If they animated "The Hills Have Eyes", I believe it would be close to Rango.

I really, really wanted to like Rango. We were so excited to watch it, but it was just terrible! The characters were gross to look at and it was boring, boring, BORING.

This is all just my opinion, had to share.

My friend brought her nine year old daughter to see it today and they ended up leaving it was so bad. :headache:

That's a shame. The previews looked decent.

The previews did look good! We were excited to see it and it was HORRIBLE. The characters were gross looking and the story was boring. There were several times we thought about walking out but the theater was packed so we would have had to fight our way out. I didn't think it was a good kids movie at all either with the violence. I looked at reviews after the movie (we went opening night) and people either LOVED it or HATED it, didn't see much in between. I only know 1 person that said she enjoyed it and I had to ask if she was drunk or high while watching it, she said she was neither but I'm not sure I believe it. lol

(I posted in the other Rango thread last week as well)

We had a group of 17 - couple teenagers, couple adults, 13 tweens and we all gave it a big fat thumbs down. Awful movie, and it takes a lot for me to say that about any movie.

I posted last Sunday that we walked out of the movie.

The trailer made the movie look like a quirky but "family" animated western, but I feel that wasn't the case at all. The first 45 minutes were very dark. Don't know how it ended but don't even care.

I have now learned my lesson about PG rated movies, to read the reviews and know the content first.

My issue wasn't that it wasn't necessarily family friendly, I didn't find myself uncomfortable in it at any point alongside 11-17 year olds, but a friend took her 10 year old and said she didn't appreciate the environmental political message that was in your face at the end. Course, by the end I was just admiring the animation so I could keep my eyes open and don't remember an overtly political message...

I took DD11 and two of her friends to see it tonight. It was so boring that I nodded off about 3/4 into the movie.

I found it to be awfully boring that I texted my husband two seats away that I was bored to death....lol...

My DS15 went to see it with his friends and they liked it. Go figure. :rotfl2:

My friend mentioned that her 5 year old was invited to see it with a classmate, but they were busy so her DD wasn't able to go. I told her I didn't really think it was a movie for 5 year olds!

I have it in my netflix queue but I'm not really excited to see it.....and it's rated PG, I don't understand why people think it's a "family" movie at all.......we regularly screen PG movies here....but then I've been told I'm way overprotective by doing that...which I completely disagree with, hence the reason we do it. LOL

I wasn't concerned with the "family friendly" aspect of the movie. We are very liberal with what we let our kids see, I'm sure they experience worse at school. My problem was, it was just a bad, bad, HORRIBLE movie.

At least the 25.00 popcorn, cokes and nachos were good!!

The reason people think its amfamily movie even though its rated PG is because the commercial portrays it that way and then movies like rapunzel are rated PG and are perfectly fine for family viewing

I just saw a commerical for Rango and right on the commerical it said
*This years best family movie*

We hated it also! We left halfway through the movie...the mang saw us leave and offered us tickets for another movie, they had alot of people leaving unhappy.

DS12 liked it. I agree with PP, it's Hills Have Eyes in animated form:scared1: In the beginning of the movie, there's an armadillo sliced in half on the road (hit by car) asking for help to get up. Gross! Strange! Continues on like that for the rest of the movie.

Rango is cute and kinda funny, but he belongs in a different movie, I think.

I wouldn't take anyone younger than 10, or you'll have a lot of 'splaining to do.

Oh well. We liked it, and so did 11 yr old DD. Not the best family movie I've ever seen, but lots of funny parts and the animation was stunning.

However, I can't figure out who did the voice of the main mariachi bird, and it's driving me crazy, because he sounded just like Antonio Banderas!

I don't feel the commercials do portray it that way, but maybe that's just me. I mean, I got the sense from the commercials that it's moer geared towards older kids and adults, not younger kids.

Really? I guess I just never noticed that....but that may be because I don't really watch commercials at all. :)

Here's a link to the cast, maybe you can figure it out from here. :) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1192628/fullcredits

Just wanted to add: That nose on the blind mole, could not have been more obvious. I know what they intended it to be and boy was it gross, lol.:lmao:

Interesting because the reviews from both critics and the public are still pretty good. I've decided that it's just DISers that don't like it. ;)

I like most movies that others hate, that is why I didn't give the reviews (the one's I saw) much creedance. I loved Twister, Eyes Wide Shut and numerous other "bad" films. Like I said, this is just my opinion and wanted to share. I WANTED to love Rango, oh well, looking forward to the next movie trip!:)
