Rain rain go away....

It didn't rain here until the afternoon yesterday. But less than 10 minutes to the east, it was raining at noon.

When it did rain last night, BOY did it rain. Flooded roads and everything.

I think an important comment was made. When the lightening is going, go inside. Rain won't ruin your trip, but lightening can.

Rain rain come our way! Boy do we need the rain. Water bans all over and flowers, grass dieing. :sad2:

We leave Saturday and I have been worried also. However, everyone I talk to says "you will still have a great time". I am going with that attitude! I will be with my family and treating my grandsons to WDW for the first time. :earsboy:

It rained a lot on our vacation last year! You REALLY need to take two pairs of tennis shoes each if possible and sandals or flip flops if you aren't going to be doing a lot of walking! Be prepared and keep going! This made life a lot easier!!

We were at Disney June 17th - 26th. It rained twice. When I spoke to my mother-in-law at home she was concerned our trip was ruined because the weather channel was reporting rain every day in Orlando during our trip. It only rained twice and for less than an hour each time! I hope you have a graet time! Stock up on the $.87 ponchos at Wallmart.

We were at WDW from May 30 until June 5. It rained every day. Many of those days it rained for hours on end. Sometimes it poured and sometimes it sprinkled, but it was almost always wet. At first I felt like crying! However, we managed to do everything we wanted to do. We ended up buying Mickey ponchos since our 99 cent Target ponchos didn't last for day to day use.

Perhaps the rain will make us sloooowww down! My family (and yes I am guilty too...) wants to expierience it all... so mother nature knows best! ;)

That's exactly what happened with us on a trip a # of years ago. When we got home and I went to my mom's to pick up our dog, she greeted me with a "I'm so sorry you had such bad weather". Of course, we had fine weather, with but a few stray showers. The Weather Channel had been reporting rain all week!!
Pretty sad when they can't even report correctly the weather that is actually happening--much less forecast it correctly.

With the "Orlando area" being so huge, this is not uncommon. It can rain all day north of Orlando, in Sanford, and be sunny and beautiful at WDW.

Not to mention, the common impulse when you see a map with 5 or 7 days of little pictures that mean rain or thunderstorms to think that it means rail all day everywhere.

As already stated, the terms "isolated" and "scattered" are pretty literal.

On more than one occasion, I spoke to Holly at work and my friend at his house. It was raining 8 minutes in one direction and 8 minutes in the other direction of me, and it was sunny here.

Weather forecasting sure isn't an exact science. You are right--always must pay attention to those other little caveats they use:
might, chance, maybe, perhaps, possible, 50%, etc etc.
My all time favorite was when the forecaster on a local station told me that showers were "very likely possible".
And I'm still wondering what the difference is between rain being a "possibility", a "real possibility" and a "definite possibility".

"There is a 30% chance of isolated scattered showers over parts of Central Florida over the next 24 to 48 hours."

Someone turns on their lawn sprinklers and the forecast is accurate. :)

We stepped off of a tram at Epcot and right as the tram pulled away, the skies opened up. The rain came down in buckets and we could not see the car at first. It was awful and rained like that several times last week.

However, Florida had some kind of weather system stuck over it and hopefully that thing has about moved on by now. We joked a lot about "sunny Florida" though.
