Rain next weekend, oh noooooooo

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've been following the weather for the 23-28 religiously on accu weather. I've seen everything from 57 degrees to 85 degrees, as well as sun, clouds, and rain. Lol.

;)
AND... Speaking of umbrellas at WDW (and in keeping with our earlier "electrical discussion,") one thing that one should NOT do is use an umbrella if there is a chance of lightning.
Lightning in Florida? I wouldn't worry about it, that is what the hat is for. Oh wait, they are removing the hat, never mind.

What you want to watch for as far as the weather goes this time of year are the big storm systems, which usually drag a front through Florida as well (almost like a tail). During our "dry" season, we typically only get rain due to fronts passing through. That's why the rain can last much longer (although it is not usually as heavy as the summer afternoon rains). We could have rain for a few hours if a front clears quickly, or a few days if the front stalls out over us. Or rain, a clear day, then rain, if the front goes through, and then comes back up the state. Rain is a lot less predictable this time of year - I would monitor the local news affiliates for Orlando, and no more than 3-5 days out at most.

We fly out on Sunday and I have been watching the weather - it changes every. single. day. Yesterday, the forecast was calling for rain every day from Tuesday through Friday. Now there is a "chance" of rain on those days, but the only day it looks like "real" rain in Thursday. That's the day we have Animal Kingdom planned... not sure what that park is like in the rain, but we have ponchos and will brave it!

The weather page I watch now says cloudy on Thursday and dropped the rain...I guess we'll know when we live it!

And that is why as a local I say ignore the weather forecasts. They just have no clue but they are forced to make something up to make it appear like they know what they are saying.

Ditto with everyone watching the coming forecast.
The one thing that is giving me some peace - last June we planned a week long beach / pool trip to the Florida Keys in June. For more than a week before we left, forecast called for lots of rain, every. Single. Day. Can you imagine how BUMMED I was?!!?
Guess what? Blue sky every. Single. Day. With the exception of one day. Drove to Key West that day to shop and eat. Thanks weather forecasters!

I took my nephew down to the keys last June to take him to Dry Tortuga National Park. The forecast was for clear skies. It rained cats and dogs and we never made it to the Tortugas.

After living in FL for 23 years I always said when it rained "As long as you can see a patch of blue in the sky somewhere it will blow over and you will be fine." 9x out of 10 worked like a charm :-)

:offtopic: but had to respond! A Scottish friend always said when you see enough blue sky to patch a Scottmans's britches, then the rain will be over soon!!!!! :-) Always loved it! Usually true, like you said!!

We are leaving tomorrow too. Glad to hear everyone saying to ignore the forecast. On our trip last January we had almost constant rain and temps in the40s and 50s. Figure this time around rain or not, it at least looks to be warm.

We've done AK in the rain before. It's not too bad, but does usually drive the animals inside

And I agree, ponchos or raincoats, please noooo umbrellas, makes it so much harder for the rest of us to get around, not to mention making us wetter as the rain pours off the edges, lol!

Well, that's great if people are considerate, but it works both ways. We have been soaked so many times by inconsiderate people with wet ponchos on that brush by us coming indoors, or sit on the bus beside us without blinking an eye! We prefer umbrellas, and are super careful and considerate of other's faces, eyes, etc.

Not much of an issue with us anyway, we never stick around in the rain, so are not walking around when it's pouring - yes, we are in the minority, but we plan enough days there that we 'will not' stay in the parks if it's more than just waiting out showers inside. Love rain, do not love getting my feet/shoes/whatever soaked.

I guess then that it's a good thing you don't stick around in the rain. If people are wearing ponchos (hence it's raining), and you are getting wet by a "brush by" then you were not prepared for the possibility of rain. I for one was glad so many people didn't stick around MK due to the rain as we walked on most rides all night. I had brought a plastic bag to stick our ponchos in upon entering a ride, indoor attraction or bus so we were not getting others wet or the seats. Most indoor rides were requiring us to take them off anyway. I do agree not everyone was considerate about their wet ponchos once indoors, (shaking the water off without even looking to see if anyone is around you first) so you did make a good point.

In over 30 years of visiting the world I have never been there when it hasn't rained at least one day, I've even been there during a hurricane. No big deal, I always have a poncho folded up either in my little crossbody bag or my clear backpack. Pull it on and go about my day. I also carry a pair of flip flops if I'm wearing closed shoes.

I'm confident the OP was talking about next weekend.
i would have thought that a message posted on a Thursday asking about the weather next weekend would have been talking about the very next weekend coming up. Anyhow it is starting to look like rain now.

It was posted yesterday--Friday--and when I say "next" weekend on a Friday, I mean a week away. "This" weekend would be the one staring me in the face. Semantics anyway.
