Hiya all!

Can you girls try and help me decide on what photographer I want!? :confused3

Now, I originally wanted Misty Miotto because he photos are so dreamy and amazing. I have heard that she is great – and she even helps do touch ups on the brides make up every now and then during the day! I was thinking of getting her 8 hour gold package, or possibly the 10 hour platinum package.

Now – I keep seeing Randy’s pics pop up everywhere and I’m beginning to think… ahh I like him. I like his work. I have heard he even helps out do things like doing up the brides corset and helping out everywhere as well as taking his photos! What makes me like him even more is that its possible that I can get a video package for a little extra. Now- I never wanted a video package and have never even considered it, purely because of me thinking it will be quite costly, and now I can have the chance to get this for a little price!

I don’t know how to choose or WHO to choose!

Please can you give me a little help on what made you decide… and also can you post your favorite Randy pic or Misty pic!? (I know there are plenty of threads with their photos but it will really help me!)

Thank you!

Stacey
When I was choosing my package it came down to a couple of things.
1. I had also heard that Misty helps with touch ups and stuff. (bonus)
2. For her price, you are getting 2 photographers...which was huge for me b/c I could get photos from different angles and if one photographer was with DF...another was with me.
3. I've seen Misty evolve over the past couple of years. (I've been lurking around here for awhile) and I love where her style is going.

In the end, while Randy was in the running...After talking to Misty I was sold. She gave me little tips on locations and that sort of thing -even while just talking to her! I hadn't even put a downpayment yet!
Misty also said that she tries to get every bride a signature shot. Something unique to each bride...THAT WAS THE CLINCHER! At least one of my photos will be unique to me...I loved that idea.
She was very up front and honest as well and said that if you have a wish list a mile long that it won't leave her much time to be creative. She would rather you get what you want, but has seen it where the Bride wants a ton of specific shots and they run out of time for the fun stuff.

I am very happy with my choice and can't wait to have my wedding day with her as our photographer!

Get out of my head!

I know!! While my planning is far away, I look at both of their pictures and have no idea which I would choose!!

I think you should talk to both. Your heart should speak to you louder. I swore I would have Randy when I get married, but you never know! Misty's pictures are beautiful!!

Here's a question I just thought of. With either photographer, has anyone asked for certain shots NOT to be taken? I only ask because I really don't like dead-on profile shots. (I really don't like my profile.) Would either of them do this? I mean obviously it may be difficult and some would be taken, but for the most part, at least try and get an angle?

Having been around the boards for several years now, I will give my perspective between the two. Randy appears to produce more natural looking photos without a lot of photoshopping, though he usually does a handful of photoshopped photos for each couple. Misty appears to do a lot more photoshopping and color saturation to her photos. So for me it's a matter of which you like better.

With Randy you may only have one photographer, but man can he move ! He got so many shots from different angles! We had no idea where he was during the ceremony, but he got tons of shots from all over the place. I can't say for Misty, as we hired Randy and didn't regret it for a second.

I know Misty couples feel the same...so you just have to weigh out the options. Like I said though, it appears to me to be more a matter of the photoshopping and over saturation with colors. I preferred more natural looking shots. With Randy, if there is a particular photo or photos you want photoshopped, he is usually okay with doing a couple more for you too.

Randy has done so many Disney weddings, he knows how things work and the general timelines, the ins and outs. DFTW is used to working with him and they have a great working relationship. Again, I can't speak for Misty, though I haven't heard of any problems there either.

Good luck. Photography was very important to me, so I know how agonizing this can be !

yes the photography is VERY important to me too - i adore photos, im the kinda person if my house was on fire, my box of photos would be the first and only thing i would grab! photos mean so much to me and i agree, its such a hard decision.

Im so happy to hear all your reasons why you chose your photographer. I love both Randy and Mistys styles ... darnnn i wish it was an easier decision to make!! :rotfl:

Well since my DF and I didn't get engaged till June and didn't decide to have an escape wedding till July, and oh yeah I didn't really start planning till mid september:rotfl: neither are available, but from what I have seen they both do great work. I do like Mistys style a tad bit more though! either wa I think you pick a winner!

I agree with the poster who mentioned the post processing. Misty uses a lot of tricks with her photos. Randy has been moving a little more in this direction as well, but it seems he only does it with some photos and gives you the originals as well. I actually AM a fan of post processing, but find Misty a little too much for my own personal taste. (Roots also does a whole lot of editing to their pictures as, but I enjoy their personal style.)

It's all about personal aesthetic, really. I don't think you could go wrong with either Misty or Randy. They're both talented and, from all reports, amazing to work with. See if you can find some full weddings that they've done and see which style you like best. Honestly, I don't think you'll be disappointed either way. :thumbsup2

I don't envy you, this is a tough call because both are awesome photographers.

I agree 100% with Shelli here. Its a matter of taste.

I personally prefered natural shots and Randy is just amazingly creative, he didn't touch a shot, all of them were perfectly natural.
That being said, I've seen Misty's photos and they are just awesome, these people know how to rock photoshop!

One last thing, I’ve come to the conclusion that a major factor in photos is the couple. Fun and playful couples will have great shots no matter what.

So the singularity of your photos will depend on your personalities as well …I suggest making a list of places or landmarks that you love on Disney property now.

How did we make our decision?

We opted for a beach romantic theme – doesn’t really require photoshopping so it was an easy decision to pick Randy.

Had I opted for the fun, funky, colorful or Disney themed, I think I would have gone with Misty, hands down.

Hope this helps!:goodvibes

Abby - i love your photos - the b&w photos Randy does look sooo soulful and natural... but i love the bright colourful photos misty does ... this is why im so torn.

Like you have all said... they both use photoshop and im sure either photographer can make both styles of shots.

Cant someone make up my mind for me!?:confused3

Why do i have to choose!!??? :rotfl:

Here is why I liked Misty.

1) With Misty you have TWO photographers. Her husband is also there taking pictures. Misty is 100% with you the whole time while her husband takes pictures of the men and all the little details that Misty isn't shooting at the time. With two photographers you end up with a whole lot of pictures. I believe I had over 5,000 pictures.

2) Misty also does make up so she touched up my make up for me all day long making sure it always looked good for the pictures.

3) My bustle broke and Misty fixed it for me. She was always fixing my dress, my hair, my make up.

4) Misty is a woman so she knows what kind of shots a woman wants for her wedding day. She knows you want all the details captured.

5) Misty will go out of her way to get the perfect shot. There was one shot where she laid in a big puddle of water and was soaked just so that she could get the best angle. I thought that was amazing.

6) Her husband Nelio was like an assistant to me. He was carrying my train and an umbrella around for me. LOL.

7) She was like a friend. I still talk to her all the time on Facebook to this day. She doesn't treat her clients like a client. She treats them like friends.

Ok that was my 2 cents. :lmao:

Did you give Misty the make up to use or did she actually have some on hand for her brides? Does your make up artist provide the touch up make up or do you have to provide it? I find this so sweet- with both Misty and Randy - how they treat you... doing little things like your make up and sorting out your hair and Randy getting the brides dressed! haha!

That's definitely a plus. I love Randy but my makeup was gone after dinner, and there wasn't much he could do about it, lol

Stacey- Don’t worry! Either way you slice it, both are excellent. Just think about what’s more important to you.;)

Actually Beaute Speciale gave me some touch up make up for the day but Misty does have a kit with her.

I agree with Abby. They are both great. I think it comes down to the style of pictures that you want. They are both different but both have special touches that make them unique. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Lol, this is so true! On one part of our wedding DVD you can see Randy running along behind the car to get the shots! I was really amazed at the variety we ended up with considering he was on his own.

We had the basic package, then added an additional two hours so he could spend half an hour with Carl, Robin and Joshua before coming over to POFQ. This meant we had shots of both of us getting ready, which was fab.

As far as videography, we didn't think we wanted it until about a month before. Because of the short notice we went with Disney, but it would have been better value (as you say) to have done a package with Randy and Stan. However, I am SOOOOO pleased that we did get a video at all - everyone back home has enjoyed watching, and it catches lots of things you might not otherwise get to see :thumbsup2

I went with Randy! I really think you won't go wrong either way. My DF and I had a BLAST doing our engagement photos with him...he was very easy to work with! It was a lot of fun, and I was surprised at how nice the photos turned out. I'm sorry I'm unable to post my pictures on here, but you can look at our engagement photos in a videolink at http://chapmanphotography.typepad.com/ (Ours is the second one down). We're both really excited about doing our wedding photos with him! Hope that helps! :goodvibes

omg, your photos are amazing! I am in love with them:lovestruc

Randy just gets better and better!

We went with Randy as well...we looked at lots of photographers and my Moh, being a wedding photorapher herself, really hepled us. We went with Randy because we loved his style and he didn't photoshop so much. His price was great and now after meeting him we are really happy! I think our number one choice was actually between two other photographers but we couldn't justify $5000+ on it. Randy was definily a VERY close second but his prices were so much more reasonable!!

Thanks AbbyPan!! :goodvibes You're very sweet and kind!! I have to say that during our short engagement photo session, my DF bonded with Randy. It was the most fun we had with taking photos. :lmao:
