Rainforest cafe in AK vs DTD

This is not oneof my favorite places to eat for food but I love the theme and DD loves everything about it and it is a must do for her.
I have never eaten at the one in AK though and was wondering if it was the same as DTD? We were going to eat at the AK one this time around.
DO they sell alcohol at this one-the one in DTD has a drink that I like-I tink it is called a green python?
WDW is one of the few tomes me and DH drink as we don't have to drive-although we have a limit of just a couple b/c of our DD.

They are essentially the same restaurant. Both have a huge retail area surrounding the restaurant. And you do not need to enter the AK to eat at the restaurant. My mom thought it was a bit darker at the AK one - and the "thunderstorms" didn't help! Same service, same food.....no differences I can pinpoint.

I agree they are the same. Definately alcholic beverages are available at AK.

Service and wait time is about the only difference I have found. And those both favor the AK location with better service and less of a wait.

In addition, you can make PS times at the AK Rainforest Cafe and not at the Downtown Disney location. We went on a whim by calling Disney Dining from our hotel the first time we went to WDW and got a PS time that bypassed major crowds and wait times. My wife loves the Volcanic Cobb Salad and I think the food is just OK. We already have our PS times for our May trip on our AK day. My daughter loves the themeing and shopping.

My kids loved it. I thought the food was horrible, cold and no taste. I would opt for anything else.
