Yep, the big pink gates opposite the ice cream place (which is just next to the Bella Notte restaurant). You're thinking of the right place .

Its definitely a good place to get to meet loads of characters if you time it right - just as good as the gates near IASW in Fantasyland, and often much quieter too .

Yep we've found both Chip and Dale in that area several times
Also met Rafiki, the monkey from Jungle Book with the knot in his tail and Brer Fox in the same place.
