Ralph Lauren Dress

I thought overall everyone looked pretty darn good yesterday. I agree with the comments upthread that Kellyanne was trying to go viral with her look and Michelle was simply showing up looking classy but not showy in her departure.

IMO Melania's ball gown underwhelmed. It was by no means inappropriate or ugly, but the red ribbon? at the waist threw me off and I thought she needed just a smidge less length to be able to maneuver more comfortably dancing.

I agree with others who say her outfit was not anything like Jackie O's. It was more of a nod to that time period and I'm sure as an overall nod to the Kennedy dynasty and this family's hope to mirror it that Camelot kind of feeling.
Yes, it was definitely a nod to the time period. But Jackie O was one of the leading fashion trendsetters of that time period.

Glad that people haven't responded to the pot stirring here.

I think Kelly Ann (is that her name?) was making a statement that she doesn't care what people say about her, and she's not going to go along with the crowd just for the sake of going along with the crowd. That, is apparently, her, so the dress makes sense. She had regular gowns on on Thurs and Fri nights, I believe, from pics I saw. (ETA pic below)

I've also noticed that (pardon me if I'm not up with fashion terms) "double breasted with buttons" seems to be a trend right now. Not a big fan of that look on women or on men.

I agree that Melania's overall look was "Jacquiesque", although somewhere along the line the signals got crossed with the blue color business. I looked through the link that Asta posted and some of the fashions shown confirmed this for me. (Others may see it differently.) I think part of the problem were the black and white photos, it was hard to tell actual colors from them, and even when you saw black and white and color of the same dress, they looked a lot different.

Melania's ball gown wasn't something I would pick, I don't think (actually I"m not sure what I'd ever pick :lmao: ), but I liked it for her. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it, either. I wouldn't want to have to make such a choice, I can imagine it's tough, and there will be criticism no matter what you pick. Poor Mrs. Pence, imagine how she must've felt knowing she had to share the stage with all these amazing looking women! (And I thought she did ok! She's obviously a very different body type from the Trump women! Probably more like the rest of us, haha!)

So I mentioned high heels last night. Here's another thing I was thinking. I know if I was running around all day (on heels) and eating breakfast, lunch and dinner out, I'd be a little bloated in the belly! :rotfl2: There's no way my belly would be that flat dancing around a ballroom floor. (Which is why my gown would likely be loose-fitting if I had one, lol. Definitely no belts!) They must eat pretty lightly.

I was looking through Google images to find the picture I was talking about, above, and I noticed that Kelly Ann often wears red, white, or blue, either alone or in some combination, often "patriotic", but that she often also wears some sort of bizarre outfits, for lack of a better term, so yes, I think that's just her. If she's comfortable with it, then hey.

AND wear Spanx!

Late to the party, but another one who loved The First Lady's inaugural outfit. I also loved Michelle Obama's dress too.

I didn't even see this one before, but this would probably be more my style.

Maybe that's what she changed into after she ate! (Notice, no belt!) :rotfl2:

What do people think of this one?

I don't follow fashion trends or any of that, but the outfit Melania wore was lovely. Kelly Ann's was just weird looking.

Loved Melania's dress with the coat! Didn't care for the neckline once the coat was off, but that's me.

Didn't care for Ivanka's coat with her pantsuit at all.

Liked the color of Michelle's dress, but not the actual dress. Looked very frumpy and she can look better while still staying "low key", IMO.

Kellyann's outfit? It's her. I don't have an issue with it as it was an "occasion" coat and she can pull it off with her attitude. A less strong woman couldn't do it and it would just look costume-y.

The ball gowns were all pretty great, not that I could pull any of them off, lol! And I thought Mrs. Pence's dress was a good fit for her.

I never had a problem with Michelle's arms, they were great! Not sure who did :confused3

I think she could get away with a re-run of that same outfit next Oct 31st. More wear, more value. :-)

Kelly Ann's coat and hat made me want to go order a corn dog and limeade at the mall. TMZ compared her to a toy soldier :)

To me, the Kellyanne coat suffered from just being too many things. If it had just been blue and white, it would have been fine. The red collar ...maybe okay. The hat - too much. The buttons - geez. I could maybe even see the coat, with the collar, without the buttons and a cute pair of red pumps. Maybe. Maybe. And only if she did something else with her hair.

She just always looks un-put-together, so taking that much of a risk is something she will never be able to pull off.

Sometimes less is more in fashion. On the other hand, it was her birthday. She turned 50, and I think a woman should wear what makes her happy on her birthday.
