Now I can handle the daily afternoon storm you get in FL in the summer. What I do not think I can swallow is the all day thunderstorms the weather channel is predicting for next week. :umbrella: So those of you in Florida are these all day rains or just isolated storms? I am going to pack our rain stuff anyway. I don't mind getting wet...it is the little ones that will mind. Pray for :sunny:

Remember ... weather can change in a week!!! :sunny:

When I was at WDW 2 years ago in August, it rained pratically everyday. My family and I still had fun though. Just make sure you have a poncho and you are good to go. Most of the rides are inside anyways. ::MinnieMo

I will be there next week as well. Can't wait, but I definetly will not let rain ruin my fun :cool1:

That's when we were there last also and it did rain ALL of the time. We still had fun. They were talking about how they were having wya above average rainfall for that month.

I'm also a little worried b/c this will be the 1st time w/ ds 15 mths and not sure about the stroller and rain. We've never had to deal with this before. We will have fun none the less.

Its Summer :sunny: Its Florida :cool1: Its gonna Rain :umbrella:
Those 3 things are certain...Now how good are ya at dodging lightening bolts?
When the electricity is in the air ( we aint talking Pixie Dust ) its time to go inside, relax and wait till it passes.
The all day stuff is usually associated with a cold front, tropical storm or ( shudder ) a hurricane and it doesnt look like any of those are in the forcast, so enjoy the brief respite from the heat and go stomp in some puddles ( have found this to be great aggrevation therapy )

Last year we went in July and the 10 day forecast showed rain every day. I was getting worried. Actually we had some afternoon rain showers (only about 1/2 the time) but it was never the all day, thunderstorm rain that I was afraid of. Hopefully it will be the same this year.

www.wftv.com is a great local weather station.

We have had more than the usual amount of rain but it seems to happen very late afternoon. It rains for an hour or two. It hasn't been the all days rains.

We'll be there as well. Obviously I don't live in Orlando anymore, but I lived there for one summer (2000). I can only remember one day where it rained ALL DAY. These are thunderstorms which are totally unpredictable. I seriously doubt it will be an all day thing every day, or even for one day. However, I think it's highly likely it will storm every afternoon. I think it'll be the usual pattern.

When we were there last week the forecast almost never matched what was happening. The days they said it would definitely rain a lot we just got a shower or two and that was it. The days they called for "isolated" or "scattered" showers we actually got more rain.

Good question--would be nice if the Weather Channel (or anyone else for that matter) could actually tell you--.
You've gotten good advice from the previous posters, so I'll just wish you great weather!

I guess this is normal but I may have to get a boat soon just to get around ;) The storms can last anywhere from < 5 minutes to several hours but generally average 30-60 minutes. It will probably continue this way until the October time frame.

Thank you all for your insights! I'll be packing my ponchos(although clear Mickey ones I may have to buy!)with a smile. :sunny:

We are a little south of Orlando and we are getting the afternoon showers....not all day rains, but they are daily....causing mosquito haven with all the puddles around. Bring some bug spray!

It rained every day last week. It lasted from a half hour to about 4 hours. Sometimes it was a regular rain and alot of times it was a downpour. Luckily, there is plenty to do inside all the parks until it stops.

Have a great time

I'm a resident of Orlando. June has been a rainy month in that it rains nearly every day....we're close to breaking the record I believe. I think that's mostly because when it has rained it *pours*, and not just a quick 20 minute shower, but more like a three hour deal...like yesterday. However, it's never that bad that it will wipe out a day. And it depends on the pattern...when it's a tropical influence like we've had the past two days....there's huge coverage of showers in the area...yesterday I think that they said 80% coverage. When it's the normal storms caused by the breeze off the gulf and the atlantic hitting and causing regular t-storms...we may get storms here in my neighborhood and it will be bone dry down in the parks...or vice versa.

The main thing to remember here in the summer is be careful of lightning. Coming from the northeast, well we didn't take lightening all that seriously up there. Here it's a different story. People's home and people themselves get struck here from time to time. Don't try and run for the bus or an attraction when there's lightening. Lightning is nothing to mess around with here.

we need rain up here in the north!! So HOT, and DRY, everything is brown, and the rivers and lakes are going down...

:wizard:

We’ll be there next week, too. Ever heard the one about predicting economic performance? “Pick an economist you like, and GO WITH IT!” I look at the weather the same way. Look at accuweather.com. Lots of “An afternoon t-storm possible”, but nothing too serious. BUT... if it DOES rain, maybe that will help with the crowds........

We were there for two weeks several years ago - in September - and it rained every single day except one - and that was the day we went to Sea World - LOL..

It would start around noon time and come down in absolute buckets - none of that "showers" stuff.. Most days it lasted from 4 to 8 hours.. The first couple of days we kind of ignored it, but after that it got old real quick.. The worst part was that it seemed to increase the humidity in a MAJOR way and that was no fun at all..

I'm aiming for December for our next trip and hoping that daily rain won't be an issue.. :flower:

Sigh, rained most of the day here yesterday (30 mi north of WDW) and is thundering, lightning and raining here again now..... :(
