Is the jazz brunch fun? Is it popular/do we need reservations? We are arriving on a sunday so with the flights and travel time from LGB and checkin to DLH I don't know what time we'd be wanting to eat.

I have reservation for next Sunday! ( I can't believe I get to say that ) so I'll 'watch' this thread and post my experience. We have an early reservation on Sunday morning.
It was a toss up between this and going on Thursday night for a more raucous time for 'dueling pianos', which starts at 9pm.
My family loves to have brunch at the Jazz Kitchen before heading home. We don't normally make a reservation (I've been there in early October, mid-March, and early June). If you sit inside you'll be able to hear the live jazz music while you eat. We've done that once, but it was pretty loud (not necessarily in a bad way because the music was good, but it made having a conversation hard). More recently we've sat outside on the patio. When the weather is nice, that's a great option, but you can't really hear the music if the doors are closed. Regardless of where you sit, the food is really good!
A couple of my favorites: the bourbon street sampler (top) and the shrimps and grits (bottom).
