Help me decide... Haven't a clue, I'm only stayed at BWPPI or GHC. Thanks!! Main concerns are clean, bug free and reasonable walk to park with 3 kids.

Thank you!!

We stayed at the Ramada Inn Maingate AGES ago, but we were not a fan. We usually stay at HoJo but it was booked solid that time around. I remember it was dirty and we were not fans of the pool (we had small children with us). The rooms felt small and I remember feeling like the walk was still pretty long. There is a good chance they have upgraded it since (which it needed) but we all agreed to not stay there again following that trip. I have never stayed at either Tropicana or Desert Inn so can't comment on those. If you end up at Ramada then I hope it has changed since we were there!

The Desert Inn is pretty nice. Close, good sized rooms and you get a 10% discount at the Dennys out front. The only down side is that they charge for parking now. ($8.00 I think):confused3
We'll stay there again on our next trip. :thumbsup2
ps. there's a roof-top patio to watch the fireworks.

I was less than impressed with our stay at the Tropicana last October. The room was just adequate and the microwave sparked and cooked unevenly.

Here at Tropicana now, have a week left. Rooms fine, not fancy, but clean and nice. Staff have been helpful and nice as well. Loving the location- just 5 minutes to the gates!

We always stay at the Tropicana when we stay offsite. It's clean, as others said nothing fancy. But the location is just wonderful, just a few steps from the crosswalk in to DL. They have a nice size pool and hot tub.

We have stayed at Desert Inn once and are going back this year. The walk is VERY easy with kids. Hotel is clean but not fancy. Indoor pool is a little odd for me but kids that it was very cool. We were there in November, so not great time for outdoor pool anyway. The 4 queen room is wonderful, we had tons of space.

I'm a fan of Ramada Maingate especially the premium rooms .

We loved it

We stayed at Desert Inn & Suites last week (6/6-6/9) and I won't return. However, their prices for the suite are a lot cheaper than other places like Park Vue and HoJos- but I'd rather pay more and stay somewhere nicer!

Here is my trip review:
We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Disneyland. We stayed in a Parlor "A" suite- 2 queens in the bedroom, and a sleeper couch/coffee table and tv in the "parlor".

PROS: Very basic; Clean (not super clean, but the carpet was newish, no mold/stains anywhere); The location is GREAT- literally right across the street (well, there is one hotel closer) than the main Harbor Entrance. About a 5-8 minute walk depending on how fast you are and whether you have to wait at the stoplight on Harbor. Close to Denny's. Can see fireworks from the rooms (ours at least- not all); rooftop viewing area for fireworks. Staff was polite, especially the parking staff.

CONS: Too basic (this is not a hotel you want to do much besides sleep at); beds are VERY VERY hard; only top floor rooms are quiet; one elevator- can be slow; breakfast basically junk and inedible; pool indoors and right on parking lot; bathroom is in bedroom of the parlor A suite and fan was noisy; parking may be valet if full; parking cramped (cars too close); no landscaping onsite.

Overall, I won't be returning- this was fine for our budget vacation, but i'd rather splurge and stay somewhere with softer beds and some landscaping.

Room Tip: Request top floor- it was quiet.

I've always stayed at the Tropicana and found it perfectly fine for DH and I. That said, apparently they've implemented a new parking policy and I'm not sure I'd choose to stay there again.

They now charge $9/day for parking (whereas it used to be free). On top of that, if you park before the 4pm check-in time and leave your car there after you check out, you'll get charged two extra days (for the pre-check in time and post-check out time). I think that is absolutely ridiculous.

I totally agree with these pros and cons, except that I didn't find the beds to be too hard. When I'm looking for inexpensive, and can do w/o the luxery, it is our favorite spot. And we've stayed in several places on Harbor. In fact, we'll be there in 3 days!!!!

We had room 524- perhaps it had the hardest beds? Regardless, the room was awesome- we could totally see the fireworks! And super duper quiet- we didn't sleep in the parlor though- I could see that being noiser, since its closer to the walkway.

We paid $99/night plus the $8 parking and $4 resort fee= $111/night. This is cheaper than the HoJos suite and Park Vue suite.
