But, right to the point, it's not like she's doing it NOW. And without getting too political, you're trying to connect some dots here that don't really make a picture.

It makes a picture for many.

We all know this thread isn't about a nice dress. It's a way for some to get a thread on the DIS. And the other side knows it, and just wants you to know they know.

To be fair, I think some people are capable of making a distinction between discretions of youth & how one conducts themselves as a very prominent person in the here & now.

If she had been a youth I am pretty sure someone would have been arrested for child pornography.

That statement put the women's movement back 70 years.

That's an easy statement to make when you have been born in the US or Canada and have the luxury of all that life offers here. Very easy to make. I have enough Eastern Europe acquaintances of Melania Trump's age and I can promise you, they wouldn't sniff or turn their nose up making remarks about "the women's movement." They tend to be realists and if being blessed with physical assets good enough to make them a model gave them a ticket out of what was still a communist country, then they indeed would be very thankful for height and long legs.

But to be blunt, doesn't every model today thank her lucky stars for her physical attributes? They don't pay big bucks to model if you are short and chubby. Being short, I wish they did. We don't have a lot of physically unattractive movie or TV stars. They are likely grateful for their looks. We autotune "singers" to within an inch of their lives rather than have a singer with a great voice who just isn't attractive. I may not like these things, but they are true. To recognize them is not setting the women's movement back. It's simply observing what goes on. And that is in America. In Eastern Europe, Melania had far fewer options and opportunities. Modeling was a great way out.

Basically I'm saying whatever was her ticket out, I don't blame her for taking it and none of the people I know from EE countries would either. Most of them seem fairly .....enthusiastic......about getting out if you can. At least they did back closer to communist times. So if your brains, athletic ability, modeling talent, etc. could get you out of a communist country, they figured you should grab the chance. We have no idea what their future looked like to them, based on their past. But they did, and it wasn't good. As it turns out, things have actually gotten better in some countries. But they had no way of knowing that would happen.

Movie stars, models, singers etc. are not married to the president and suddenly trying to act like they are something they are not. You can dress Pamela Anderson up in a Jackie O dress and we all still know she is a Playboy centerfold and b-rate actress. Then again Pam never tries to reinvent herself for PR purposes. She's not a hypocrite. Good for Pam.

I just read an interesting story that might explain why some people saw similarities between Jackie and Mrs. trump. There is a popular picture going around the Internet of Katie Holmes portraying Jackie and dressed in a baby blue coat. Some are linking to this photo as an actual picture of Jackie not knowing it is an actress. Of course that still does not explain why someone colorized a tan coat in an old black and white photo to turn it blue.

This thread was started because I was watching television and loving the dress I saw at that moment!! I also participate in all the red carpet and other fashion threads on here so I had no underlying political intentions by starting this thread. Please don't create something that isn't there. So are you just saying that posing nude makes her a slut? If so, have the nerve to embrace it. I'm as modest as they come, and even I allow for models to pose near nude or nude. That's why we never let DD start modeling.
