Wow! I thought we would go to this place for some fun entertainment and a kid friendly night out at DTD but the food was soooo amazing! :Pinkbounc
With no reservation on a Friday night - we went for 7:00 hoping to catch some of the 8:00 entertainment before the kids got too restless. We had minimal wait (15 min). Were greeted by the friendliest staff. Had Jim (the opening act) sit and chat with us and help us decide what to order. And had the most amazing meals that finally did not include orange slimy mac & cheese for our 4 year old.
Our eight year old ordered off the "grown-up" menu "Where's you fada burger" with chips - he ate the entire thing - unusual for him - and said it was the best burger he ever had.
Our four year old had the kids chicken stix - skewered chicken breast battered and deep fried with chips. I thought it might be a bit greasy for him but it was very light and crispy with no grease I could see or taste. (yes - I had to sample, it looked so good)
I had for app - the puffed pastry stuffed with crab. It was YUMMY! With the "It's not bleedin' chowder" for my main dish. WOW! I'm a chowder lover and have sampled some of the best around but this was really delish! I'd said it was probably the best around.
My hubby had the pate to start - he's a real pate lover. He makes his own for special occasions but he said this was in his top three of all time. He followed with the Bangers and chips - he said the sausage flavour was really unique he hadn't tasted anything like them before and really enjoyed them. I had a taste and they were real Irish sausages - I haven't found any others in restaurants in North America that can quite replicate that flavour.
Oh and the chips were the best in World too! Well cooked and not dried out.
We were all way too full for dessert but my husband is a bread pudding fan so we ordered one to split between the four of us. We should have ordered more! :cool1:
That was the most amazing dessert - creamy and rich with just the right amount of sweetness. We were at Ohana's later in the week and had their version and it was pretty good but could not even compare to the standard this one set.
We actual went back on our last day just for coffee and bread pudding. :woohoo:
Overall it was a great trip. Most of the restaurants were pretty good with a few exceptions that we will not return to. Raglan Road will now be visited on every trip - we can't wait to get back!

Thanks for the review. We were wondering how good the food was. We plan on going in August. I could not get a ADR after six so we will chance it. We don't mind waiting. We want to go for a late dinner so we can stay for the entertainment, around 8:00. Anyone know what time things get started? pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Jim opens up at 8:00 - he opened late the night we were there, probably more like 8:20. (He warms up the crowd with some pub songs on his keyboard, it's kind of funny hearing him teach everyone how to sing along. I'm Irish so I think the songs were born with me) The band is on right after, they had an Irish dancer come out for a couple of songs. She performs in the centre of the floor on a raised platform in front of the stage. We had to walk around to see her. Go early and ask for a table down in the stage section so you can enjoy the entertainment.

Ooh - you might want to check which nights there is music. We were there on a Friday night. I think low-season it's only on Friday and Saturdays. I would imagine during peak season it's more often.

I went with my 24-year-old son last November, mostly because he wanted to try some of the Irish beers. Well, we could not get over how good the food was!! He said the burger was the best he'd ever had, and he is a burger expert if there ever was one. My favourite part was the Guinness-glazed ribs that we shared as an appetizer. Never again will I share them - next time I think I'll just get two orders and make them my main course. They were SO delicious.

We have to agree...we have been 4 times now. Raglan Road has become a must do on every drive up to Orlando.

The scallop forest is amazing. The fish/chips...very good. Hubby loves Kevins Kudos. Actually..we have not had anything bad at all. Everything has been amazing.

The desserts..well....all wonderful, but the bread pudding has got to be the best.

What are the hours? Being inside the Pleaseure Island area, we were unable to get to it the last time we were there...smjj

I ahve heard nothing but great reviews about this place. I CAN"T WAIT ANYMORE!!!! :hyper:

Do they take ADR's because I would like to have one for St. Patrick's day if possible?

We couldn't make an ADR after 6:00. I looked on one of the websites, I think it was Downtown Disney's, and there was a 15.00 cover for ST Pat's day. Not sure what it included. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

We will be at Raglan Road on Tuesday evening to celebrate my daughter's 15th birthday. She is nuts over two things...everything Irish and Soccer. We visited RR over the Thanksgiving holiday for the first time and we had a wonderful meal and great service.

She can't wait to make another visit to her now favorite restaurant at WDW!

Currently they are only open for dinner hours (4pm - too late for us), but we were told by the staff that soon they will begin opening for lunch. I guess this is a popular place. We went by at lunch hour hoping for a meal and ended up at Cooke's next door.
BTW - if you can't get an ADR, go early and camp out at your table. The wait staff doesn't mind as long as you're ordering. We were at our table for 2.5 hours and the waitress was in no rush to move us on.

We have an ADR there for dinner in May. The reviews have been really good and I can't wait to try it!! :goodvibes

I'm relatively impressed with the food. I love the goat cheese salad and have liked everything else I've had there (but isn't everything better after a couple of Smithwick's?) It is expensive but I cannot fault the food. Thinking of trying this on the DVC dining plan in September and using DDE for the ale.

Haven't stuck around for the entertainment. I probably will sometime depending on how late the Adventurers Club opens.

Is this restaurant inside Pleasure Island? And, if so, do you have to have tickets/passes to Pleasure Island to go to the restaurant?

thanks!

You do not need admission to Pleasure Island for the restaurant or to walk around in the area. The only time you need PI admission is if you want to enter the nightclubs.

Great review-thanks! I was considering trying this restaurant for our Oct trip since we are getting the dining plan and I saw it was on the list. We are also doing Rose and Crown though, I think DH goes for those really tall beers! I thought it might be too much "pub food" and was thinking about trying WCC, for my kids mostly, instead. I have to say after reading your review I am reconsidering that! It sounds great!

Hi we are going to both restaurants in May. I can tell you I've shown my DH pictures of the fish and chips at the Rose and Crown. He says it looks delicious and most reviews I've read say it's great.

Have a mgical day,
Anna

Does RR accept DDE?? I thought they didn't.

We had dinner there last Saturday night, and used our DDE with no problems.

We couldn't use it when we went in December, but evidently they decided to accept it as of January.

You won't find it listed on the DDE restaurant list either. I'm really glad that they take it though, because I'm SERIOUSLY ADDICTED to the Scallop Forest!!

(And DH is addicted to the Bread and Butter Bread Pudding)
