hello,
can anyone let me know the difference between a 2 Queen vs 2 Double room at the Ramada Maingate. i asked the inn and they said the 2 queen BR was bigger (duh!)

i guess a better question would be, would a 2 double room be adequate for 2 adults and dd5 and dd2??

the difference is around $10/night + tax. staying 6 nights and mainly using the rooms for sleeping and showering etc etc...

Just stayed there last month. We had a 2 standard bed room. It was decent size if your not planning on spending much extra time in there. We had 3 adults in there, and we even used an air mattress! We moved the table and chairs and used that space to lay out the air mattress. The beds were fine, but I am only 5'1 and had the bed to myself. The other bed was occupied by my friend who's a 5'9 guy and he didn't complain. If you aren't concerned with bed size, just room size, then I would say you should be fine in the standard bed room.

thanks for the quick response. how would the room compare to other standard rooms in other hotels you may have stayed at??

were the rooms upgraded? or older??

how many stars would you rate the inn??

any other info would be appreciated

The hotel has older rrooms needing remodeling and they have rooms freshly remodeled. It all depends what room they give you. I have stayed at the Ramada every time we have gone but once and I will not do that again. I do not know how I would rate it on stars. Every time I have stayed we just sleep there. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean and our needs are met. Only complaint I have is the continental breakfast is lacking in quality. Its good and plentiful but the pastries, muffins and donuts are "generic" and are just not that tasty. But there is plenty of juice, milk, bagels, cereal, fruit and the like. I am not a big breakfast guy and just need something to hold me over a bit so this is not a huge deal for me.

As for the double versus queen question I will not ever get a double bed again. I sleep on a California king at home so a queen is pretty small and a double is not an option.

Lastly every room has a fridge and microwave which makes taking food/keeping food easier.

Just a heads up the Ramada is doing a remodel and they have numerous specials so check there website and/or facebook.

The room I stayed in looked remodeled. Everything looked clean and new and pretty modern. There was a mini fridge which was great. Staff was great. One of the outlets didn't work but that wasn't much of an issue for us. I don't really have any pictures of the room except for ones of me and my friends acting stupid :rotfl2: I could PM you one if you wanna get an idea of how the room looks.
The bathroom was good too. The sink and stuff was in the bathroom, not outside the door like some places. I actually prefer it this way. Parking was never an issue, either. Never had to search for a spot, always had open ones near our room.

It was pretty much like any other standard room at other hotels I have stayed in the past.

We're staying here in less than 2 weeks and I made sure to book the 2 queen, not doubles. Its me, dh and our two young daughters. I don't even know why hotels have so many 2-doubles rooms. Double beds are way too small for couples :scared1:

I've heard that they have remodelled rooms and dated rooms. We arrive on a Thursday afternoon so I'm hoping that will be a good time to request a remodelled one. Fingers crossed.

I'm really excited about how close it is to Disney. First night there, we're going to hit Downtown Disney. Its 5 minutes away... may as well!

well, let me know how you liked the inn?
