Wow! I thought we would go to this place for some fun entertainment and a kid friendly night out at DTD but the food was soooo amazing!
With no reservation on a Friday night - we went for 7:00 hoping to catch some of the 8:00 entertainment before the kids got too restless. We had minimal wait (15 min). Were greeted by the friendliest staff. Had Jim (the opening act) sit and chat with us and help us decide what to order. And had the most amazing meals that finally did not include orange slimy mac & cheese for our 4 year old.
Our eight year old ordered off the "grown-up" menu "Where's you fada burger" with chips - he ate the entire thing - unusual for him - and said it was the best burger he ever had.
Our four year old had the kids chicken stix - skewered chicken breast battered and deep fried with chips. I thought it might be a bit greasy for him but it was very light and crispy with no grease I could see or taste. (yes - I had to sample, it looked so good)
I had for app - the puffed pastry stuffed with crab. It was YUMMY! With the "It's not bleedin' chowder" for my main dish. WOW! I'm a chowder lover and have sampled some of the best around but this was really delish! I'd said it was probably the best around.
My hubby had the pate to start - he's a real pate lover. He makes his own for special occasions but he said this was in his top three of all time. He followed with the Bangers and chips - he said the sausage flavour was really unique he hadn't tasted anything like them before and really enjoyed them. I had a taste and they were real Irish sausages - I haven't found any others in restaurants in North America that can quite replicate that flavour.
Oh and the chips were the best in World too! Well cooked and not dried out.
We were all way too full for dessert but my husband is a bread pudding fan so we ordered one to split between the four of us. We should have ordered more!
That was the most amazing dessert - creamy and rich with just the right amount of sweetness. We were at Ohana's later in the week and had their version and it was pretty good but could not even compare to the standard this one set.
We actual went back on our last day just for coffee and bread pudding.
Overall it was a great trip. Most of the restaurants were pretty good with a few exceptions that we will not return to. Raglan Road will now be visited on every trip - we can't wait to get back!
