:scared1::scared1:

It shows thunderstorms next week at Disney on the weather channel. Now I know when I have been there before, it did not rain much. What do you all think? This week has been a true nightmare trying to get ready. We are staying at Pop Century and I have never stayed there before...so concerned about that as well...

I am so stressed! My dh has cancer. One grandaughter has strep. My father is staying home with my sister who has not seen him for 6 years and I am paying her big money to do this. I pray she does not leave him alone as he is 87 and can be forgetful. This is the first time I have flown in 20 years as well...we always drive. We are taking 5 children-the grands-2, 3, 3, 4, and 7. Yikes! Any advice about weather-my worst concern and the hotel? Thanks so much. I love reading this board...!

Let's hope the trip is worth the aggravation leading up to it. Since my husband's' leukemia has no cure on earth and he is out of remission again I need a nice vacation for him...I guess I will pray for no rain! And that the hotel is okay...

It most likely is only referring to the summertime weather pattern. Here in central FL in the summertime, you tend to get Thunderstorms every day after 4:00 or so. It's not an all day thing.

Resorts, IMHO, are what you make them. I have stayed at all levels of hotels at WDW and I still love POP. It is fun and whimsical. Try not to have huge expectations, but rather take things as they come and enjoy yourself. I don't mean lower your expectations, just give yourself a fair shake at having a good time.

I live here in Orlando, and it's rained almost everyday for the past 2 weeks or so, and most likely will continue to until September. However, as the PP said, it usually doesn't rain until early or mid-afternoon, and normally not for very long. Sometimes they last 5 minutes, sometimes 3 hours. They are very spotty thunderstorms.. it could rain buckets at the Magic Kingdom, and not a drop at Epcot.

I love rainy days at Disney. It makes the crowds much smaller. Wear water sandals and shorts that dry quickly if you sit on some water.

Some of my best memories are from pouring rainstorms at WDW.

Most rain is 15 minutes at 3pm & its done with.

You sure do have a lot on your plate. :hug:

I'm not sure who else you're going with besides your DH and the grandchildren, but if the two of you are the only adults, I wouldn't necessarily do what we always did in the early years...just go to the parks anyway if it rains, because the crowds thin out and it's actually kind of nice. That might not work tho with so many young children.

I have to say tho...some of the best times that we've had at WDW were when it rained and we just decided to stay in and play cards or games or read or JUST RELAX.

We own DVC, but did stay at Pop once...fun theming, and kids love it...but didn't spend much time there entertaining ourselves, so I'm not sure what there might be to do there.

Over the years, we've had various degrees of rain...sometimes the quick afternoon storm, one year when it rained so much we couldn't dry out our shoes (or our spares), and last year when it seemed to rain more at night.

Play it by ear, but be prepared to have fun in the room. Maybe a picnic on the floor...that kind of thing.

:hug: Treasure the time together.

I heard a rumor from a CM that in 2020 the entire place will have a dome on it
