter and then he went to the end of the line and advised people if they were going to make it in or not.

When we went last May they only let in a certain amout of people each hour and the CM asked each person getting in line how many would be in the final group and they kept track of how many people were in line that way. Then each hour they would let in a group of about 50 all at once. I think they changed it and now it's more like any other meet and greet where you stand in line and when you get to the front of the line it's your turn.

Just out of curiosity, does Rapunzel show up anywhere else in the parks or is this the only place to see her? I am sure DD would like a pic with her, but I know she won't wait that long. She would probably say something like "Mom, we can wait if yooouuuuu want, but if not, lets go ride Pirates."princess:

She starts her first meet, so you won't have much time to try to ride anything. I suggest, hightail and stand a few minutes so you don't miss your opportunity.

Yes this is the only place to see Rapunzel. I think the CMs actually encourage one person from the party to wait in the line outside of the "garden" area. There is only a certain number of people let into the garden at a time, once inside the kids can color while the adults wait, but as far as the line outside the garden goes (which is usually 45- an hour) I am pretty sure one person from the party can wait without being "rude" especially since this is the only place the CMs encourage it. At least that was our experience in October, it isn't a show like it was with Flynn but the do cut the line off so only a small amt of people are waiting inside the garden.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I am not sure DD loves Rapunzel enough to wait a long time to meet her, but it is good to know I could hold a place in line for her if need be.

When we were in MK on 1/5 the wait around 7 p.m. was 1 hour 45 minutes to get into the "garden" area. So if you do plan to go, be ready to wait :/

And then you wait again once you get inside. :sad1: You definitely have to make a committment to see Rapunzel. We kept putting it off until the last day, when we asked our kids if they really wanted to give up riding rides to meet her. It was our third MK day, and the kids were fine waiting to meet her. I'm not sure if they would have been so patient earlier in the week. I think the entire process took about 2 hours...an hour waiting outside, about an hour inside the garden, because we were the second-to-the-last family to be let in.

I think CMs encourage whole groups not to wait because the Rapunzel line stretches out along a walkway leading to the castle and really restricts traffic in that area.

Where is Rapunzel and is she there first thing at rope drop?
We have 8:05 reservations for CRT on a 9:00 rope drop day - and I am wondering if we should go do Rapunzel first thing before any rides.

We were there in October and saw that line on the way to eat at Cosmic Ray's. It was frightening. A friend who was there with her family the same week said they were advised to power walk there at rope drop. She said they did that and only waited 30 minutes. So that will be our plan for when we return in June.

On our first trip in November 2010 dd had not seen the movie so it wasn't a big deal not to meet her. She was a bit disappointed the line was so long in October, so we'll give it a go at rope drop and hope for the best. My crew can't separate, but we have 3 visits to MK planned on our next trip and I've put this on our most laid back day. I hope it works out. Although I am sincerely hoping things have calmed somewhat by then.

The right side of the castle close-ish to tomorrowland. The best way I can think to describe it is go to Sir Mickeys then walk away from the castle on a little side path and you should see her/the line.

Not sure about rope drop

I would recommend going to Rapunzel as soon as you can.

When we made our 805 CRT rezzie and told the CM it was so we can get in line for Rapunzel ASAP, the CM referred to it as the "Rapunzel Run". I've also heard it called the 'Rapunzel Dine-n-Dash'

That said, I saw a few rumors that she may be moved to make room for the new Pixar Princess from Brave. I would highly recommend keeping an eye on things as the release of that movie draws closer to see if Rapunzel gets moved elsewhere and the gardens are turned over to 'advertising' the newest addition to the Princess family.

((I full admit these are just rumors but I have seen them in three different parts of the interwebs and it would make sense.... but sense doesn't necessarily rule anything ;) ))

I should have known it was a "thing"
We just made our ADR's early so we could take pictures in front of the castle without the crowds and so that we would still be available for rope drop.
I had no idea the lines from Rapunzel were so long! She's the current favorite and my 8 year old wants to wear a rapunzel dress to breakfast though so it looks like we'll definitely be doing the "Rapunzel run" instead of heading to dumbo. By that time dumbo should be bigger and better anyhow so fingers crossed the Dumbo crazy long line issue will be partially resolved.

Are there any character meals that have Rapunzel in them?

nevermind, I found my answer...

I was told by Rapunzel's attendant last week that she would be moving to Town Hall soon. But she didn't say why. Hearing that Merida may be replacing her makes me squeal with delight as I was REALLY hoping they'd make her a regular face character we could meet!
Until they decide to bring Flynn back, I really don't care where they stick Rapunzel.
