Randy lovers .... Misty lovers .... I need YOUR help!

We just got married on Sept 26th and went with Randy. I, like so many others, was torn between who to choose. I went to my mom and dad for their opinions. They preferred Randy's style. The more I looked at Misty's, the more I realized that what I liked was the amount of photos she photoshopped to be more dramatic, etc. So, what decided it for me was the fact that I should be focusing on the ACTUAL photos that they were taking. Both are great photographers, but since I am able to do the photoshopping myself, I decided to take that out of the equation, and Randy's photos ended up speaking to me more.

Randy helped me carry my train, he tried to fix my hair and when it wouldn't go he made sure to get pictures from my "good side". They're in the same business so I think they both know how to handle brides and what they want. I'm sure you won't regret your choice, whomever you choose.

Would someone be able to share prices? If you are having an Espcape wedding are you able to not have the photographer and use the money towards another part of the wedding?

thanks

If you have an outside photographer then Disney offer to send their photographer on the day too. We double-checked this with Randy and he is ok with it, as long as the other photographer stays in the background and doesn't take over.

The first thing we booked was the photographer and it was Randy all the way for us. We prefer his style of photos and he is brilliant to deal with. There are a few specific shots we would like and some we definitely don't and heis great with all of them. I have collected some of my favourite shots that he has done and am going to send them over to him closer to the day.

He has really worked with us to get the style and type of photos we want and made recommendations too.

Obviously we haven'thad any wedding photos taken yet, but I can't recommend him highly enough so far.

Oh, and I am a real camera-tart and respond much better to a man behind the camera than a woman!

I really can't say enough about Randy. As far as helping you during the day, one of my BM heels broke 20 minutes before the wedding. My WP and assistant tried to fix it, but couldn't. Randy came along and fixed them, and they stayed together for the entire night. He is my hero!

That's the problem with having a long engagement, there's too much time to question your decisions and change your mind!! :lmao:

I'm going with Misty, I love her style, and know that it would take me years to master photoshop like she has. I check out her blog every so often, and it just reinforces how beautiful her photos are.

Having said that, and made up my mind, I try and avoid looking at too many other photographers, I don't want to start second guessing my desicion, and I know I'm going to be 100% satisfied with Misty no matter what.

I don't know what Randy does, I am sure he does the same but Misty gives you the regular pictures along with the photoshop versions.

Aside from choosing to do a Disney wedding, choosing Misty and Nelio was the single best decision we made about our wedding day. I truly can't express into words how much they not only capture all of those moments of your perfect day on film, but also help create them. Some of my best memories that day were of me and my husband walking around the Boardwalk with Misty and Nelio, having a drink and taking pictures. They make you feel like you've been friends forever, and that your wedding is the most important wedding they've ever done. The pictures speak for themselves, they're amazing. It took me and my husband about 9 months to actually pick our pictures b/c we had about 4,000 to choose from. Every person who has seen our pictures, goes on and on about how we had the best photographers, and that no one has ever seen wedding pictures so beautiful. My perfect day truly would have been incomplete without the two of them.

I cant talk about Misty, but I can say with Randy- we got married 3 days ago and he was amazing!

Patricia from Lejune did my hair and told me Randy would be at least 15 minutes early- well he was a half an hour early! He was really friendly and learned everyone's names. He was great coming up with creative shots, and he let me do every picture I suggested too!

We went with Randy because I love his work and bc saving money with the DVD only package was the perfect option with me.

Aaaahhh...more choices. lol.

Just so I'm clear, Randy doesn't have another photographer working with him but Missy does. Right? I'd like to have a individual photographer with me and my groom throughout the morning while we're each getting ready and getting over to the WP.

Does the Disney photography team do that? I know there are varying opinions on the quality of Disney...

I really cannot choose- unless DF helps me decide... i think it will be a flip of the coin because i love their work both so much!

It is obviously a personal decision but I chose Misty because I actually think she photoshops less than Randy. In my pictures the effects are softer and I think it was more about the art of the shot, and she only used photoshop to enhance it. When I see pics on here of Randy's they always, to me, seem to be more photoshopped. I wanted to be able to recognize my wedding day, not have it hiding behind crazy effects. I also feel her work is more consistent.

Again, it it JMO but after speaking with both photographers I loved Misty's personality and I knew she would capture the spirit of my wedding and was a better match for my husband's and my upbeat personality.

Regardless of who you choose you will have a great day and I am sure you will love your pictures like every other bride here does. :goodvibes

Thank you! :flower3:To me it is a perfect example of her skills. All she did when compared with the original untouched (other than be an AMAZING photog) is highlight the edges around us. Seriously, with her you can't go wrong. But everyone seems happy either way.

Just to add to the Photoshop discussion, out of nearly 3000 photos from Randy, only about 35 are Photoshopped, although I agree that some of them are quite heavily photoshopped. However, I also have the original shot so I can choose between them :thumbsup2

Oh, and he also turned about 300 of them into black and white, with no photoshopping.

I'm not using Misty or Randy, but here's how I decided who I wanted which I hope may help you. I looked through a ton of pictures, TR's, pics on the POTD thread, etc, and found that all the pics that I really LOVED were all by the same photographers. :lovestruc So that pretty much decided it for me.

Maybe you and DF can sit together and look through a bunch of pics, and even keep track on a piece of paper to see how many of each's pics you truly love. Not just, "that's a great picture", I mean, "I love that and would want a pic like that" and whoever gets more votes wins! :)

If you still can't decide after that (or it's even and you really do like them both the same.) then maybe start comparing price vs. benefits and talk to each one and see who you have more of a connection with. I know it's hard with the time difference, but that may really help you decide.

Good luck, I'm sure whatever you decide in the end you'll be happy. :goodvibes, I haven't heard a bad thing about either of them!

Yup, same with our photos. Out of the 2000+ he only photoshopped about 20 -- although we didn't ask for nor did keep any of those. I've added blurred edges or sephia to some of my photos on Picassa, but that was me fooling around, my photos from Randy are 100% untouched. Also, our package included black & white photos so he didn’t have to make changes if we wanted that effect.

Although I haven't had my wedding yet, I will comment about working with Randy. I booked him in April, and have since changed my ceremony date, location, and time at least 5 different times, and also changed around "extra" photography dates, times and places. He has been so flexible with working with me, and has never made me feel bad about how many times I have changed things around. He also answers my emails within 24 hours with I like!

can i ask all you disney brides who have used randy for your photographer, did you book direct with him or did you do it through disney. Our wedding is a way off yet - we are looking at march 16 2011/12. (not sure whether its worth waiting an extra year so we get to use the new princess land for the mk photoshoot) but i just wondered as he seems very popular and i bet he gets booked up pretty quickly.

You have to book him direct.

I was between three photographer...Domenico, Misty and Randy and at the end I chose Misty. IMO, she has close to the same creativity as Domenico but not the high cost and Randy's pics look nice but do not have that "WOW" factor I'm looking for (of course this is my opinion)
