Rango....*sigh*

I like most movies that others hate, that is why I didn't give the reviews (the one's I saw) much creedance. I loved Twister, Eyes Wide Shut and numerous other "bad" films.

Oh, well, there's your problem. You just have bad taste.

Interesting because the reviews from both critics and the public are still pretty good. I've decided that it's just DISers that don't like it.

Right. I didn't want to see it until I went to rottentomatoes.com and now I want to see it.

I thought we were the only ones who hated it at first but I talked to 6 different families this morning who saw it over Spring Break and all of them hated it. I honestly don't know anyone IRL that has liked it yet - my FB feed was lit up about it this week, too.

I thought it was interesting it got such good reviews! There must be a market for it somewhere and it's just not anywhere near me

My DD11 liked it. I didn't. I was glad I was awake to see one scene near the end. I thought that scene was good.

In addition, I was unaware that I was going opening weekend so I had to deal with annoying yapping people, kids kicking the back of my seat, wiggling kids sitting a few seats over and someone constantly texting during the movie in front of us.

Next time I go to the movies, I'm checking to see when it comes out! I hate going opening weekend!

Just goes to show you that there is a wide variety of tastes when it comes to movies. . .and food, wine, books, politicians, et. al. I found the movie more adult-oriented with subtextual humor and homages to many movies (Chinatown and High Noon to name just two), and I thoroughly enjoyed it as did my 10-year old daughter. It wasn't on the level of any Toy Story movie, but then again, it didn't purport to be. Was it an offbeat movie? Sure. Was it a bit existentialist at the beginning? Yes. But, was it a horrible movie? No.

My Mom took my niece (age 9) and they thought it was great. I took my 8 year old son, he kind of liked it, and I hated it. I wish that my mom had mentioned the huge snake in it (which scared my son). I thought the characters were bizarre and weird looking, I spent the entire movie trying to figure out what kind of animals they were supposed to be.

Overall, was NOT good. Not funny, not cute or sweet. Depressing and strange.

I really, really wanted to like Rango. We were so excited to watch it, but it was just terrible! The characters were gross to look at and it was boring, boring, BORING.

This is all just my opinion, had to share.

Same here. I actually ended up pulling out my nook and reading half way thru the movie.

In the beginning of the movie, there's an armadillo sliced in half on the road (hit by car) asking for help to get up. Gross! Strange! Continues on like that for the rest of the movie.

Rango is cute and kinda funny, but he belongs in a different movie, I think.

Yeah that armadillo thing was really gross then all of a sudden he was fixed. I didn't like all the time spent on or around the road period.

Rango himself was very cute, but this movie was hard to follow, too many characters and just not really kid friendly.

I don't see a connection between a 1977 Wes Craven horror film and/or a 2006 remake and an animated western about an iguana becoming sheriff of a town with a drought problem.. Of course, I've never seen The Hills Have Eyes, but I read the plot, and the only connection I see is that both occur during a road trip.

As for the movie itself, my DD14 moved it, my DS10 thought it was stupid, and we probably should NOT have brought our younger nieces to it.

I though it was brilliant.

I can understand how someone might not enjoy the movie, but I can't for the life of me understand how it was "depressing." Rango overcomes odds; he becomes a better man, er, lizard. It is strange in places, but depressing? Nahhh. As another posted, the animation was stunning--FlightlessDuck, I agree--it was subversely wonderful.

I'll probably rent the movie when it comes out. I always thought that it looked weird in the ads but sometimes I like weird.

I knew the movie wasn't going to become a classic when I asked my 7yo nephew how he liked it and he answered "...it was really long" This from the same kid who said Tangled was "awesome"
