Racist,ignorant, or misunderstood? O'Reilly remarks

I am sure you will let MediaMatters do your Liberal Thinking for You.
Who here do you think is letting MediaMatters do their thinking for them?

I don't see anyone here letting MediaMatters do their thinking for them. I see people reading a transcript of O'Reilly's words and forming their own opinions on those words.

I will go back an review the Media Matters and Then look For another transcript from the show. I guess if you can't remember everything you say You are a Liar. Now have you reviewed the entire episode of the Radio Factor in question with regards to the Discussion with Juan Williams, or are you still letting media matters do your editing for you. Let me know and when ready I will post my answer. But since you Crack about Fox News, I am sure you will let MediaMatters do your Liberal Thinking for You.

Forgetting is human.

Denying you ever said it is lying.

And rhetorical BS heads the list in Planet Bush's playbook. :lmao:

In Your Opinion. I guess you can say that. But I am sure in your entire life you never denied doing something that you forgot about.

And I'll ask again - what else is in the conversation that changes what he's saying there. If he isn't saying he's shocked that black people can behave civilized, what is he saying?

Well, if you were under the impression from reading the DIS that every June WDW is "overun" with lude and crude behavior from "Gay Days" and saw first hand that it wasn't, wouldn't you be a little surprised?

Or like going to France and not finding that the French are rude and stinky.

Or like going to Italy and not finding they are the worst drivers in the world.

The "impression" O'Reilly was talking about was the "gangsta" rap/ hip hop culture's influence on the perception of life in the black community. Maybe he was trying to debunk a stereotype. Yeah, that's it!! :rotfl2:

But forming/expressing an opinion doesn't automatcially make it spin.

It sounds different than it reads when you include the inflections from their voices.

Yeah it does, only I thought it made it sound even worse!

No bias? Please...

So where is their statement about liberal "misinformation"?

Odd that nobody has started a similar site for the conservative side. :confused3

I've used MM a few times, and in those cases I've always used the links they provide to read/hear the information for myself and used the research links to read the actual data they use for the "debunking".

The bias is in the material they choose, not in the research. They go after conservative commentators, and they are VERY clear about that-as shown above.

The surprise comes when you discover something you didn't know. O'Reilly was surprised that black people can eat in a restaurant in a civilized manner. Think how twisted O'Reilly's view of the world must have been that "(black people acting civilized in a restaurant) was surprising???

I think many seem to be stuck on it being a "revelation" to him personally.

I still think he was trying to (maybe poorly) debunk or deemphasis the gagsta rap/hip hop impression of typical life in the black community. But of course there are no places such as he described in the black community. Right?

I think many seem to be stuck on it being a "revelation" to him personally.
Well, yeah, that's the point. It was a revelation to him that black people can act civilized.

But they're fair and balanced. :happytv:

Not to mention the most watched cable news network in America.:) And guess what? We really don't care what you think!

Really though (to the OP), you shouldn't have bothered making this a question. There is only one acceptable opinion on these boards, that of the left.

Color me crazy, but those 3 examples you used point to ignorance, homophobia, xenophobia, and just plain stupidity. If someone wants to cop to all those, be my guest. ;)

Btw, is the latest spin O'Reilly was trying to educate people? Please, you're killing me. :lmao:

You guys just don't get it, do you? He was trying to explain that the stereotypes (watched TV lately?) are not all true! By trying to help black Americans, he is seen as racist. Unbelievable.

He was trying to help black Americans by saying it was surprising that they could act civilized in a restaurant??? O'Reilly didn't just point out that black people can act civilized in restaurants, he said he has surprised by this bit of news.

Do his viewers really not understand that?

No, he was trying to help black Americans by dismissing the stereotype that all blacks act like ‘gangsters’ (the impression the media and rap artists like to portray). He is saying, NO, that is not the case and the media and rap artists who portray this image CREATE these negative stereotypes. He wants to change the ‘thug’ image that dominates AA media representation. And, you know what, I think even Al Sharpton agrees with him. As a poster said earlier, “He wasnt sterotyping - his entire point is that blacks DONT act like RAP "artists" and the pedastal some rap artists are put on, for acting and talking like 'hoodlums' is unacceptable.” That was his point

Do O'Reilly's viewers really think that all blacks act like gangsters???

When did O'Reilly figure out that they don't?

So I should be HAPPY about his comments??

Cool.

One quick question.

When will he start to help young white females?

I know tons of black people that do not interact with white people on a daily basis. The only knowledge they have of white people is what they see in the media.

As you know, there are a few young ladies that have been in the news a bit lately. (Hilton, Lohan, Spears) Based on what we've seen, many of us have come to the conclusion that ALL young white women lack morals and self respect. They also seem to have a total disregard for the law. Oh, and based on what we've read and seen on the news, they lack maternal insticnt.:confused3

Maybe when Mr. O'Reilly pulls his foot out of his mouth, he'll have time to start helping young white females.

Or how about having Jesse Jackson put out the word. Yeah, that's it.

O'Reilly and Jackson can go out to lunch. When the meals over, Jackson can report back to us.

I wonder if you'd find Jackson's "discoveries" insulting or helpful.

(For the record I don't know ANYONE that believes the garbage I just wrote)

Do O'Reilly's viewers really think that all blacks act like gangsters???

When did O'Reilly figure out that they don't?

He just figured it out on September 19.:thumbsup2

No, he was trying to help black Americans by dismissing the stereotype that all blacks act like ‘gangsters’ (the impression the media and rap artists like to portray).

Imagine Rev Al going to a "white" Restaurant then going on his radio show and saying.."Wow they arent all blond, and they werent playing Brittney Spears music in the background, no one was drinking beer from a can, belching and opening the top button of their pants after dinner"

Whould you say Rev Al is trying to HELP white Americans by dismissing the stereotype that all whites act like trash ?

I like watching the factor...and CNN and MSNBC and Hannity and Colmes, HN, Glenn Beck, Anderson Cooper and so on and so on. I like to have everyones view point on a topic on discussion including here on the DIS as this one.:thumbsup2

If you hate O'Rielly than anything he says will sound stupid, as with any brodcaster your not fond of... I like him but dont agree with everything he says and nor do I agree with what alll the other prodcasters have to say. I take out and sort out how I feel and view my own opinion.

do I think he was being racist....no....I believe he was making a point not to himself but to others in the way as a monologue. He was not voicing his beliefs but the belifs of others...what they think it would be like in a Black restaurant.

As if I were to say to you....if you were racist....No these people are not hanging from trees in the restaurant and no they dont eat just collard greens and so on. By the way to add I am not racist and think racisum is cruel and well frankly dont understand why it is even in our society....trully I hate it.

You can not just listen to one broadcaster, read one news paper to view an opinion. Some papers are written from the far left the others from the right, and all those from in between.

To those that are on this board that find it so easy to say people that like o'rielly should not be trusted, that we must be racist also, that we have no brain...well to me that is being raciist against my views and make you no better tahn how you pretray O'Rielly. popcorn::

So don't try to take a stick out of someone elses eye when you have a board in your own!

In my opinion if you can't come here and play and debate fair and kind than you should not be here at all.

Play nice....
