Rank the coasters

Due to a vestibular disorder, I get dizzy on certain rides. So far I just try it out and see (which doesn't always end well), but I like to have some sense of rides before going on them.

So I'd like to hear opinions on which coasters are the most and least tame. I just saw a post that said a child loves the Matterhorn but Gadget's scared the pants off her. (That surprised me.) I recognize you can't make direct comparisons since there are so many variables - smooth or bumpy, fast or slow, continuous or stop for breaks, etc., but taking that all into consideration, what do *you* think are the most tame/intense?

Can you be a little more specific in what types of rides make you dizzy? Does physically spiraling in a circle cause the dizziness? Going in a loop? Does it help to see where you're going, like on an outdoor coaster, rather than a coaster like Space Mountain where you're in the dark?

Tame to Intense.
Gadget Go Coaster
Matterhorn
BTMRR
Space
Screemin
Goofy's Sky School

That is so funny! I will go on Goofy's, but I am scared to death of Screamin'! Is it the smoothness of Screamin' that makes it not as bad? I have always wondered about the upside down, too - is it so fast that you don't realize you are upside down until you are right side up again?

Beyond spinning and going upside down, it's not really clear what exactly bothers me and what doesn't. Honestly, a lot of it has to do with what else I have done that day. So I wasn't really asking for advice on what to go on, just trying to get an idea of what people think are most and least intense and why.

I would not recommend Space Mountain. I get sick from spinny rides and Space is the worst. My family recently counted the turns: 2 left, 2 right, 1 left, 11 right, 1 last left. It's those 11 rights followed by the one left. It gets your brain fluid spinning one way and then jerks it the other. EXTREME nausea every. single. time.

Once in a while, I forget how truly bad it makes me feel and go on it again. Last time was for Ghost Galaxy when we were there in 2009. I'm not sure I'll ever go on it again!

When you do the loop, it's over quick, and not like other coasters where you go upside down again and again.

Screemin is very smooth, one of the best and possibly the best big coaster I've been on for feeling fast and smooth.

Goofy's Sky School is rough because the short radius in the turns and valleys, and no banking on the turns.

The only one I can't/won't get on anymore is Space Mountain. Got it once on my first trip, got sick as all heck, but thought it was from lack of eating. Went on it again during the Halloween tour last year, still got sick. I don't know if it's due to not having a point of reference or what, but I just can't ride this one without feeling awful during and after. For me it's actually an "oh god i'm going to throw up if this doesn't end NOW" kind of ride.

Anything else I can ride all day though. :confused3

I find this list funny too, Matt. I can, and have, ridden every one of these except Screamin. I rode it exactly once, and it made me feel ill for hours afterward. Had to lie down on a park bench for a while before I could even walk. But went on Goofy and Matterhorn many times in a row with DGD last time out.

Space and BTMRR are OK, but close to the edge for me. First time is OK; and I can even chance a 2nd ride, usually. Any more than that and it's bad.

My own ordering for your list would be, tame to intense:

Gadget
Goofy's Sky School
Matterhorn
Space
BTMRR
Screamin - by far!

-Bob

Gadget Go Coaster
- Speedy, but small and fairly gentle

BTMRR - lots of up and downs, banked turns, speedy, not very intense

Matterhorn - Most people think this ride is very tame, but I can't ride it because the bumpiness and loud noise gives me a terrible headache for the rest of the day.

Screamin - Speedy, but smooth ride

Space - Sudden turns, can make people pretty dizzy

Goofy's Sky School - Really sharp, jerky, turns

Hope this helps! :D

I second this! I have ridden some pretty big coasters in my time but Space was too much for me! Make me feel so sick and dizzy, even closing my eyes didn't help. Too disorientating :scared: and yet no loops or anything. Nope. Give me screamin any day! It's now a standing joke in our family that we NEVER want to ride Space again! :rotfl:
